Coffee options are amazing, and I will definitely miss the Winter spiced cold brew in the warmer months! The hot chocolate bombs look incredible but are in such high demand so definitely keep an eye on their instagram for a heads-up on the next drop. If you go in the morning, they have typical breakfast pastries like scones and croissants (delicious almond croissant!). If you go in the afternoon, you must get a confetti cookie! The whole aesthetic is amazing and beautiful. After looking up the best-rated coffee in the area, I decided to try this place. It's in a great location and has the most adorable aesthetic. There's indoor and outdoor seating, so there is plenty of space to hold a large crowd. The service was excellent, and all the ladies were amiable. I asked what was the most popular drink they served and was recommended the cereal latte. I was incredibly stoked to try it and was quickly let down once I took a sip. The coffee was pretty underwhelming and lacked in flavor and "kick" of espresso. It may have been just an off day, so maybe give this place another shot if I'm ever in the area. read more

Where to start. This is a small coffee shop that, apparently, offers a rotating selection of bakery items. The big draw is the small play area that is gated. I totally understand what it is like to be stuck in the house without another adult to converse. Getting out so the little ones can expend some energy while the parents chat is great. The play area has a variety of toys for various ages and the children played without any fighting. Personally, I think the play area should be for play and beverages should not be allowed. it is a corner building so the shop is bright with windows on 2 sides. There is limited seating so be prepared to share a table with someone you may not know ~ but easy to strike up a conversation. read more

As an avid coffee lover in Hoboken, I easily found The Hive within a few weeks of opening. The owners did such an amazing job creating a warm coffee shop for customers in the area that includes a play pen for little kids! Their specialty coffees are very good and their bakery food is out of this world!! I have to say my favorite part about it is the owners and workers. Their staff/owner is so nice and courteous. The Hive is a nice local coffee shop. The coffee and espresso options are pretty standard. I like that they make oat and soy milk freely available to add to your coffee. There's the standard pastries options inclusive of croissants as well. The atmosphere is pretty clean and modern. In the mornings, you'll see locals come in and out. By 9 to 10 am, you'll see the local moms and their kids stroll in. There's a kids play area in the back, so it can get loud at that time. Before I start my review, let me just say that I am not a mom, I live super close to this place, and I greatly miss Truglio's - the business here before The Hive. With all of that being said, I came to The Hive with a fairly open mind.... and I'm currently very torn on how I feel about this place. First off, I've tried the drip coffee as well as the matcha latte and both were very good - Like better than average good. The drip coffee is about $2.50 and the regular matcha latte is around $5 and then more expensive if you want a non-dairy milk. I ordered a larger matcha latte yesterday with oat milk and the total price came out to be $6.66. Not a very friendly number.... and perhaps a sign? *shrug* haha I'm just kidding!! But still ...that's kind of weird. Anyway, there is a lot of space inside for strollers and they have a play area for kids. There are a few shelves and a table filled with products - I remember seeing some candles, eco-crayons, play doh, etc. They also have a few tables and chairs outside to sit, but little to no seating inside. (This could be a COVID thing) All in all, this is a place targeted to moms and families. I can see moms coming here to spend the afternoon or grabbing a quick coffee and snack. Overall, to me, this place is probably a once in awhile quick coffee run. read more

There are a lot of cute coffee shops in the area and I'm happy to report The Hive is up there with the best of them. The space is airy and very Insta-friendly, with a great curation of locally-made gifts/products to peruse while you wait for your (delicious) drink. I don't have a kid, but do love and appreciate that there's a play area while parents take a breather for their caffeine fix. Such a great concept for this area! What really separates The Hive, though, is their customer service. The barista/owner is very friendly and personable... and on the times we've taken our pup, they have a treat ready for her without fail which is super thoughtful. Thoughtful is a great description of The Hive - from the concept to the service, they are thoughtful of your experience in their shop. For instance, on my last visit there was a child who was having fun (but loud!) in the playroom - the staff at The Hive did not embarrass the parent/child and force them to curb their enjoyment. But mindful of other customers' experience in the shop, they offered free cookies to enjoy with our drinks. Thoughtful, right? Long story short - I love this shop and will definitely be back soon and often. read more

I spotted this place on maps when I was in the area. I decided to walk here on my day off from work to check out their menu. I got the special gingerbread chai with oat milk + espresso (dirty) iced. DELICIOUS. The staff are very friendly as well which is always a plus! The line was out the door which is also a good sign. This place is beyond overhyped. It is just a place to go to if you want to have an "aesthetic" looking drink to post on your socials but that's all that there is to it. My boyfriend and I ordered a Neapolitan Iced Latte with whole milk and an Iced matcha latte with almond milk & strawberry cold foam. The cold foam was the only good and enjoyable part of these drinks. It was our first time going here and we didn't even realize that we had received a cold brew instead of a latte for the Neapolitan latte; which was bitter and honestly undrinkable. We drive 45+ minutes to get here just to wait on line for twenty minutes for the coffee to taste so horrid plus be incorrect too? It went straight to the trash. We wasted our money and time. The matcha was not true real matcha, it was muddy and tasted like straight up milk. The people who own the hive should do their research when it comes to making drinks that are of Asian culture. OBVIOUSLY the Cinnabons and the coffee and really everything else are incredible. But the reason I'm writing this review is because the people that work there are the nicest. My husband and my 9 month old daughter took a stroll at 9 am to get some coffee and Cinnabons. We waited about 30 mins. When I got to the front they said they only had one left! So I said I'll take it (and of course share it with him which is honestly more than enough since they are so big! But I heard the person behind me got a Cinnabon... and they also looked like they had some left in the tin. I didn't want to cause a scene but I was annoyed and thought maybe they didn't hear that I wanted 2? So I asked and they said I got the last one and the owed that person one from a previous situation. She felt so bad and offered me a smaller one that was too small to sell.
