I order flooring from Home Depot.com the order was picked up by FedEx and then lost. I never received the delivery and tracking shows it was never delivered. I contacted Home Depot and canceled the order and requested my refund. They had already charged my card. They sent my request to TRE (the retail equation). No idea who they are. They refused to refund my money. I explained that this is NOT a return, but I never received the product. They said that nothing they can do. DO NOT COME TO THIS HOME DEPOT GO 5 minutes down the road to south Elgin instead. Originally started my basement remodel at elgin Home Depot. Quickly realized on my first trip there that they have no idea that the fuck they are doing at all. I let elgin have the door. South Elgin did my tile, carpet, lighting, paint, and bathroom rehab and led installation the light basement in 2 weeks it's been a month and elgin just calls back to tell me that my door won't fit because it's to thin and "NO DOOR CAN FIT THERE" yet I'm loooking at a door in my basement right now and I open it everyday to go down there. Interesting people they have working there. Maybe stop hiring people who can't retire and hire people who actually know what they're doing. Contracting Home Depot to have my flooring done has been a nightmare experience. They picked out the wrong flooring twice, dropped off flooring to the wrong location, and have been unable to refund the entirety of the order because of "a glitch in the system" that won't allow taxes to be refunded from the order. I paid $7200 to have the work done and while the upfront price seems reasonable, the cost has been much greater. I took time off of work to have this completed and I cannot have my paid time off refunded. read more

Ordered a Samsung washer & dryer back in February 2022 do be delivered In May as we were building a new house. I called two weeks before our close date in order to confirm we were still scheduled for the date planned and we were on the schedule. Didn't receive the confirmation delivery call the day before so i decided to call them. CS rep said it was still early in the day and i should receive a call by 7pm to confirm delivery time. Not even 2 minutes after hanging up, another CS rep had called and let me know Samsung didn't ship our order and i needed to call them to confirm delivery. When I called them, they had advised our order was back ordered and the soonest it could deliver was the following week. Product got delivered a week later and within 2 days we had issues. We called home depot and they sent out a technician who advised we needed a replacement. When i called to schedule the delivery for our replacement, home depot advised they messed up and shouldn't have sent a technician from home depot that a Samsung technician should have came out instead. It has now been two weeks and I am going back between samsung and home depot both pointing their fingers at each other and the issue still isn't resolved. I will never shop at home depot for appliances again. If i ordered from you, why me, the customer, have to check on the status on my delivery as well as reach out to samsung to get delivery rescheduled. Also, the issue i am having home depot should be the ones to help resolve with samsung as we are getting no where with them, and they have the relationship not us. 5/2021 ****** Can I give it 6 stars? I can't say Wow enough for these guys. Beth and Maddie in the Garden section went way above and beyond to help my wife out this past weekend. Beth really extended herself to find some "hard to find" Zinnia plants, and Maddie had a great mannerism at the checkout. Each was helpful in their own way. But they were not the only ones. We live 10 miles away and only get to this particular Home Depot once a year maybe. Usually we use other ones much closer to home. This one has all of them beaten hands down! The others are fine. But this place had more staff to assist, friendliest staff we have ever seen, and were offered help more times than I can count! I only wish they could pick up this HD and all its staff and move it closer to my house! It would be my go to place for sure!!! Note for the store Manager. You must be doing something very, very right to have staff like we experienced both inside and outside. More smiles per mile in this store. Way to go! Nice job! read more

I've had two expensive installs screwed up by Home Depot. I doubt that I will be dealing with them again. My window install was postponed because of a forecast of 10% chance of rain that never came! My contract called for the blinds to be rehung - I had to go 5 weeks before they got around to that! Today I am waiting for my front door to be installed. I don't as given a 2 hour window from 8 - 10. It's past that tome - No call, no show. When I called Customer Care I got an answering machine. This shows disrespect to the customer. I guess I'll be looking at a competitor in the future. I finally reached someone, the door came in and is the wrong color! Also, the window installers accidentally put a hole in my window seat. I am still waiting for Home Depot to repair this! They claim they have nobody who can patch this. Both these installs were ordered in early May and HD still can't get things right. read more

We had another great experience with a Home Depot location. This location appears to be larger than the location in South Elgin- but is just as clean and well kept as the other store. We were here today to rent a Penske truck and also to choose some tile. For the tile, we were simply looking in the tile aisle, and three separate employees stopped and asked if we needed help. Some would find this annoying, but I really appreciated employees checking in, and that there were so many visible employees. Once we had made a choice, we asked one of the three for assistance, and they even walked us up to check out. We also stopped in to pick up a rented Penske truck. We made our reservations online, and everything was ready to go when we arrived. Through the online reservation you can see other equipment rental options, as well as insurance options- so we were all ready to go. They do a $150 deposit, so I suggest using a credit card instead of a debit card- but they even made that suggestion for us before we paid. The truck was ready and warming up as soon as the paperwork was started, and there were no problems when we returned it as well. I definitely recommend this Home Depot location! read more

This is definitely the worst Home Depot that I have ever dealt with. I bought a very expensive refrigerator here and asked them to price match with a competitor. Eventually they did but charged me for shipping because their competitor would have! My next experience was buying a surround bathtub/shower and arranging for my contractor to pick it up at the store. When the contractor arrived at my house we discovered that this was damaged by a forklift! This cost me one day of my time. The associates here are unable to tell you where to find anything and couldn't figure out how todo a return. I recommend driving to the South Elgin store where the staff is courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. read more

Simple things really simple things, an appliance light bulb for my range hood didn't have a regular size one, exhaust Hood filter, didn't have one in my size. Not a special size at all. Drip pans for my range, only round no square. What made it worse the I spent about 45 minutes in there searching, and not once did an employee offer to help. I'd rather fight the crowds at Menards and know I can get what I'm looking for today. read more

DO NOT use The Home Depot for your kitchen remodel project. I went through the Elgin IL store to get their assistance with changing the footprint of my kitchen because I assumed they would be experts who could coordinate the various contractors involved with the project and I was willing to pay extra going through them because it would save time and hassle. Starting out with the designer, I explained that I only had the ability to go up to the maximum for their project loan to cover the cabinets, counters, construction, plumbing and electrical and only $6k outside of that for appliances, flooring, backsplash, window dressing and light fixtures. I said that I needed to know if we could do the project within that budget or if I should wait a year to save up more money. She discussed it with her construction contractor for a few days and then came back to tell me that she was happy to say we could fit it all within the budget. Construction then began, with my walls ripped open and all cabinets removed, when they told me that the order was missing $9,750 for electrical items, even though I'd paid $12k already for electrical as part of the order. The things missed were all of the lighting locations and they said they needed to charge for removing existing electrical outlets in the area that the new kitchen was being installed and for adding power to the microwave they had in my floorplan. Shortly afterwards, they identified that they were missing all of the plumbing for my sink and that would be another $4k! I ended up having to put $10k on my Home Depot charge and they covered $4k for the sink, but this caused me to have an extra $500 a month in expenses for the next 2 years, if I wanted to pay that amount off with the 24 month free financing they offered. I also had no money left for all of the other things the $6k was budgeted for, including no money for a floor. Talking to store managers and the corporate resolution line, they lead me on for 2 months that they would find a way to help me and that they were working to give me money back for some of the electrical since a peer reviewer and the construction company allegedly reviewed the order before it was placed, but they were just stalling for the rest of the project to finish and then said they weren't giving any compensation for anything. I also spent 40 hours of my time following up with their construction contractor trying to get things scheduled. The cabinets were installed Nov 12th, but today is January 29th and they still haven't even scheduled when they'll come out to install the hardware pulls on the drawers. Another selling point the kitchen designer used was that, "we're not the cheapest, but we're also not the most expensive and we'll leave your house clean after working." This couldn't be further from the truth because their contractors left all of the sawdust on my garage floor each night they left, tore open a wall in an adjacent room that wasn't part of the project because it was easier to fix their plumbing mistake and left spackle all over the floor in that room after repairing it. They put up plastic sheets around the rooms they were working in, but when they left there was a fine layer of dust over everything, including the floor and counters. I had to wipe the entire kitchen down from top to bottom after they finished installing the cabinets. Do yourself a favor and don't make the same mistake I made in trusting these guys. Try Lowe's or private contractors instead. read more

All I needed was 6 vinyl blinds for a rental property. First of all, the selection in this store is picked over...the inventory hasn't been replenished so some of what I needed was in boxes 20 above on the rack. After the hassle of finding someone to bring them down for me, I noticed that they only had open boxes of some of the sizes I needed. All of this is very frustrating and feels very disorganized to say the least. I reluctantly purchased 2 open box items and by the time I got home I realized that BOTH had the hardware REMOVED!! So I drove a half hour back to the store hoping I could swap hardware from a different box so I could complete my project. After all I paid for two incomplete, UNUSABLE items!! Donna, who was working at the counter was just the worst from beginning to end. Her attitude was "NO" from the moment I walked up. She said if I couldn't find the exact same size blind that they wouldn't let me take the hardware from a different box, I'd have to drive another half hour to a different store. What a joke! I could just buy another size and return THAT one without the hardware which I explained. Again. "NO". When she called the store manager about this, of course he rationally answered "yes, of course" because as a customer I just wanted the complete items that I paid for!! Donna needs to find a different job than customer "service" in my opinion. read more

Never buy appliances here. They messed up our appliance order TWICE! The first time, they entered the wrong address for delivery. Even though the delivery truck was in our parking lot, they refused to deliver since the address was entered incorrectly by the store. I'm not sure where they went wrong, as it is correct on the drivers license they took all our information from... Therefore, we had to wait a week for the next delivery. My husband took the day off, unpaid, expecting this delivery!! The second time, same order! We got a phone call confirmation for next day delivery, re-verified correct address, everything was good to go. A few hours later, the delivery company calls again, saying the appliances will not be delivered because it was canceled since it wasn't paid. This order was on a brand new credit account, so we had no way to verify if they took a payment. We were in the store, took them at their word, as they promised /confirmed delivery. They didn't take any ownership and accused us of wanting free appliances. After all this mess, a day unpaid off of work, we never asked for a discount, compensation, or anything to be free. We let the order and account cancel and placed a new order, problem-free, from another Home Depot location. We will never be back here. read more

Do not hire them for your projects!! We hired them to sand and seal our hardwood floors. We won't ever hire them (or their subcontractors, GS Flooring,) again. From the day we told them we wanted them to do the job, it took them nearly a month and a half to come do the work. And this was only because I called them repeatedly (when I was told such and such would call...they never did). Their flooring guys, overall, did a decent job, but the detail work was hideous. There were: -unfilled holes from where I removed staples and nails -large cracks between wood strips -shoeprints in the sealant in the hallway -a hole under the trim and quarter round at the section of flooring they replaced -hairs sealed to the floor -clumps of sealant on the floor -quarter round pulled up along one wall and not put back -hunks of carpet hanging under wood trim that was not removed or at least covered by quarter round that should have been put back I had to call and have them come fix it. They were going to put me off for over a week until I told them "unacceptable, it's done now or I get my money back and someone else fixes it". To top it off, I had to pay in advance for a part of the project that was iffy as to whether it would need to be done or not (I knew I should have cancelled the job right then, but I thought "hey, it's Home Depot, it should be safe"). Wrong. Their subcontractors, GS Flooring, are claiming they did the work and I'm having to fight them for around $400. I was told I'd be called today with information regading two managers coming out, but I'll probably have to call and hound them myself since they never call like they say they will. Never hire a large company to do a regular contractor's work. You get mired in the inefficiency of bureaucracy. The only saving grace was that they did the job finally, did repair it to some degree, and Home Depot has very pleasant people on the phone. read more

Horrible service (they weren't short staffed since many of them were standing up at the front of the store joking around). I usually have to walk around for a good 30minutes to find a human in the Home Depots I've been to. Best Home Depot I've ever been to, without question. Yes, it's a typical HD, but the staff here are so friendly and helpful! They will approach you to see if you need help (with a smile), but not in an obnoxious-I'm-being-forced-to-ask-you-against-my-will kind of way, in a way that they actually DO want to help you! And they're all very knowledgeable in their departments! In a market saturated with home improvement stores, great customer service does really make a difference, and this store has it in spades. As a first time homeowner within the past month I have started frequenting Home Depot more now than I ever have before. Having been at several locations in the area, as well as the city I really think that this location stands out. It's not the largest store by any means but everything is laid out in a very easy manner to find what you need. The staff is VERY helpful. Not only did he find them, but he showed me how to load the stapler and even found some wood that we could test out the stapler to see if it would work for what I wanted to do. Normally this Home Depot is fantastic! I love the garden center especially. The staff is great and and helpful. This is usually my go to place! We purchased stain for our fence on Father's Day, 6/17/18 at 8pm and Monday am at 8am our painter realized we bought the wrong kind. Spoke to Frank over there who said we could return if he came right away and purchased the right kind. No problem, did that. Had the all clear with his permission to return it Tuesday night 6/19. Flash forward to Tuesday night, go in, don't know who this woman was at the service desk, but man was she just a witch of a woman! Had to get the store manager over to finally ok the return after speaking with frank and during this whole time, this woman whined and complained about it, which I don't understand because it really had nothing to do with her. It was all approved ahead of time. We had receipts and notes and she treated us like garbage! Thank you to the store manager for being completely professional but this woman ruined it and unfortunately we probably won't be back because of the way she continued to treat us throughout that entire transaction. I went to this Home Depot tonight because I was close by and needed some advice about a couple plumbing projects I am working on as well as to get a paint sample. I first went to the paint counter to ask them to create a color a little lighter than one of their paint swatches. Usually, they just add a little white to the color to get the new color. The girl at the counter said "I don't know how to do that. I can only mix what the computer tells me to". Fine. I walked away. I then walked around the plumbing section for about 10 minutes looking for someone. No one was around. I finally got someone to help. He took me the "plumbing guy". Turns out, he didn't know anything about plumbing. He told me "hey, I am just a part time associate who works in plumbing". Again, I walked away but this time, out the door. Home Depot has tried hard to prove to customers that they are helpful. This store fails miserably. Of the few people I found, none of them had the knowledge to help me. Take the time to go 5 miles south to the South Elgin location as they are much more helpful and knowledgable. read more

Flooring/carpet: Scheduled for a measure...they didn't show up. Had to go in and reschedule. Not a good start. Their big promo is "free installation" but when it's all said and done, they jack their prices up so high it doesn't really matter. Here's the other HUGE negative about all of it....if you want to change anything or deal with any issues that come up(carpet color, install, quote, changes), you have to call their 1-800 number and each time I did I sat on the phone waiting for a rep to answer for over 30 minutes each time. If you go in, the people at Home Depot call the same number and also sit waiting to talk to a rep. There is no personal touch...no rep that you actually work with. So, after dealing with this BEFORE I even ordered the carpet, I changed my mind and called a different company and I'm SO GLAD I DID! The price was lower. Also, be aware....they have a lot of "rules" about furniture and moving things and well...just forget it. read more

The best HD I have been to yet! I came in here to buy some fly paper, and was not sure how exactly this little cardboard tube became fly paper. The guy who greeted me at the door walked me over to the fly paper, and showed me which one would work best for my little apartment. I was unsure, so he actually opened one pack of fly paper and unrolled the tube so we could figure out exactly how it is supposed to hang up. Very friendly, not overly professional (like some other HDs I have been to)... It was a very comfortable atmosphere. I was happy that our fly problem would be taken care of (and it is), and wandered around for a little while, also buying a new plant for my patio and a shepherd's hook to hang it up on. Someone helped me out with figuring out what kind of flowers I was buying and gave me advice on how to keep them healthy (very appreciated, as the only thing I have been able to grow so far is mold). On the way out, one of the employees complimented my long hair, which was just the icing on the cake for me. Friendly staff, good selection, and an overall great experience. My sister and I had such a bad experience tonight. We went to exchange a fan, we had the receipt, no problem. We wanted to exchange it so the woman at customer service pointed to a wall and said " find a new one over there and come back." My sister and I walked to where she pointed and we found nothing but drywall and heaters. We started wandering around the store trying to find the apparent non existent fans. We asked another employee that just said " it's winter, we don't have them." Um, what? It's a normal household item, you don't have even one?? We walked to all four corners of the store and not one employee was able to tell us where they were. Finally we asked the nicest employee, I believe his name was Jesus, and he said, we only have a few, they are in the overhead area of aisle 41. He walked over there with us, got a ladder and showed us every one they had. He was awesome! He's the only reason we will ever be back at this location, unless they do some serious customer service training! read more
