Chicken curry, Pho, coconut milk boba teas
    Leslie R.

We ordered Pho and the chicken curry and both were delicious!! Also ordered a couple boba teas that were also good. My only negative is my side of veggies softened the to go box and the sauce leaked everywhere!!! Even KK the cat begged for some!

I expected a tender piece of pork belly and it was a cut unknown to me by sight and very tough

Was very excited to see another Vietnamese restaurant in the area. My friend and i stopped in for lunch yesterday. We were enthusiastically greeted upon entering. We both ordered the curry chicken. I give the dish a 10 just for the curry. I would pour that on ANYTHING. My chicken was a little chewy though. I also had the pork boa buns. I don't eat pork on the regular but Boa buns are my weakness. These were entirely disappointing and did not meet my expectations. I expected a melt in your mouth piece or pork belly and this was a very tough cut of pork and it was so tiny compared to the bun that gave the texture of microwave not steam. It was tough and chewy not soft and pillowy. I bought 3 fruit teas and a Vietnamese coffee for my friend and I! They were great! The customer service was excellent! I will definitely go back to try some other dishes. I just now know what I don't prefer.

Brisket pho. Sharable with the amount of noodles and meat they put

Such a great addition in this area. Parking was great and inside was spacious and clean. Our family of 8 was easily accommodated and didn't feel squeezed in. Food was hot and all tasty. We had the ultimate fries which were full of flavor and just a little bit spicy, wouldn't feed them to my kids under 8. Then we had dumplings. They were pork also tasty. The best appetizer was the fresh shrimp rolls, wish they had bigger or more shrimp but were still really good. All the kids got boba drinks only bad comment I heard was they wish they were more blended more. Thai tea was average. Pho was so good I usually add sauces and siracha but nothing was needed except for like the broth was great!!

I really want to like this place and it to be successful as it's unique to the area. I have visited several times. Unfortunately, each visit the experience has gone down hill. Food has been good and consistent and priced well. I especially like the chicken curry, pho special, and garlic noodles. However there is no service of note. Every time I've been there tables are always covered with dirty dishes and food. Very little to no interaction with serving staff to discuss the food/menu. Many of the other patrons just waiting around for their check or needing something. Overall, the food was good but I'm not convinced they know how to run a restaurant. Doesn't seem that someone is running the restaurant. Hopefully things will turn for the better and they can take advantage of a great opportunity. I won't go back for a while and will look for more positive reviews.

Grill pork rice plate. It's very different from what I had at other viet restaurant. I am not a big fan of this style.

The restaurant is very clean and staff are nice. The food is not good. Out of all the dishes, we like the pho but the portion is small

Some of the best PHO I have had in a long time! The flavored teas are also delicious. Give it a try!

The food is flavorless and boring, the drinks are good, but the food is not. Sad because Aledo could really use a good pho place

Great atmosphere and even better food. Boba and food were brought out quickly and the staff were extremely tentative and helpful.

It was quiet and had pretty art. I've had better pho and egg rolls elsewhere but I appreciated the service and relaxing atmosphere.

I ordered the fried cauliflower appetizers and garlic noodles with a level one spice. The flavor was bursting and the spice was there. The food was made to order and the service was fantastic. I liked it so much that I came back two days later and order the fried mushroom appetizer and garlic rice with full veggies. It was soo tasty and the portion size was two meals. There is so much I want to try on the menu. Oh, their lemonade with beet and ginger was refreshing.

ThaiBinh's totally vegan menu looks delicious. Every item has a photo and although I only have appetizer photos, our entrees were just as tasty looking. My favorite edible, though, was the battered and fried eggplant half moons with garlic and green onion ($8). The creamy interior in juxtaposition to the crunchy exterior was dynamite! I could order that again and again. Equally pleasing was the crunchy rice paper wrapped Spring Roll ($8). I'm sure the protein choice makes a little difference from roll to roll. We had the vegan chick'n. It was a good flavor component. We noticed that there are a number of new items (for us). I ordered the spaghetti noodles in garlic sauce with cilantro and I picked Oyster Mushroom as my protein ($16). In retrospect, this is a dish I would take home and add more veggies to. Which is what I did do with the leftover. The portion is generous and delicious; it's just a lot of pasta to mushroom. My husband ordered a side of broccoli ($8) and somehow he also ordered this enormous mound of seasoned brown rice with it. It was too much even for two people. We took most of that home as well. And still, exactly as I remember him, Chef/Owner ThaiBinh Ho is friendly and unassuming. He actually remembered me from the first time I wrote a review and asked permission to take his photo. His food reflects his spiritual philosophy and his joy in sharing it with customers at the Desoto Marketplace. There's oodles of parking here with food trucks outside and the food kiosks inside. There are two areas with tables and chairs if you want to dine in and there's picnic tables outside. Since there are other non-restaurant businesses here, too, you can browse while you wait. Restrooms are in the back. There's even a playground if you have small children. Hours are weekday only, Tuesday through Friday with a break in the afternoon.

While the bahn mi isn't exactly traditional, it is still very good -- I'd highly suggest getting it with the pate. The sampler appetizer has a little bit of everything and is great for sharing. Pineapple fried rice was delicious. Pad Thai also great! If you're a spicy eater like me, just go for very spicy. They have 4 spice levels (mild, medium, spicy, very spicy) and this is a reminder to myself to get very spicy next time. Thanks for the delicious meals!

A quick note on seating: the patio is lovely in theory, with the optional open windows and a breezy feel, but the chairs are not winning any comfort awards. Inside booths are the move. Also worth noting, this is Fort Worth, and once the thermometer hits triple digits, the patio conversation ends itself if the windows are open. Plan accordingly. Malai starts every table with steamed sticky rice and an eggplant dip, which is a charming little ritual and a genuinely good one. We also kicked things off with the Edamame, a heads up on the heat level there, and the Fried Imperial Rolls, filled with ground pork and shrimp and served with a sesame soy sauce. Fair warning: these do not photograph well and arrive at the table looking a little shy. Don't be fooled. They're flavorful, subtly spicy, and well worth ordering. For entrees, we tried the Basil Vegetable Fried Rice two ways, one vegan and one with chicken. The vegan version was a genuine surprise, with vegetables cooked just right and a flavor that didn't need the chicken to make its case. The mushrooms, however, had the texture of something you'd find in a hardware store. Chew at your own risk. The Green Curry, meanwhile, was a case of too much of a good thing. The curry was so heavy-handed it drowned everything underneath it. Sometimes restraint is a virtue. Save room for the Banana Pot de Crème. It's creamy, subtly sweet, and a graceful finish to the meal. The service at Malai is enthusiastic, and I do mean enthusiastic. The staff works as a team, all smiles, attentive, always nearby. Occasionally a little too nearby. More than once a plate nearly disappeared before we were done with it. It's a small complaint, and honestly a far better problem than the alternative. They're warm, cheerful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which goes a long way. Portions are generous, so order a few dishes and share the wealth. For a lunch stop between shops, Malai Kitchen punches well above its weight.
