I've noticed that customer service at a lot of Home Depot locations has really gone downhill lately. Thankfully, that's not the case at the Payson Home Depot! Every time I walk in, I'm greeted warmly and have an overall great experience. I especially want to recognize Jody at the Pro Desk--she is always smiling, happy, and genuinely kind. I absolutely love her! I always look forward to seeing her, and honestly, it's a little disappointing when she's not there. That said, the rest of the team is also friendly and helpful. Wow, we had fantastic service at this location! We were looking for a device to chain our generator to our truck while we go camping. Richard approached us and asked us if we needed any help. We asked him what the best items for our project would be. He also has a camper and showed us what he uses and gave us some great tips. I didn't catch the gentleman's name that helped us in the lumber department, but he was also fantastic. He helped us get what we needed and was super friendly. When we got to the register, our cashier was kind and took great care of us. What a great experience we had at this Home Depot. read more

I ordered $1800 worth of mulch from Home Depot Payson bc it was on sale, in stock, and website said it could be delivered free next day. Great! A few hours after ordering I got the call that I had received many times before on larger orders..."our truck is full and we need to reschedule your delivery". They scheduled it one week later. I told them please do not sell my product in the meantime bc I have had that happen before too. I was assured it was set aside and ready to go. One week later I checked the website and it said expect drlivery today between around 9:30-10:30am. Great! Then, I received a call from the delivery driver to clarify directions and make sure there was a place to unload the pallets and turn the truck around. I told her it was good to go and I would be waiting with gate open and dogs inside. She said it should be about 2-3 hours. About 2.5 hours later she calls me back to say she was sorry she cannot deliver my order bc Home Depot was dragging their feet on loading my order into her truck. She had been waiting for hours. Her boss is making her leave to go to her next delivery. Wow. I called the number for online orders, and they had a note in the system that "the product was unsafe for delivery". They transferred me to the store manager, John. Multiple apologies were offered but no real solution. They simply could not do the job and make the delivery happen. I had set aside a whole business day staying at home, and frankly, my time is money. My mulch project will wait til next spring. It won't be from Home Depot. It was their last chance in many years worth of disappointing experiences specifically with delivery. read more

We only visited the garden center the both time we visited this year. When it was colder, there were no plants in the garden center, but when we went last week, TONS of stuff. Prices are comparable to the Phx area. We ended up getting some rose bushes and a maple tree. We just don't find maple trees much in the nurseries in the Phx area. I was the one that spotted the maple tree that we did get, and it was a good price, too. The people were knowledgeable and helpful to us. Will be back. read more

My review has nothing to do with products. However, for the record, I will say that I have been a very satisfied customer of the Home Depot since moving to this area 7 years ago. Three weeks ago today, my wife and I, along with most of the people in our little town of Pine AZ, had to do an emergency evacuation due to the Backbone Fire which was quickly moving toward us (see the picture taken during evacuation below). We had to leave our four cats behind (impossible to herd cats!!) but grabbed the dogs and a few important things and took off for Payson. We were stressed beyond imagination and didn't know where we were going to go. As we crested the hill approaching Payson, I observed that the Home Depot had opened up its entire parking area to anyone evacuating Pine (and our neighboring community of Strawberry). Within 2 minutes of our arrival, two Home Depot employees (Alaina and Bob) brought cold water to us and informed us that the hot dogs would be ready shortly. It was a warm night but we were sooooo happy to be in a safe and receptive/welcoming environment. I want to commend and thank Ronda, the manager of the Home Depot store, who provided us with safe haven. My understanding is that her regional manager, Shawn, instructed her to do whatever was necessary to make sure everyone was comfortable and relieved from the pressure of the situation. The tool rental guys were my heroes today. We were driving from Phoenix to Show Low today and my son got car sick and threw up. Of course we were only half way and we had guests in the van with us. Scotty in tool rental saved our trip by renting me a cleaner, filling it with water and letting me plug it in to clean our van. I do not know what we would have done if they hadn't been so kind and helpful! Half a bottle of Odoban later we are on our way with a clean, fresh smelling car. Not sure I understand the mixed reviews here. The staff at this Home Depot are the nicest and most helpful I've experienced at ANY Home Depot in the country and I've been to many of them. They go out of their way to help. Spencer, Brittany, Mike and others that have helped us have been awesome, taking time to make sure we found what we're looking for and answer any questions. We've shopped in all departments (including tool rentals) and never had anything but great experiences. Home Depot uses Delta plumbing from Glendale, CA to install water heaters. My water heater was leaking and losing its ability to warm water although was limping along. I called last Thursday and they made an appointment to install Friday (even though their phone message advertises that if you buy before noon you will have same day installation). They quoted me a price of $1700 +. They cancelled my appointment on Friday, I listened to the voice message and called them. I was told the road was blocked due to weather. I told the young lady the road is not blocked, she then put a manager on who then told me the roads to Prescott and Flagstaff are now open and they need to service those customers first. Today (Monday) a very awesome technician installed it and had me sign that I agreed to a new price which was 1800 +. I signed it. In a few hours my email was blasted with 4 receipts from Home Depot. I looked in my accounts and was charged $1000, $1728 and $272. Unbelievable. I once again called the same manager who told me he would be able to sort it out and should be fixed by tomorrow. A simple "I'm sorry". Would have gone a long way although he never said it. Something is really wrong these days, he told me they have been in business over 30's year.....wow. read more

On Wednesday Sept 30, 2020 my fiance, who has a new business and handles a multitude of supplies for customers, had called ahead of time and gave all the details over the phone in regards to a product that he had purchased at a different Home Depot in Mesa, AZ and he needed to do a return. The product was not a special order, nor was it modified in any way so we were told it could be returned. We are from Globe, AZ and had affairs to attend to in Payson. We knew there was a Home Depot in Payson so he called and was told we could return the merchandise at their location, so he loaded up. Once we got to the Payson Home Depot he was told that they were not able to do the return. Their response was "they did not stock the soffit; therefore, we will not return the product at this store." First off, do not tell a customer on the phone that they will be glad to return an item, especially when they knew ahead of time what the item being returned was, just to tell the customer again once he got there that "sure we can return that for you", have the customer unstrap the purchase from his truck, roll it into the building, take it to the return area just to be told "oh, I'm sorry we can't return this product because you didn't buy it here. You have to take it back to the store where it was originally purchased." Furthermore, the customer service sucked to the point it was almost comical. The lady at the pro-desk was overwhelmed and evidently the management thought it was a brilliant idea to have everyone on lunch at the same exact time that was supposed to work the pro-desk area. We had the manager come over to explain the situation to us in regards to the lack of employees. How sweet. I took it upon myself to call the customer complaint line to inform them of my displeasure at how everything was handled at this store and was literally hung up on by the 1st rep who answered the phone. Considering the fact that I was only asking her a question (I hadn't even gotten to the point of yelling) to see if Home Depot was corporate owned or franchised owned to see why they couldn't do a simple return 'Felicia' hung up on me. At this point I am not a happy camper since I had to call them back and go through the drawn out, long, extremely ridiculous options to press before I could talk to another person. Alicia answered (who was extremely friendly and tried to help the best she could) explained that it is under the discretion of management on whether or not they would do a return. Well Payson Home Depot, I have found numerous references online where ALL stores honor ALL returns from ANY Home Depot, So either you need to update your policies online that there are stipulations to the returns, or you need to get employees who can better assist the customers. I will never go to your store again. The treatment was unacceptable. The employees could care less. And to top it off none of your employees seem to know the products that are offered and don't even care to try and learn. He always spoke highly of Home Depot, but now he will take his money to Lowe's where they seem to appreciate his business. Shame on you. read more

Home Depot Payson is unfortunately lacking in customer service. We purchased all new appliances for our kitchen remodel from them in July, had them stored by them until the contractor told us they would be ready for install. Delivery day came, but the project was running behind, so we had them stored at our home still factory wrapped for a few weeks longer. When ready to install their installation company came back to do the work, upon unwrapping them both the microwave and refrigerator were damaged. Home Depot stated, we should have inspected them upon delivery and refused to replace. We didn't want to unwrapp and expose them to dirt and dust! Fortunately Samsung has a better grasp of reality and will replace them both. Back to the valley for us...Lowes it will be. Would give no stars if allowed. read more

This store needs new management. Every time I stop it seems to get worse. Associates there must have been trained by Walmart, they avoid interacting with customers when ever they can. Yesterday we stopped to buy a refrigerator. About 10 clerks milling around (hiding) in aisles near by but none could help us. One said he called the appliance area associate to help us. We waiting 15 mins and no one showed up. This place needs some big box competition. read more

My husband and I have had several issues with this store. Several departments are not knowledgable in their own departments. We have had to educate them. They should be the experts. Or at least know what stock in their own areas. This is not the case. We had intended on purchasing a kitchen suite back in 2010. But there were issues with that department at that time - we decided to go with Sears. Sorry Home Depot - Over 5000 in sales lost at that point. This year again with had issues - with their hardware department. The woman wanted more proof than the original military id card. So we went back to another Home Depot in the Valley... where they act more professionally and treat the customer with more respect. Another 1500 lost to your store. Home Depot it is a shame you do not see these negative reviews. You do not offer all products and most of us must travel to Valley for other business.... Phoenix isn't that far.. I have never had such a problem trying to resolve an issue. I tried to be proactive regarding a haul away and was told by an employee not to worry about it. He said it was probably already resolved. Well it wasn't and so far I have spent 4 hours this morning trying to resolve the issue with both Home Depot and Barlow's Distribution and their resolution is unacceptable. I have had more issues than I can count, why do I continue buying from them, because there is no Lowe's in Payson. On April 17th of this year I tried to order a fancy new security door for the front of the house. Visions of cool summer breezes and dreams of lower utility costs blissfully went through my head. I paid $50.00 to The Home Depot to come measure as I figured they knew what they were doing? It appears I was wrong. On 5/14/15 I paid the full pop of $1,645.13 for door and install. Labor day weekend is here and the summer is gone. Still don't have the door. No idea when that will occur as nobody has told me of the plan. Home Depot has tried to deliver / install two doors. Both the wrong size. Honestly I could have screwed it up this bad without their help. I am beginning to think that Home Depot is some government agency given their level of ineptitude. So we ordered blinds for a wall of sliding glass doors in our living room. We opted to pay for them to do the installation. Huge mistake! Night before the installation we took the existing window coverings down. We ready for the installers (R & F Installations) to arrive at 9:00 am. At 10:30 am I called Home Depot to see why they hadn't arrived. After being put on hold numerous times transferred four times I finally spoke to a lady who informed me that R& F had cancelled their contract....... They had no solution to my problem and when I advised that I was due a refund on the installation fee I was asked for my phone number and told they would "see what they could do" and blamed it on corporate which I do believe is true. I am so frustrated, they are very unprofessional and not apologetic or interested in getting my install done. Recently bought new house so I've been in most departments here now. New washing machine, lots of lumber, lots of irrigation parts, hardware, drainage. Every department, every checkout, every return has been a good experience. Some examples... Had a load of wood delivered, part of order was incorrect dimension. Seemed like a shared responsibility, clerk had entered wrong dimension and I had signed off on it. When I called she remembered the order, knew I had given her the right dimension and took complete responsibility. Correct wood showed up next day no extra delivery charge. Was loading PVC in truck bed and clerk came over to grab the cart, asked if I needed red flags went and got them and proceeded to tape them on to the pipes while I secured the load. Everyone that has cut wood for me in lumber department has done a great efficient job. Had to check colors for shades and all the sample books except store copy were checked out. She asked how long I would need it and when I told her just a couple hours she sent me home with the store book. It is nice to be trusted! One thing I wish I had known when it was colder is how welcome dogs are in the store. There were a few days last winter that were too cold to take my senior dog out but I could have brought her with me to get my stuff and get her out of the house at the same time. This Home Depot store does not care about customer service I put an internet order and gave them two weeks to pick it and they could not get it done. My internet order that had to ship there made it in time but the items that were already in the store we're not ready. I was in the store 45 minutes before they figured that out and it could not tell me when they were going to pick it. This is the second time at the store that my order was not ready. It's your typical Home Depot. I got a quote for flooring. For $50 a third party comes to measure. You then talk to another company on the phone that tries to decipher the information. You would not believe how many times the rep asked ignore I had a refrigerator in the kitchen. YES I have a refrigerator in the kitchen. Labor will range from $1500-$5500 for sub-floor labor. She couldn't explain what that cost was only that it could be higher on the day of install. Poor Home Depot. These 3rd parties chased me away. read more

This is a very positive review with a warning at the end. Irene in appliances did a fantastic job of resolving an immediate need for a refrigerator for our tenant in Sedona. She worked very hard to resolve a bad situation caused by an earlier botched delivery (see below). She finally connected me with an appliance salesperson in their store in Cottonwood after determining that they would be able to offer immediate help. It worked. See my review for the Cottonwood Home Depot. That bad situation Irene helped solve was that I ordered a refrigerator originally from HomeDepot.com, on-line. They apparently use Barlows Delivery in Arizona. The Barlows driver refused to install the refrigerator, claiming it was too wide for the space. That was totally false and the driver made an error that neither he nor Barlows' management would admit. In fact, they claimed falsely that our tenant had refused the delivery. Take a look at the Yelp page for Barlows and note all the negative reviews including mine. Then if you are considering a Home Depot appliance purchase in Arizona, think twice and try to determine if Barlows will be delivering. If so, look elsewhere. read more

Ordered a washer and dryer the last week of June with a scheduled delivery and install date of July 27th. The sales ladies were very helpful and informative. Took the day off from work and drove the four hours so we could be available. On the day of delivery, called to see when they were arriving. Was told the appliances were on back order and would not be arriving until August 11th. Not cool. Not very professional. There was no curtesy call to let us know that there was a change. read more

We are remodeling our home near Payson. We have been Home Depot customers since they opened in Phoenix. We were happy that we could use Home Depot close to our new home. What a MISTAKE!!!! Stay away from this store! Terrible customer service!!!! Not much ruffles our feathers but the treatment we received by the employees at this Home Depot was so BAD!! I think management or someone from Home Depot Corporate needs to step in. We will not be buying anything from that Home Depot until things change. As I was walking through the garden center Two employees were talking about another customer who got $10 off of them and she was such a liar and a thief. I purchased laminate flooring, underlayment and baseboards. This was a big deal to me and I did lots of research. I was still a little anxious when I went to the store. I had the BEST customer service with Rebecca Kincanon. She was able to answer all of my (many) questions. She had a very calming effect on me. She didn't push any product or service but was right on top of everything. Good customer service is becoming rare, especially in young people. I will search Rebecca out on future visits. Please take good care of her Home Depot ! Next was the delivery process. Rebecca assured me that Mike would do a great job. She was right. He and his co-worker were prompt, efficient and very polite. As some of you know from some of my past postings, I have had a horrible experience with Home Depot in Payson Arizona. It started with me wanting to use a local business to complete my remodel of my kitchen at my cabin in Pine AZ and make sure I kept dollars local. Well there was no resolution to this complete disregard of service even at the corporate level. After at least 24 phone calls to get things scheduled, mishaps by their local store in changing fabrication companies, changing my original contract for certain items to be included in the promotion they offered and I have the contract showing this, they don't feel they really dropped the ball. I am extremely disappointed in the entire company. Service is definitely not a priority for them. Their corporate office of customer service individuals who are supposed to be advocates for the customer is a complete joke and not genuine in solving anything. Once again I was the one who had to follow up on every promise of a call.......which never happened. I have so many names of individuals I have talked to over the past 5 months trying to resolve this.......Lynne on 9/16/2016 who was glad to take additional money for additional granite I asked to be installed, Dewayne who is a reported manger at the local Home Depot in Payson , who had no idea what the installer was doing or the date they were to install.......after I had already gotten a date from the installer themselves to come to the house. He also was the one that offered the pathetic 10% off for my in convenience in this whole debacle and was supposed to talk to the general manager and get back to me and never did...... Liz from corporate head quarters.....who started me down the path of thinking corporate headquarters would help.......she failed as she also never followed through on calling back at a prescribed time......Alison was the next person I told my story to at corporate service and by this time up to many pages of notes of what all happened in this whole mess.......I thought she would help again as all of them agree to your plight.....but never follow through......she even called last week and wanted to know if the counters were ever installed........seriously.......they have been in for a month......and you were suppose to call several weeks ago with some resolution......oops I must have forgot to read my own notes.......and only had something on my calendar to try and follow up......sorry Alison.....that was 10 phone calls ago...... Then the final straw.......I again have to call in as I did not get promised callbacks from head quarter customer care service team.....and talk to Khadijah......who after reading through my many pages of file.........informs me that I need to name my price of resolution......he says this is the only way they will take me serious and deal........? really..........i tried to tell him I did not know what that should be as no one ever got back to my request of the breakdown of labor and materials as promised by Dewayne.....the so called acting manager in Payson. He insisted the only way was to name a,price........so I shout out in frustration.......$2500 as from what I can gather the total is around 4300.......and that would be about half...........by the way.....their offer.....$433....which is less than the coupons I get in the mail from them for being a loyal customer....... Anyway.....I am done......the corporate bull crap machine they have invented wears you down and that is their goal.......how much time do I need to spend on this......countless hours of frustration and time on the phone with individuals who do not keep their promise or care........ Lowes.........you will be my new customer........too bad Home Depot will lose my card.......14k limit and used in the past every year........ Find an alternative to Home Depot everywhere. We have spent so much money remodeling our home and most of it was at home depot. We bought 65 cases of laminate after THEY measured our home and told us that is what we needed. After the laminate was installed we were over by 3 cases. We went to return those cases and we were told that they needed to charge us a restocking fee of 15% on the 3 cases returned. WHAT? are you kidding me. Also, watch their ads. they send you an ad in the email and state that their is 30% off applicances, When you go to check out, they state that the ad said UP to 30% off your choice is only 10%. Miserable customer service and extremely arrogant and rude employees, specifically "NICOLE" who claims to be the store assistant manager. My wife and I returned almost $100 in plumbing supplies, some pieces with outer bags, some without, due to damage to the item bags when opening. These "parts of bags" remained with me in my shopping bucket while we shopped for other supplies. Eventually, I disposed of the "bags" under a pallet instead of looking for a trash can ( I take responsibility for not looking harder for a trash can). When I went to meet my wife in the garden area and to check out, we bought 2 large trees and a large bag of mulch. Their were 8 store representatives milling around us but absolutely NO ONE offered to help us load the trees or mulch. We are in our mid 60's and it was difficult. By the time we rolled our cart to the cashier, NICOLE and the other 8 store employees were huddled in front of the exit. NICOLE confronted me, then rudely and arrogantly pulled out the torn, empty bags I had disposed of and stated "don't you have something else you want to pay for?" I told her no, then explained the contents of the torn bags were plumbing parts that I had just returned. She glared at me and during the entire checkout process. Then NICOLE and four additional employees "formed a defensive line" at the exit hoping, I would assume, to hear the "beep" associated with people walking out of the store with items not paid for, or scanned. Both my wife and I were humiliated, to say the least. If you absolutely must shop at Home Depot, keep in mind you will always be subject to this obnoxious behavior from young employees that are disrespectful, have a bad habit of jumping to conclusions and above all, must feel they can serve as the Home Depot Police at their will, without being held accountable by anyone within Home Depot upper management or a dedicated security team of professionals. After several weeks of online shopping, I decided to purchase one of the garages setting outside in front of the garden center that sells for $899. The people working in the garden center as well as the ones at the counter were no help with the questions I had. As far as value, nothing on line came close. The problem I had was with the instructions. It has you start laying the roof from the top down, completely opposite of what I have ever done in roof installation. It literally took me four days of hard work to do about a two hour job if done from the bottom up. All they have to do is take the measurement from the bottom of the post to the bottom of the roof panel and give directions to install it the easy way. Having to shove each piece of roofing up under the one above was soooooooooooo difficult. Wish I had thought to go back to Home Depot and take those measurements myself before I got the top part on. read more
