I have been in this certain Home Depot and have noticed a decline in their customer service, stressed out employees, and poor management... specifically the store manager Albert. I'm not sure who the district manger is but I would certainly have some words for him. I usually come in there for materials in the evenings for my construction company to do some shopping for the next day. You can see the employees are extremely stressed out due to lack of help, other customers are are frustrated as well. There are pallets in the isles about an hour before the store is closed and you can hear loud rap music coming from the receiving area. I would be embarrassed to work there if I were an employee. They work with a Skelton crew in the evenings and there is still plenty of customers in the store and I always see several walk out due to lack of service. I advise anyone going in there to be aware. read more

I shop at this store several times a week, I own a small remodeling business. Several times I have been discouraged by lack of customer service and an even bigger lack of knowledge concerning materials they are selling. Of all the big lumber yard/hardware stores in Lubbock, The Home Depot on 50th is my favorite. They're usually well staffed, compared to the other big stores. And since I'm a contractor, between this store, the HD on the Loop, or Lowes, the big carts for lumber are the easiest to find at this store. Everyone is so helpful, knowledgeable, courteous and the store has so much to choose from and very clean and well organized. I started out at the Pro-Contractor counter. Spoke with Dan Mirelez, Pro Account Sales Associate and he was extremely knowledgeable, courteous, and polite, not only to me, but to another customer that was waiting to speak to him. He informed me about the Pro Contractor program and answered all of my questions. Jimmy, the assistant manager, was very helpful in answering questions I had about applying concrete over a present slab that was cracked and sloping. Do not purchase appliance from them. Such a major disconnect from purchase to installer. 3 times set up installation and waited for delivery. Every time they called, they didn't have the appliance and said the work order said the appliance was at my house. Our material wasn't packaged and secured properly so about $300 worth of material flew out the back of our truck. We searched until midnight and couldn't find it so we came back the next morning and David returned our material to us and let us know they had stuff available to secure next time. I needed a Wyze Pan Cam to help keep tabs on my cats when traveling, and the Home Depot website said they had them in stock at the location near my house on sale. Says they have 6 in stock and gives me an aisle and bay location. So I go over there, and there is no sign of the cameras where they were supposed to be. A super nice employee helps me look for them in the "cage" at the front where they keep the security cameras, but they aren't there, either. Then we finally find the SKU number for the product and check the "no home bay" where items stay before they are put in the appropriate location for sale. Not there, either. Then the guy calls the other location and all he could get out of them is that they "have Wyze cameras in the store" but won't confirm which ones. So I look online and it says they have four in stock. I drive over there and go through THE VERY SAME RUNAROUND. Not on where they're supposed to be, not in the cage, nowhere. Never again will I buy anything from Home Depot. I bought a couple of appliances and had them scheduled to have them delivered to me and it's was the worst experience ever! They changed my delivery date the day of actually during the time frame window they told me which was 11am-3pm and when I tried to get some answers no one could help or they'd give me the run around. I'm not able to get off of work during the week to receive my appliances in they're time frame so I wanted it delivered on a Saturday, well here I was having to wait for another Saturday to come around. I normally don't have any issues with this store, and I'm an extremely patient and tolerant kind of person (like to a fault) but this last visit was pretty aggravating. A corporate client of mine wanted a piece they commissioned from me to be painted, so I agreed to provide that service even though I'm not really set up to paint large furniture pieces. I went through over 13 gallons of paint, all purchased at the other location with no issue. in fact I was extremely pleased with every transaction/interaction I had over there. Toward the end of the job, I needed just a tiny bit more paint to do a couple touch ups, so I stopped by the 50th st HD to pick up a small sample size to be tinted to match the rest. I examined my options and chose a brand that was on sale for $.98, gave it to the guy behind the counter to be tinted. Without saying ANYTHING, he casually walked the sample base back to the rack i pulled it from and swapped it for a different brand, that was 6x the price. At the time, I thought I had just picked out the wrong base or something. I didn't notice he swapped brands until I got to the register and the price was what it was. $5 isn't a huge deal, and I didn't mention anything to the cashier because it would have served zero purpose, but its just the principle. If it was an honest mistake on his part then fine. But if he did it intentionally for whatever reason, well, then screw that guy. The end. read more

HD has them multi tasking. They are Hoping you'll walk the entire length of the store to self check. Customer Service needs to be engrained in employees new and old. read more

Lets start with the pros, if you're in the area then this is your best bet by far. If you know what you want/need the selection is great. The problem I've started to notice since the switch to the self-pay kiosks is that there are not as many knowledgeable staffers. So, if you need specific help deciding between two options you are better off trying to Google the answer rather then find somebody who can give you more then a guess. Fortunately for me I enjoy home improvement stores so I just wander around until I an idea how to fix the problem. One suggestion, (if it's open) always try to check out through the gardening registers. They are still manned by real men and women who know how to quickly check you out so you don't have to fight the damn check out machines. read more

Serious you might as well order on-line and hope for the best because out of 4 employees .... 0 had an answer for me .... i was inquiring about an LED conversion light ...another for tongue and groove beaded board ... he tried looking it up but neither of us had a connection ..next guy didn't know but he was with another customer... i did finally find it but only one pkg... dang it.. well obviously i knew more than they did... so no help there ... Don't buy the service protection policy plan from Home Depot. The paper, even as rough as it is will only be worth wiping your butt when you try and get appliances fixed through them. I have bought Sears policies (one of the best) and service has always been great even when we lived in more remote areas... but here in Lubbock, it is taking over two weeks just to get a technician out to LOOK at our dishwasher under the Home Depot policy and Nobody at the store cares. So save your money ( in this case it was $150) and buy Charmin Tissue. It is easier on the buttocks! read more

We had a very bad experience there last week. My husband who has shopped here for 20 years was humiliated in front of other customers by a cashier named Pierre. My husband who has trouble writing a check had asked the cashier to fill out check for him. They usually just let the machine fill it out. That night that didn't happen. Pierre told him he would have to fill it out himself. My husband told him he can't. Pierre was yelling at him in front of other customers about why couldn't my husband fill out the check. My husband told Pierre that he wanted to talk to the manager. Pierre proceeded to tell him"why, do you need the manager, what do you think they will do for you, you can't do anything to me, Your not anyone important that you can do something to me". Pierre is the worst human being I have ever encountered. He should not be working there and they should have fired him for speaking that way to a customer. He was there a few days later still working. Shame on you Home Depot for keeping that disgusting rude piece of crap that calls himself a man. Every employee there has always been courteous and a pleasure to do business with there. Not him. I will tell everyone I know about that employee. Shame on you. I had a horrible service here. I go to Home Depot at least 2 a day with work or repairing a house. Jacie who worked at the return and check out was soo rude. I use to tell everyone to come to here over any other hardware stores because of the selection and knowledgeable employees. But I don't think I will return anymore and the company that I work for and my father owns will never do business here again. A few days ago my friend and I went to this Home Depot location to rent a portable "carpet extractor" to detail our cars with. We were rudely acknowledged by an older man named "Archie" in the rental area. He did not greet us in any type of manner, he basically waited for us to speak and tell him what we needed. We asked for the EXTRACTOR, and he was confused. I then repeated myself and he said "so a carpet cleaner" and I then said "no a carpet extractor" (because they are definitely different) and he then repeated "so a carpet cleaner" and I just agreed to move on with the transaction. He told me to follow him to get the cleaner. He then proceeded to very very vaguely explain the costs and the rules to renting the extractor seeings that we've never rented one before. He did not explain anything at all. My friend and I were both very confused about the transaction, how much we were paying for the rental, how much we would be refunded for the rental and the general terms of the rental. When we proceeded to ask questions Archie then kind of looked at us like we were stupid and failed to explain anything as we asked. We were also not given any instructions for the machine itself which I don't believe is something that should happen. I don't know if he was having a bad day, or if he didn't appreciate our business because we are young college students but I did not appreciate us being treated in such a poor manner, especially since this was the very first time we had both been to this Home Depot location. read more

As part of my job, I have visited over 500 different Home Depot stores in the country. I've seen customer service standards ranging from amazing to almost frightening. I've had the opportunity to work with this store on a few occasions and I have to say... Don't go to this store. I've watched customers wait weeks and weeks for their product through the pro desk (which should have taken only days) and no one in the pro desk cared to help. Most of my experiences have been with the pro desk so I wouldn't want to give anyone a false impression about other departments in this store. However, if you are planning on working with the pro desk, plan to go somewhere else. A general apathy for product knowledge, customer service, and life in general has brought this team of mutants to an all time low in the world of retail. You're better off even spending more money at another store just for the assurance that you'll get what you need and not have to wait around until the end of time. read more
