When you see Rafa on Instagram you will notice he is really good at any and every style. He also likes comic book characters like me. Next thing you know, I found my artist. The inside of this shop is exceptionally clean. Even the restroom; spotless. Tips: try not to bug these guys for super small regular stuff. Would you ask Van Gogh to paint you a stick figure? Lol. Save your money, know what you want and get quality work for life!

I've been going to Aaron for a couple years now and he's absolutely amazing and my go to guy for traditional tattoos. I've picked things from his flash and also asked him to draw some original art. He's always professional, kind, and willing to work with me to make sure I'm happy with whatever design I'm getting. His work also always heals nicely and I haven't had an issue with scaring or loss of color vibrancy. The shop overall is very nice. All the artists there are friendly and it's very clean. I've recommended several people to go here and everyone has had a positive experience.

Long overdue, but I was incredibly disappointed about my first tattoo. I got it fixed at a shop in LA since then, but please proceed with caution if you choose to go here for the first time. I asked for a lotus flower with a reference photo & I was given balloons (?) The R looked like an N & the S looked like a nub. Also look at that e, what was goin on there, anyways, I wouldn't recommend this spot.

I finally found down the street from my house so the reviews were positive, so I called them they asked me to come in that same day and Gabriel who helped me nice polite professional. Clean, nice set up of a shop with music and screen TV's that play great old school movies, at least when I was there... lol I went in for a ankle name cover up that I had for 30 years. Gabriel did a awesome job. Great hand which I didn't feel much pain . Cover up with a nice rose. Yip the old faithful rose tattoo!

I had been interested in getting a tattoo for years now but never found the 'right' tattoo artist. A friend of mine had me look up Don Coyote (Hector) on Instagram & check out his work. He had gotten work done by him & I love my friends sleeves. He also had me check Rafas Insta & work & I actually chose to go with Rafa (bcuz of the attention to detail for my eye piece attached). I met with Rafa on a Friday for a quote (consultation) a few months ago & gave him a downpayment & set my appt for 1/26/21. (As I've informed Rafa, I typically am an impulsive person in which if I want something, I get it then & there & typically don't wait) but as he discussed with me, sometimes, with art work, it's not possible. I personally understood, these guys are artists & need not be rushed & if you want good work, the price & time put into the piece is important. I have my next appt set in 4 months. They do accept walk ins (if its possible) but prefer an appt to specifically dedicate a set amount of time. When I went in yesterday, the ambient was great & I felt absolutely comfortable. I went alone since my friend was working & I had the day off. These guys are all great & professional. I highly recommend them. [Side story, this is my second tattoo ever in my life & I waited 12 years before getting this new one. My first piece was a disappointment to say the least (the price matched the quality of work) & might get it covered up in a year.]

Didn't have a good experience at all. I walked in to an empty shop and the one guy that was there at the time helped me right away but was rude. As I was explaining to him what I wanted three more guys that worked there walked in all staring at me and making me feel extremely uncomfortable. I had wanted a small tattoo on my hand and he condescendingly asked if I was sure I wanted it there and that I should fear ppl judging me. Trying to embarrass me, and when I replied that I didn't care if people judge me he said that I should, coming from a person who has way more tattoos then me, like really dude? . So I end up changing my mind and placing the tattoo on my right wrist, when he was ready he called me over and told me to lay down for a wrist tattoo. It didn't make sense to me at all, I have my left wrist done and I got to sit in a chair for it. When I questioned him he told me that this was how it was supposed to be done. So I lay there while he did my right wrist feeling extremely uncomfortable and what makes it worse by the end he did a horrible job for such a simple small tattoo. I had asked for a cursive word and he couldn't get it right. In the picture you can see how where it's supposed to be a nice curve on the T instead it's pointy. This place was just all in all a very horrible experience.

I messaged Bryan online (Instagram) we made an appointment and when I came by he priced out the tattoos. He said a word is $100 (so it is. A little pricier than other places). Then for adding a small cross was another $50 so overall it was $150 But it is a nice place, clean, professional, nice dudes. He does hella good work and you can see on the pictures on his Instagram. Two other groups arrived after me for him so he's definitely in demand. He's a nice dude, like everyone else trying to earn his money. My tattoo came out beautiful, he's definitely a perfectionist which is AWESOME when it comes to a tattoo. I'm definitely coming again and I'm bringing my sisters.

What can I say I was introduced here to Adam by a coworker of mine I wanted a tattoo and he delivered I've also had the pleasure of getting blessed by Rafa the owner turns out he knows an old band member of mine small world. I'll start by the vibes. Very welcoming you feel comfortable and it's very chill. Always has some movie or music playin on the like 5+ TVs. I'm pretty sure all of my future tattoos will be in house as all artist have their own style and pretty much specialize in their own thing pretty rad!

Went in this last Sunday morning for a portrait with Danny and this guy killed it. It was my first big piece so I was kind of nervous but he made me feel as comfortable as possible. Turned into a whole day thing bc of tattoo placement but this man handled and made the experience super pleasant. First piece of many. Definitely hit him up for your next tattoo you won't regret it. This place is fucking amazing. You walk in and the vibes are great. Artists are laughing making jokes. Music is always fantastic. The work is beyond words. Every single person in the shop is a magician. Turing ideas into beautiful art. Been coming here for years and I don't think ima ever stop coming here. Shout out to the guy who always tattoos me. I was recommended to Illuminati Tattoo Lounge by my niece, and I would definitely recommend it, too. This place is clean, they're staff is friendly and professional. Good Vibes!!!!!!!!!!! She said Hector aka Don Coyote was the best tattoo artist she's ever met, she had a few tattoos done by him and they are sick!!! I set up an appointment with Hector and I was very happy to talk to him about the tattoo I wanted, he immediately understood exactly how I wanted my tattoo. Tattoo lounge is accurate for this spot...the inside is upscale clean and comfortable. The Artists are laid back. .. playing movies , music videos and laughing the whole time. Most importantly I'm super happy with the work Raul did on my arm. I rarely if ever leave reviews anywhere good or bad but as I'm saving to my favorites places on Yelp I feel I owe a big shout out to the ITL. I'll be back 100%!. read more

I've been going to Hector for my ink work since I was 18. He's always been very accommodating to the times and dates that I've scheduled my work to be done on me. There's not one style of ink that hector cannot do, he's your man! His style and techniques are always on Point. I can truly say that I will never be going to any other tattoo artist. I love my body art and couldn't be happier. read more

This review is long overdue, i came in this shop hoping to get my tattoos retraced and have them looking more alive and thick I have a cross and a tiny heart in between my fingers. Well I'd like to start off with how the environment was when I walked in, it was not friendly at all! I should have known something was off when "my tattoo artist" was extremely rude. I knew I should have walked out but I just really wanted my tattoos fixed. So as I sat there it was dead silent after he was done he told me the price $80 keep in mind that I already had the tattoos he did this in under 15 min. If I can be honest it wasn't even worth my time nor my money. read more

Illuminati tattoo shop is hands down one of the coolest and one of a kind tattoo spots I've been to in a long while. @don_coyote_tattoos on Instagram is one of the only tattoo artists I've trust this far to do a majority of my tattoos. Been going to him for years and he never dissapoints on his skill and craft when it comes to inking me up. When it came time to trust someone for a half sleeve that I've been wanting to do I immediately found him at this shop and had to set up an appointment. His attention to detail on all his work made it mandatory for him to be the tattoo artist for the peice. He does amazing black and whites as well as color tattoos. I've also referred friends and family and have never heard a complaint about his work. Hands down one of the best artists I've come to know in this business. I've seen him do amazing portraits as well. That's next on my list of what I'd be honored to have him work on for me. @don_coyote_tattoos check his stuff! Definitely recommend him and will continue to do so. The Illuminati shop is also one of the most nifty themed tattoo shops I've been to. Just check it all out.. you won't be dissapointed! read more

Forgot to come post a review about this place so here I am! I got my first tattoo here almost three years ago now . Danny did three of my tattoos and I have another one by a different artist so I guess you can say I'm highly fond of this place and their work! Danny also took the time to give me exactly what I wanted (which isn't hard when you're a good artist, that's how it's supposed to be!) He helped me a lot with my last tattoo and placement wise because I had no idea what looked best! He's also super friendly so if you go ask for him! If not , everyone in there is super chill ! They play good music& their new place is super cute ... definitely bigger than the last place too! They all pretty much have instagrams so if you go in give them a follow to check out their work! They post a lot of specialty every month for different things . That's actually how I got my second tattoo at a good price! Anyways , drop on by and check it out! read more

I've been going to Ryan @inkbytrip for over 7 years! He's the BEST artist hands down!! His work is super detailed, unique, clean, and he has a super light hand. He's able to do a wide variety of tattoos, anything from traditional to realism. I came in today as a walk-in for my first tattoo, but after how things went at the door I decided to try my luck somewhere else. The guy I talked to seemed stoned, he was going to charge me $120 for a postage stamp sized, one-color piece, and said it was going to take an hour to finish. Walking to the nearby liquor store to get cash (because he insisted it was too much of a hassle to use my debit card), I decided to move on and try my luck at a different shop. Wish I could say I had a good experience here, but that's just not what happened. read more

I love all of these guys, every single tattoo artist here does great work and they are super respectful and dedicated to what you want done. I researched there portfolios a long time ago because I wanted some bad work fixed do your research and walk in with the right intentions and you will get respected in return. Getting my first tattoo was so nerve wrecking because I'm such a picky person and I didn't want to regret getting it. I did my research and came across Bryan's work and was amazed, I messaged him on Instagram and he kindly gave me a date to go into the shop to speak about the tattoo. Went in and he was super friendly and told me he could do my tattoo as soon as he was done, I killed some time ate something and by the time I got back to the shop he was ready to tattoo me. But before that I was indecisive on the size and he was so patient and understanding. But let me just tell you I'm in love with my tattoo! It was honestly exactly what I wanted, just 2 weeks ago I went back with him for my second tattoo which was a bigger piece and like always I was not disappointed! I have been getting tattoos by Adam for 2 years now and I'm always itching to get another piece because his work is so amazing! I went on Friday the 13th for the $13 dollar special this last summer of 2014. My friend and I got matching tattoos of the puzzle piece (see photos). I expected a three hour wait and rowdy people so that wasn't a surprise. Maybe not even the BEST tattoo, but not something that would fade after a month. Which is exactly what happened. And I don't know how drunk my artist was but the line work is pretty messy. My friend who went right before me, well, hers turned out great. Mine.... not so much. I wasn't too concerned because every tattoo I've gotten comes with a free touch up if necessary. So I come into the shop a few months after getting it and asked about a touch up. I was rudely informed by the people in front that the only way that could happen was if I paid for more work and they could touch it up. Sooo add on another $70 minimum to fix YOUR mess? Dude. This is permanent on my body. Have a little more respect when taking a needle to someone, regardless of how much they paid. read more

Established in 2023.

The Hive Tattoo was founded in 2023 by Rafa and Elvis in order to provide collectors with easy access to world class tattoo artists. The lounge is conveniently located in central Orange County in the city of Fullerton . Walk-ins welcome, appointments preferred. Custom work ranging from Realism, Black and Grey, Traditional, New School, Lettering, Illustrative, and some of the best Cover-ups. The Hive Tattoo offers a staff of 7 full time artist/tattooist each with special skill sets. Immensities consist of a private tattoo room, food services, car washes and numbing for clients that require a more exclusive tattoo experience.

Meet the Business Owner: Rafael B.

Rafael Barragan (AKA Rafa or Ralph) is a self-taught artist and is among a new breed of tattooers, blending all facets of art into the world of tattoo. He pulls inspiration for his tattoo work from all styles whether it be portraits, traditional, new school, graffiti style, or fine art tattoos. Rafa has a way of making every piece personal, and with his ability to work in any style he developed the best way to crate Cover-ups. Rafa is a firm believer that a world class tattoo artist should be "artist" first and tattooist second. Each and every design is approached in a similar manner; he does so by merging the fundamentals of art that have withstood the test of time, and when applied to tattooing, the end result is a cohesive piece that is a true work of art. Rafa founded Illuminati Tattoo Lounge in 2012 then merged his new vision in 2023 for a fully custom shop with the help of his good friend and business partner Elvis to provide tattoo collectors access to world class artists.

(Review by Nick) World class tattoo shop close to home. Just had an amazing cover-up done by shop owner Rafael Barragan. He managed to cover a dark celtic cross with a beautiful black and grey filigree cross. The attention to detail is ridiculous and the whole process didn't feel rushed at all. It was fun to see the entire process from start to finish- from the rough sketch drawn right on my arm, to the creation of the stencil, line work, and finally the shading. Whole process took 8 hours, 6 of which was spent under the needle. One more session to go and I can't wait to see the finished piece! Location is a little hard to find since the signage isn't up yet, but I saw the signs in the shop ready to go up. *TIP*- The shop is in the same parking lot as Baskin Robbins/Sushi restaurant. This isn't your typical tattoo shop with flash all over the walls... these guys specialize in custom tattooing. I saw a few walk-ins while I was there, but it seems like your best bet would be to set an appointment. read more

I'm in the process right now of getting my arm done by Ricardo (r17) he's not only a great artist but laid back and willing to help you make a good decision of your trying to get roses done or lettering take it from me best dude in orange county to go too his work is on point no sloppy lines, and some of the most detailed roses you'll ever see. and come on why would you pass up this shop not only is the whole crew there cool as fuck, but you feel welcomed. there always cracking jokes and having a good time it makes the time pass by with a pain free experience. I highly recommend this spot to anyone looking to get quality ink and to have a good time in the process. Personally (r17) is my permanent artist. This is a cool little tattoo shop in downtown Fullerton I first ran into proof and he showed me around the shop one thing that set this place apart from the rest of the shops I've been to is that each tattoo studio has its own private room with the TV music and all the amenities which makes it a completely personal experience ask for Oathe he is a true artist in the old-school ways of tattooing something you don't find too often anymore not one of these trace pattern and slap it on you guys but takes the time to actually draw out a unique design that is one of a kind and belongs to the customer and nobody else their prices are very competitive and affordable makes me wonder how they do not charge more.. if you are considering getting a tattoo definitely check these guys out even a tour through the shop is worth 30 minutes out of your day read more

Getting a tattoo is always scary because its something permanent it took me a long time to get a second tatt because my first one wasn't as great as I wanted it to be... But luckily my sis in law found Bryan on Instagram and after forever we finally decided to hit him up to book an appt.. We finally got a tattoo from him and we loved it so much that i decided to try and book a second one a week after. I carry myself as a true professional and for someone to even think I would take advantage of ANY situation all at my expense just blows my mind. What these people don't understand is when getting tattooed on places such as a your thigh,chest,lower back, or any other delicate part of the body it will be a little up close and personal. So far I've been getting my work done by Rafa (the owner), he does thee most amazing tattoos every. Original artist that leaves you speechless with his work. I found Bryan on a friends page who recently got her roses done! I followed him on Instagram and saw he had a few posts of his work, and just those few posts got me to book an appointment with him to get some work done! The shop was super welcoming! My sister and I looked at 7 different tattoo shops and multiple artists before coming across bryan and none of their art work impressed us as much as his. He is very professional and courteous. I'll start off by saying I did not have an appointment. I'll arrived here Sunday around 1:30pm and to inquiry about some work to be done but the door was locked and I rang the bell they have outside and gave them a call multiple times without any answer. There was no signs saying certain days are for appointments only or even a "out to lunch" sign. Book with anybody but Carlos the Oath. This guy is never available. When you finally get ahold of him He lies and breaks appointments. Took a whole month to try and set something up and still he flaked on me. He won't reply to text and when he knows who's trying to call him he turns his phone off. He always makes excuses. It took me awhile to find a tattoo shop where they finally made me feel comfortable, came here and I loved the environment, all the artists are chill and welcoming, I've gotten a tattoo here twice and I don't plan on stopping. I definitely recommend anyone to come here and get an appointment with Hector ( Don coyote). He does amazing work honestly fell in love with my tattoo and so did everyone else, my friend set up an appointment once she saw my piece. He gives you suggestions but also keeps your ideas in mind and that's what I loved about him. Took his time and did not rush to get me out can't wait to continue on my other sleeve . read more

I went to this shop to see Mike Ortiz to start a sleeve and I let him know I wanted it to be floral and he started with a rose and I loved it so much we added another and only just beginning! He's so friendly and talented, it's been the best tattooing experience with him. I can't wait to keep seeing him for more artwork. I get compliments on my arm all the time. I've been coming to this location since @BryanGerardo started working here, he's done every single one of my tattoos (a total of 9 of them) and whether they're small pieces or huge six hour sessions he always does a high quality job and makes sure his work comes out perfect. I got a tattoo by Bryan in November of 2016 for my loved ones that have passed on. Still till this day i love my tatt, he gave me more then what i expected on detail and what i love is that it healed and its still dark. Very good vibe in this place! I walked in without an appointment and was immediately hooked up with the best case scenario for getting my first tattoo. Aaron was the one who helped me.
