No food available, but they encourage you to bring food in. There's Vietnamese next door and Mexican across the street. Just down the block is Italian. Beautiful Saturday afternoon in downtown Gresham, with the Farmers Market in full swing across the street (AWESOME!!). We got a table outside and enjoyed a great sampling of something for just about EVERYONE, including several tasty Porters for me and the Mr. LOVED his IPA choices. Huge selection of beers with some ciders and a kombucha or two thrown in. They don't really have much in the way of food unless you really like Sun Chips but the restaurant next door will bring food out to the beer garden in between the two buildings. The beer garden is the best though and we stop here after a 11+ mile bike ride from Portland. It's covered and heated and dog friendly. It is an added bonus that the staff is friendly and they will add CBD to any beer for $3. read more

i thoroughly enjoyed this place. we were passing through gresham after a hike and decided we wanted somewhere to stop for a beer and bite to eat. they don't serve food but there's a few restaurants off main street that you can get food from and bring there which is convenient. the place is clean & aside from serving beers for there & to go, they also serve a bunch of brewing supplies which i thought was really cool. the beer selection is pretty decent but nothing super crazy i had never heard of but i still enjoyed what i had. i love the outdoor area and its very nicely socially distanced so you can enjoy and feel safe during covid times. overall i enjoyed the place a lot and would go back again if i were in the area. read more

I pay $23 at Air Gas NOT $116. They told me $116 after they filled it and told me they cannot take it back because it was already in my bottle. I almost fell over!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you look online, it cost from $12-$39 to fill a 20lb bottle with CO2. $39 is crazy high BUT $116. That is robbery. read more

Our experience at The Hoppy Brewer last week was far better than we anticipated. I think the first reason was because I don't venture out to Gresham all that often (read: never). We were pleasantly surprised to see downtown Gresham actually has a nice area with a lot of shops and restaurants. The 2nd (and more important) reason is that these guys know beer. They know beer and they know people. We told the bartender it was our first time in and and he was super personable and just started telling us everything about the place. His name was Benjamin. They operate on a first name basis and I like that. This is a one-stop-shop for all your homebrew needs. They also have their own brewery brand called Krauski's. And of course they have a bar and bottleshop to boot. They had something like 25-30 taps with a couple of them sporting their in-house beers. You can get a taster tray of small 3 oz glasses 5 for $8 or a pint which usually ranged from $5-$7 depending on the ABV. They don't have food but you can bring in your own. There are plenty of restaurants including the Local Cow next door who will deliver. read more

HOOAH! I had a cheeseburger with bacon and sauteed onions. It came with fries which were paltry and uninspiring. My friends had a burger and Mount Hood Wedge and we got some beers from the adjacent Hoppy Brewer. The Hoppy Brewer had some nice drafts, but the Porter from the fridge at less than $5 a pint was awesome and $5 well spent. They were knowledgable and helpful, delivering quality brews at reasonable prices. The brews from the Hoppy Brewer sealed the deal, otherwise this would have been a 5 or 6 bomb experience. Beer garden! Nice combo! It's a place where you can buy ingredients to make your own beer, or where you can purchase some unusual beers you might not find in a grocery store. They don't serve food but they don't mind if you order from Local Cow next door. They will even deliver it right over to you. You can also just bring your own food into the garden area. They don't mind. And then on a sunny day, you can head yourself outside and sit for a spell while you drink your hoppy brew. And you can bring your dog! read more

Can I just start out by saying "THANK YOU" to The Hoppy Brewer!!! Not only do you have a WONDERFUL tap selection - apparently - you also have home brewing supplies!!!??!!! Thank you for NOT having EVERY TAP a crappy IPA or other "Beer-Vana" swill that most of the pubs & breweries serve in the greater PDX area!!! Thank you for serving Belgium, German, Stout & Porter styles. We APPRECIATE you serving (MY all-time FAV!) Weihenstephaner VITUS!!! It was rated THE BEST BEER IN THE WORLD in 2009... While you do have some hoppy taps, you have devoted ample pour-space to other options. While we were there, we tried: Quadrophenia, Ovila Abby Quad, Vollbier Helles, Hell Pony Maibock, and the Artic Devil Barley Wine. While some of our choices were better than others in taste, complexity and body, all were excellent choices. The cost of these beers are a little more on the pricey side ($5 - $9.50 per pour) - but you get what you pay for!!! We also had some peanuts...WHICH I THOUGHT WERE COMPLIMENTARY.....SURPRISE!!! The (rather small!) bowl of peanuts is $2. What also made this an enjoyable experience was the fact that you could order food from the neighbor The Local Cow and eat on the patio in the middle (FYI: THERE ARE NO KIDS ALLOWED in the patio area). The staff is friendly & knowledgeable, the place is fresh, clean and well-managed!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND The Hoppy Brewer & The Local Cow. Walked through the Gresham Arts Festival on Saturday and my husband couldn't wait to get a cold beer at the Hoppy Brewer. It was a warm afternoon and two of the outside tables were occupied, the rest hadn't been cleaned. We sat down anyway, assuming with the Art Festival, they would come by any time to keep those tables clean. After 10 minutes, no one came by to clean the table or ask us for our order, so we moved inside hoping it would be better. No such luck. Waited another 10 minutes (silly us!) and still no one even acknowledged us. In the words of my husband, this is "A Miss" on their part. As busy as the downtown Gresham area was that day, you would have thought they would have loved to have all that business. Guess not! There were two guys standing at the counter on the supply side and one guy on the beer side, all standing around chatting. I can't even drink beer (gluten) but I still love this place. They started as a brewing supply shop and still very much are but have quickly become a wonderful little hangout for a pleasant sip or two in a much more personable atmosphere than a traditional bar. The beer garden is relaxing, set off the quaint main drag of downtown Gresham. The tables inside are a bit cramped and fill up quick but it's starting to feel like the kind of small town place were you could strike up a great conversation with a stranger so the coziness isn't really a bother. Just get there early if it's raining because there's very limited seating indoors. My boyfriend loves the ever rotating on tap offers and the coolers full of at least 100 bottled choices that can be consumed in-house or taken to go. The owner is very passionate about great beer and knows his stuff. He always seems to be available to answer questions and does a great job of making the rounds to make sure everyone is happy with their choices. The cooler has a good selection of ciders and at least one gluten free beer and there are always several nice wine selections for us wheatophobes. There's no food, but they're more than happy to let you bring in takeout from one of the many eateries within spitting distance. The BF and I have done this more than once, especially on nights where we couldn't agree where to eat, so we'd order takeout separately and bring it over here to enjoy together with a drink. I can't explain why this is so fun, but there's something different and adventurous about it. They even seem to have an arrangement with The Local Cow next door that allows their wait staff to bring food right over. The Hoppy Brewer definitely makes me happy! read more

I visited the Hoppy Brewer today. I am from Colorado where we have hundreds of breweries and tap rooms. I was extremely impressed with the beer selection (28 on tap) and even something for the kids.... a great root beer. It is a very nice, clean place with cool decor. They even have a room with brewing supplies for the Home brewer. The owner was there and recommended some of their own craft brews. Very personable and knowledgeable. They always have new beers, so I like to come and try the new ones. Everyone I've tried is at least good, but mostly they're closer to excellent. I honestly could never pick a favorite either, because they have so many selections that it would be like picking a favorite food of all the foods in the world. The staff is really friendly and helpful and can answer questions about the distinctions in the beers and techniques on home brewing. All their brews are made with the materials in their home brewing kits, so it's like getting a sense of what you could make at home (if you had their brewing expertise). I bought my first home brew kit here and honestly failed miserably, so I gave it as a Christmas gift to a buddy who loves to home brew. I wish they would do home brewing classes in the beer garden so I could learn. Until then, I'll continue to buy their ready-made beers. It's always better than what I could find somewhere else on tap or make myself, that's for sure. read more

The Hoppy Brewer is a really comfortable place in downtown Gresham to relax and enjoy a great microbrew. As soon as we stepped inside, I just felt immediately comfortable in their warm, pub-like atmosphere. The man at the counter welcomed us and he helpfully explained the choices on the current tap list. I was pretty impressed with the twenty-eight different brews on their menu board. He offered us a couple of samples, and my friend and I both chose "Krauski's Winter Splendor", which was their own brew there at Hoppy. It was good stuff! They don't serve food, but they do have a great arrangement with the restaurant next door, The Local Cow. You can order food from Local Cow, and they'll bring it over to you at Hoppy Brewer, so we ordered some fries. I LIKE that arrangement. . .really convenient! Hoppy Brewer is a wonderful discovery for me. I don't know how many times I've been here. The people there know my name and practically have a beer ready for me as I walk up to the taps. "You want the Bavik?" lol. The live music is great. I really love this place, the beer, the service and the sense of humor of the staff. Very friendly. The burger shop next door will serve you in the beer garden or in the Hoppy itself. Bus your tables! I even went in there to study for work-related stuff and just sat there, ordering a ridiculous amount of root beer, reading endlessly. Nice place. People complaining about them not serving food? It's a homebrew shop and tap room. They don't need to serve food. It's called liquid bread. Drink it. You can bring food in....Go get a greasy slob of beef next door, some pho about 10 feet away, cupcakes about a block away, some Lebanese/Mediterranean food across the street, Thai about a block away, etc etc. You can bring the food back and eat it there.
