I've been to the Clayton location, which is awesome and now I've been to the Syracuse location which is also awesome! Good food, good drinks, and awesome staff! The place is very clean and well taken care of. Everyone was very friendly. Drinks came out quickly and so did the food. The drinks and the food were delicious. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. I wish they had a Rochester location, I'd be there all the time. read more

Angela was very attentive to our group of four. Very nice and personable. Not her fault, but sad you charge more for a credit card use,(

Mallory took great care of us while we had my granddaughters birthday celebration! The food was great and Mallory went out of her way to make our dessert special - candles and all!! Though there were lots of people we were served in time to make it to a show at the Landmark! read more

Julie was great, very attentive and friendly throughout the night, enjoyed our dinner there.

Matt was very nice and attentive, great food, good music too!! my dad loved all the beer taps lots of options for drinks

Omg best service ever JULIE was an amazing server bringing the good vibes to pair with my amazing burger and poutine fries. 100/10

The food here is so delicious, some crazy great flavors going on. A little noisy as it's a bar/restaurant, high ceilings with no noise dampeners. Our waitress was absolutely amazing, she gave multiple recommendations and checked on us multiple times throughout the night. We got our food quickly and it came out hot and delicious. Would definitely come here again. read more

great waitress! Very attentive, friendly! Ford was great, hot and yummy! Would definitely come back!

Its a huge place!! It has that Industrial look which is cool. Service was ok, the food took a long time to come and the sides were cold when it was served. It was dead in here on Wednesday night, makes you wonder why. The burgers were ok, definitely not coming back unfortunately. They do have a good selection of beer, IPA's and ciders. read more

Ryan Francey - A great bartender, friend, and confidant. With a killer mustache. Takes great care of the patrons and leaves them smiling on some of the worst days of their lives. Caters to all dietary restrictions and even makes suggestions on food for those with restrictions. Which is rare and refreshing. Ryan always makes his customers feel individualized and special, whether it is a packed bar or just a few loners. read more

Absolutely LOVE this spot. It is HUGE inside with lots of seating with tables, booths or at the bar. I've gone both recently and in October (when it was still nice enough to sit outside) and both experiences were wonderful. I went during Syracuse dining week with some friends where we got the $25 pre fixe menu that included a choice of soda/beer, appetizer and entree. I got the poutine as an appetizer with the chicken sandwich as an entree and their chicken sandwiches are so tender and juicy. They give you a LOT of food so make sure to go on an empty stomach! One of the best spots downtown definitely check it out. read more

Attempted Brunch/Lunch at The Hop's, Advertised Wheelchair Accessible, Upon Arrival with Paraplegic Husband....Indicated they ONLY Have Front Staircase, No Wheelchair Accesiability Update 7/23/24, Bill reached out to me directly, and appears miscommunication for host on duty wasn't aware and received in correct information. Bill indicated he would get with his team for training & offered us a gift certificate. Great Response by Owner, Will definitely take Bill up on his offer, next visit to Syracuse, NY. read more

Haven't been here in awhile, so was happy that they were one of the few beer joints with a varied menu that was open on a Monday night. My friend and I got a booth near the front door (quite chilly inside, especially when customers came in or left). Bring a sweater or hoodie when eating here in the winter. Server was great. Ordered a variety of beers. All fresh, well poured and reasonably priced. I did hope for fewer IPAs and fruit/sours, but I enjoyed the brown ale, porter and winter warmer. Food was pricey. We got two appetizers (5 wings and 2 tacos) and that alone was $33 with tip. Lastly, the place is a bit of a sports bar, with large screen tvs and rock music playing. But, if that's your thing, this is a perfect place with lots of room for fans. read more

Even though we went to taste of Syracuse, we ended up dining at The Hops Spot. Always a great choice. We started with the Alamo poutine. Fresh avocado, pickled jalapeños, tomatillo salsa, cheddar cheese, spicy-ranch, cilantro. Delicious and fresh. For mains I ordered the "Bacon care of business" burger. Crisp bacon strips with signature bacon jam, onion rings, mayo, and melted American cheese. Did not disappoint. Always an upbeat friendly atmosphere, with attentive staff. A place to check out, in the Clinton Square area. read more

OH MY GOD. First of all, that Nashville hot chicken sandwich was ‍! So good. Seasoned perfectly. I got the Veggie Classic Poutine and my husband got the Big Lebowski. This is where I took off a star. Not for flavor. That veggie poutine is DELICIOUS! But it was quite small for $13. Like side order size. The Big Lebowski was easily 2-3X larger. I figured it was because it has pierogies, but we did a comparison after the four pierogies came out of the box. There were A LOT more fries in that order. Regardless, flavors were incredible and I'll be back to try other menu items. Great spot. Delicious food. read more

We rented out the space for a huge 100 person party in the back of hop spot. Good space, accessible bathroom, but the issue is the food we paid for didn't come out on time and ran out fast with replenishment taking a while. Sure, I'd suggest this location for an event but the catered food situation needs to catch up to as nice as the charcuterie looked. read more

It must be raining salt because my food was covered in it and I feel like I opened my mouth in the ocean. Pretzel appetizer was $12 and you get two short lil breadstick type pretzels by Sysco. They were pretty good but come on, 12 bucks for pre-made teeny pretzels. Nashville hot chicken sandwich was so greasy and the breading was blackened and very thick. Did I mention the overwhelming salt? Not impressed by the way the burger was cooked--no char, just kinda all around eh. Burger wasn't salty though, so yay. Came for a weekend lunch and saw a lot of empty tables, yet service was so slow. We waited an absurd amount of time for mediocre food. read more

Super cool place. I came at an off time so was the only one in here (2:44pm). Food was super quick and super good! Guy behind the bar was amazing! Great customer face and was very friendly. Even checked out the burger and offered to have it re-cooked when it turned out Medium and not Medium rare. (It was still delicious) Knowledgeable about the area and had a bunch of great suggestions for local spots. Really elevated the dining experience. Thanks Sam! The hops spot is one of my favourites in Syracuse. The atmosphere is chill and staff are super friendly. They have an extensive beer menu and anything you order here is always delicious. First of all, there are two locations! One in Armory Square in Syracuse, one in Clayton, up on the St.Lawrence River. I've eaten at both. You can't beat eating outside in the fall up near the river. I had a beer and a burger. It was the best burger ever, called You're bacon me crazy. Dee-lish! Went to the Syracuse location. I wasn't in the mood for a burger, and ordered the fried green tomato sandwich. It arrived and I started eating the side salad. A couple minutes later, Waitress comes over and sets down a plate. Puzzled, I asked what it was... My fried green tomatoes. They forgot to put them on my sandwich... Oy. Wonder what the heck was going on in the kitchen?! Service in both places is good, beer is good, just a flip of the coin on the kitchen!!! read more

The Hops Spot is located in the space that Empire Brew Pub used to be in. We went on a Sunday night, when dining options in Syracuse are pretty slim. The restaurant wasn't especially packed but service was a little slow. Not a big deal-- I know there's food service hiring issues going on right now and many places are strapped for staff. It was just kinda one of those "you weren't ready to order a minute after you were sat so now you have to wait a bit" situations. Maybe just don't go if you're in a rush. In any case, the menu has a TON of beer options, including lots of local brews. I went for the 1911 Watermelon Mint cider, which was very refreshing on a sweltering summer night. Also love that they have such a big vegan menu. My dining partner was vegan, so this definitely made it easier for her-- it's always a bummer when your guest only has one or two options to choose from. The poutine was tasty, though a little pricey for the size. The real star of the evening was the dessert poutine. They billed it as rocky road, though it was really more s'moresy-- funnel cake fries with chocolate sauce and marshmallow fluff (which we got on the side so that my vegan friend could indulge too.) This. Was. DELICIOUS. Even the waiter asked about it and admitted he'd been meaning to try it. Seriously scrumptious, though definitely a once-in-a-while thing. read more

This seems like a happening joint down near the convention center where a lot of 20-somethings come to get down. Kind of a rustic feel to it with wood accents and gear boxes- as well as a large gear mechanism hanging from the ceiling. There is a bar area when you walk in with small half circle booths (kind of like the sushi place in PGH that was 90° inside). We sat at a table and quickly and placed our order for beverages. One in our party is into weird ass beers so he had a few of those but I stuck to cancer drinks and went Diet Coke and a water. Waitress was also the hostess so things were a little slow. This place specializes in poutine (fries, cheese curds, gravy, as well as sanwdwiches. They had a chicken sandwich that looked really good but at $16 I couldn't do it and ordered a beer cheese burger (medium) adding a fry upgrade to poutine. I will say that for the burger it was prepared perfectly, but it was very sloppy. I get beer cheese things aren't going to be perfect but the burger ran into the poutine and was a mess. As far as taste - very good but the mustard on the burger kept making me think of hot dogs. As for the poutine it was more like cheese chunks off a block rather than curds - like when mom used to buy bags of cheese chunks for salads. The main issue I had was temp of everything - my gravy was lukewarm at best, the burger was cool not hot, and had it been warmer it would have been more enjoyable. Overall just ok. Maybe we just caught them at a bad time - would try it again. read more

Grabbed a burger at this place in the morning and came back at night for a round of beers and games out in the back. I ordered a chicken burger that came in a pretzel bun which was pretty interesting. It tasted really good and was super filling. The fries it came with were also well seasoned and not soggy. After trying a lot of chicken burgers out there, I would say that this comes in the top 3. They have a huge selection of beers and some wine. In the back, they have corn hole, darts, bocce ball, and video games set up. I hear that their poutine is really good and can't wait to come back and try it soon! read more

This place has become my go-to for a beer and fries. This is also the place that ended my pescatarian diet. I was cursed with a craving for a burger that lasted for two weeks. I daydreamed and fantasized about burgers. I meditated and contemplated on crossing over to the dark side. And after a lot of thinking and observation at the Hop Spot bar, I decided this would be the place for me to have my first burger in three years. The presentation of the burger was great and the burger itself was gorgeous. The taste was spot on. It was juicy, and the bun sort of disintegrated into the beef patty the longer I held it. It was perfect. And you know what -- I ordered and inhaled another one!!!!! I don't know if I'll ever transition into a full-fledged meat eater, but I'm so happy with the outcome of Burger Day 2021. read more

Went to the Hops Spot before the Blue Man Group show, and couldn't have been happier. I have been here once or twice before, actually pre COVID so been quite awhile. This night was probably the best! The bacon jam on the pierogies was so good , I could have just orders a bowl of it for dessert......LOL Another positive is you can actually order your burger anyway you like it, which seems to be rare now adays (pun intended), as I like mine rare! read more

First impressions are everything. The sign welcoming guests to seat themselves led me on a journey to find a clean table. Food and fries littered the floor, and the staff seemed ambivalent to it all. I do not want to patronize a place that seems to care so little about its appearance. I shudder to think of what the kitchen looks like if the front of the house is so poorly maintained. Hesitantly stayed for a burger and beer. The food was lackluster and not worth a return visit. read more

Upfront - This is a total Friends and Family recommendation. Heck, I'd even recommend The Hops Spot to people I dislike, because even they deserve to try this place out. It's just that good. I was extremely surprised at the number of beers available on tap. I believe it was 43 (+/- a few). Honestly, I was a little overwhelmed and simply told the waitress the type I wanted to make up my flight then left the specifics up to her. She did not disappoint....and from sampling the others that made up the flights of my wife and the couple we were with...all were excellent. The beer was exceptional. But...hold on....there's more. Let's talk the food... 1. Appetizers: An order of Pork Belly and fried Duck Wings. Okay can I simply say - OMG, both were absolutely spectacular. The Pork Belly was tender, juicy and finger licking good. It was all I could do to restrain myself from licking the plate. The Duck Wings Nashville Hot style were crispy and so full of flavor it was reticula's. If we did not order meals, I would have ordered more of each of the Pork Belly and Duck Wings and I'd have been perfectly content to make a meal of these. 2. Main Dishes: I was thoroughly captivated by the 3 different cuts of beef that composed their burgers and selected the "Make Your Own" option. For me a Hamburger is perhaps one of the best foods you can eat....and this one did not disappoint. Lets call it a completely fulfilling burger in every since of comprehension. Dam near a Foodgasim happened. My wife had the Fox Poutine. She allowed me to sample and that was it. She kept the rest for herself, and I honestly can not blame her. They were wonderful. Nothing skimpy or weak about the fries, gravy or toppings. I wanted more, but had to settle for the sample she allowed me. Put it this way....there was more than one time when I was doing my happy seated food dance at the table as I ate. Will I visit The Hops Spot again? Yes Was it worth the drive from Marcellus? Absolutely. You really need to try this place........... read more

The Hops Spot was the perfect place to stop for some drinks and apps! The place is pretty big - they have a lot of outdoor seating, as well as a large indoor seating, bar, and game area. The menu is filled with tasty options, including 13 different kinds of poutine! We enjoyed the Classique Poutine - the flavors were great, but we felt the fries could have been a little crispier. The Pierogies were also pretty yummy, although they seemed deep fried, which was definitely different than a traditional pierogie. The bacon jam they are served with was super yummy! Our server was very friendly and service was pretty good. I highly recommend checking out The Hops Spot for a tasty lunch or dinner! read more
