I hope you don't want to receive things that you order from this location because Brett Meyers (Head of shipping) will literally turn away shipments as he pleases. It doesn't matter if you are waiting on it, or if you were told when it will be there he is the "god" of Home Depot. He decides what he will and won't do without ANY regard for anyone else. Customers, drivers, and even his own company knows of him and his lack of regard for anyone but himself. If you need lumber you should definitely go to Tum-A-Lum instead. While staying at an RBO, we encountered an ant infestation! Home Depot to the rescu! Purchased some ortho insect killer with a hose so we could spray every inch of the perimeter and while there, also picked up the bait for the exterior. Even though we stopped in for something specific, I couldn't help wander through the garden section. It's mid July and they were still well stocked with beautiful perrenials and colorful annuals. Great prices in pots and vessel; I picked up a few to bring back home even though there are many Home Depot's in Portland. There were several other items that caught my attention - shelving for the garage, cleaning supplies, outdoor lighting - but I will wait to purchase locally as the car is already quite full. Service was friendly. When one of the pots didn't have a price, a staff member ran back to the garden department to find a like item. Tons of parking and located right off the first exit in The Dalles when heading East, it was a quick and gorgeous drive from Hood River. read more

Hello, I am writing to bring awareness to what I consider absolutely unacceptable business practice involving your location in the The Dalles, Oregon (Store 4026). On March 5th,2024 I placed an order (H4026-236312) and since then I have lost as much money as the order in time and fuel due to how this has been handled. I have now driven the two plus hour round trip drive to this location three times and have been told emphatically to my face twice of a pick up date or a delivery date of which none have come to fruition. I was told by one employee that your team failed to get it off 'vendors' truck and yet by another that 'vendor' forgot to put it on the truck. This all of course was after I had contracted crew to pick up the item and install to be stuck with their bill as I was not informed till day of that it would not happen. After yet another trip this store I was emphatically told that it would be delivered today of which I have taken yet another day off to accommodate and now told it wont happen. In total I have now spent over six hours driving (time off), two complete days off and a month waiting and guess what still no definitive answer. The Home Depot automated push notification system has sent me no less than a dozen updates this morning ranging from out for delivery and rescheduled with different date a further week out. I am now stuck with the prospect of traveling for work and not having sliding glass door in. The 'MOD' felt that $150 store credit was the fix (an insult that barely covers the tank of gas) which on principle was rejected. I have either been outright lied to by an employee and now put into an even worse scenario. This has been handled in such an unprofessional manner across the board the likes of which I would only expect from a shade tree outfit. I can see one maybe even two possible issues arising with an order but this is RIDICULOUS and has cost me a lot of time, money and frustration. Six plus hours Driving !!!! Two full days off !!!!! I think I have a new favorite Home Depot. There is nothing wrong with my old favorite in Troutdale, however it's a nice drive out here and they are always well stocked and friendly. Their garden center is what I was after while my husband was picking up hardware for work. I was impressed with the selection/ not always the cheapest on plants. Like a $17 tomato plant, but there are deals to be had if you look around. read more

I went in today to purchase close to $2000 in landscaping plants. No one working in the department, and the "help" desk was completely inept. The woman who supposedly worked the area didn't have a clue and stood there with a blank stare and the guy wasn't any better. Not a one offered to help me in the nursery yard and it appeared they didn't want to put in any effort at all to make a sale. This after I waited on hold for 15 minutes yesterday to get an order placed. I hung up then and walked out today. Went to Home depot to look for a new sink. Picked one out, took it home, but it was damaged. Took it back to Home depot for an exchange. Found another sink just like the one we just took back, but we opened up the box at the store this time to make sure it was ok. Good thing we did that, because it was damaged too. We noticed another sink way up on the top shelving. Same kind of sink. Last one. A guy took it down, We opened the box. Nothing wrong with it. Whew. The guy said he'd give us an extra 10% off because of all the issues we were having with the sink. Score. Thank you! read more

We purchased a new front loader washer/dryer set, while the delivery guys were lazy and didn't bother with the dryer vent and told us we had to make the opening in the shelf bigger, when in reality it fit fine when my husband installed it. Then after they left we realized they gave us a 4 prong dryer cord and we needed a 3 prong cord, which they obviously didn't check either. But the highlight of the story is that when I called customer service at The Dalles store, Thomas graciously offered to bring the right dryer cord to my house on his way home and swap them out free of charge. He even brought two options and made sure of which one we would need. Wonderful customer service from Thomas! read more

I go in to this Home Depot frequently. I usually get OK service, never great, but usually OK. Some of the employees are helpful, while others will happily tell you something is not in stock while you are looking at it. But, I had an experience here yesterday that really made me angry. Oregon is currently requiring all facemasks at all indoor businesses due to COVID-19. This Home Depot is not enforcing it, and the employees will not turn people away who are not wearing masks. This is disappointing, but probably not worth a 1-star review. What is worth a 1-star review is the way that the employees will also disregard profanity laced-tirades from people without masks directed at customers with masks. Several employees saw this happen yesterday and did nothing. The offender was served helpfully by the store employees shortly afterwards. It was not that he took his mask off - he didn't have one at all. It was a little mind-blowing. When I asked why the store was not enforcing the masks required by law, the employee told me that she didn't know what the policy was. Most businesses in the area are refusing to provide service to customers who are not wearing a mask. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a little gy., I served in the military, and I can protect myself with competence. I am not afraid of confrontation. I support free speech, and support the right of people to be stupid, as long as it's away from me and not in a private place of business that is taking my money. But, I'm not going to return to a place of business that does not value the customer's comfort and safety. There are other businesses, who are local and deserve more of my business, that I would rather give my money to. read more

I live 35 miles away from the store. When I come in, I usually get intelligent, professional service -- or I used to. Today, I drove in to order something I could have gotten online; I wanted to look the person that I'd bring the item back to, in the eye, and I wanted a protection plan at the point of purchase. No deal. And no resolution from the manager. read more

Bought new washer and dryer. Kevin was the sales associate that helped me. He was friendly, courteous and I didn't mind waiting for him to finish with the customer before me. In the middle of packing and moving so I thought I would make a purchase online and pick it up at the store on my lunch break. Got the "order is ready for pick up" text right before lunch. Run out to get my item and they couldn't find it. While looking for my item, the clerk was busy chatting and horsing around with the other 3 employees behind the counter. By the time I told them that I had no more time to waste standing there and I would have to try to pick it up later, I could have walked into the store, went and found the item myself and gone through the checkout and been done. We've been dealing with Home Depot for almost 5 months trying to get gutters installed on our home. There has been nothing but TROUBLE and headaches. We have had two different contractors bail on us, trouble trying to see a color sample and very little communication with Home Depot. Apparently, if they don't have an answer for you, Home Depot believes that they can ignore any phone calls and emails. They have my deposit and won't schedule the work. I have spoken to the store manager in The Dalles and he has been attempting to get someone to return my call. No luck! If a store manager can't get the communication going, then how can I get someone to answer my calls? This will be the last time I ever use Home Depot for ANY special services! read more

I bought a Dylan dishwasher from Home Depot. They ordered it online from the store. It arrived in two days. We set it up ran it once and the second time it did not work. I took it to Home Depot in The Dalles and they reordered me a new one. It took a little time but the people at the store worked with me. My new dishwasher arrived the next day and it works perfectly. Id love to tell you that Home Depot is really bad because they are this big cold corporation, but they are actually quite excellent and attentive at this store in The Dalles. They kept marking stuff down for cyber this and black Friday originating on line at the corporate level. They were very attentive on the mark downs recto-actively and honoring my 5% discount that my MA card offered without a rebill. Kudos to Maria, Janice, Christine and The store Manager Loren. Also the store clerks may not be the best informed on individual details ( how could they?) but don't hesitate to call the corporate office -- especially blinds.com which they acquired. They will courteously walking you through the measuring process, then you put the order in at the local branch which might save "local expenses" and delivery costs depending where you live. I am not the most patient guy in the world, but they have always been patient with me. Sometimes the local stores do not see the online discounts offered by corporate, but the individual branches will always honor the corporate discounts no questions asked. In fact, it seems like they would rather mark stuff down then argue with you. So keep this in mind if you discover anything with a defect. I never take advantage of this policy but by all means use it when warranted. I have seen a guy walk out with a $500 Weber grill for $150 because it was crushed only to watch the clerks chase after him on the way out, to give him the broken piece found in the back of the store. I have done several projects at Home Depot: A bathroom remodel. Warren, a real plumber, is A # uno in plumbing. He will walk you through every step so even a novice like me can get the job done. I also had them do an outsourced granite vanity top. No complaints. All I can say for all you disgruntlers out there, remember you got to keep on top of them and double check like Santa because these folks are in a massive corporate conundrum and things can get messed up real easily -- but they are inherently excellent and cheerful and will try to rectify any problems especially if the problem can be resolved with a partial markdown. Obviously they learned what Wallmart taught them: better to lose money now and keep a customer coming back then to discourage them by acting like that old crusty hardware store owner who never gave in one inch or refunded a dime. read more
