The Himalayan is a hidden treasure. Jon, our waiter, was amazing. The butter chicken was to die for and the garlic naan is well worth the add on. Love love love!

This place was phenomenal! My friend and I were visiting from out of town - we live in a pretty big city so at first from the outside The Himalayan didn't seem like too much to be wow'ed by but rather another small shop in a small court. But stepping inside, the restaurant looks very nice and the staff was quite polite. We ordered the creamy chicken curry and basa fish grill to split and it was a good amount of food for us. The basa fish was really tender, and the vegetables at the bottom was able to soak up a lot of flavor. They gave us naan with the curry and two plates of rice for the fish, I was surprised we weren't charged for an extra rice. We ordered both items spicy, and really enjoyed it! There was a nice kick but not overwhelming

Overall good dining experience. I'd say the portions aren't as big as I expected. The entrees come in With rice and plain naan on default. The garlic naan was +$2 and it was interesting we got 3 pieces for garlic naan but only 2 pieces for plain naan. We were expecting family style so maybe that's why the portions weren't as big as expected. The mango moi (mango lassi) was the best I've had for a while - highly recommended. The mango rice pudding was underwhelming I didn't like the taste of the spices and I don't think the rice texture in it add much to it. I much prefer the mango moi. My favorite dish that we ordered was the chili paste stir fry with fish. It was a bit salty but I liked the chili paste and the fish was very soft.

Hands down the best meal I've had in Calgary. Was excited to introduce momos to a newcomer to Nepali cuisine, and was blown away by the food myself. Amazing spices, delicious options and great service. We had the pork momos, spicy grilled fish and the lamb platter with a beer. The pork momos was an immediate hit. Heavy on the cilantro and bursting with flavor. The spicy grilled fish was too spicy for me to eat, but the mouthful I could handle was delicious dispite the heat. I wish I ate spicer food so I could have more! The lamb platter was the perfect meal. Each little bowl held a different texture and flavor which could be matched or contrasted in every bite. I loved that it cam with naan (amazing btw) and even a post meal tea and dessert. Will be recommending to anyone that plans to come to Calgary!

Nepalese food at its finest... I mean this quite seriously. My family and I have been frequenting The Himilayan for years--it's definitely on our restaurant rotation. A bit of a special occasion place for us. Nepalese food is the perfect mix of Chinese and Indian--packed full of flavour. After eating at the Himilayan for years the bar for Nepalese food was high. I'm thinking back to 2018 when my sister and I decided to go on a trekking trip in Nepal. We had all these expectations about the food and were sadly let down for almost the entire trip. Nothing lived up to what we'd had back in Calgary. Curious. Luckily we've got this gem of a restaurant! The Himilayan has it all: great atmosphere, wonderful and attentive staff, and food that is worth talking about. It's family friendly and is great for accommodating everyone! Above is a photo of some of the delicious dinners from my last visit! Here's a quick summary. RATING: 10/10 - The Himilayan We've had the Chau Chau, Takari with Lamb, Chili Stir Fry, Butter Chicken, Himilayan Eggplant and not pictured but an absolute must is the Momos (any type will do!). The above order is pretty consistent for me and my fam. Everything is as incredible as the last. A particular favourite of mine are the Momos, they're simple but so comforting. When Tess and I were in Nepal we had them every which way: steamed, fried, all the momos at all the meals. Another top pick is the Chili Stir-Fry, it's sweet, spicy and oh so yummy! The serving style at the Himilayan is different and efficient. All the dishes, with the exception of Chau Chau, are served in bowls on a long plate with rice, potato salad and naan so everyone gets their individual portions of each. The curries are placed in the centre for everyone to dig in family style. It's brilliant! The Himilayan is currently doing take out--make sure to fit it into your order-in schedule.

Okay, this is truly a "Diamond in the Rough". Hidden between a fish restuarant and a pet shop minding it's own business, all the while, creating some the best mouth watering dishes to satisfy any hunger. Each dish is prepared perfectly to deliver an experience that'll keep your taste buds wanting more. Oh and they have several Vegan options that are amazing. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

Incredible food. The best Nepalese I've had in my life. My fiancee had the Himalayan lamb which came on a grill with long yellow rice, a cold potato dish, and lentil soup. The meat was juicy and flavorful. I had the butter chicken which was tender and savory. The sauce was also an incredible complement to the naan. Servers checked up on us just enough without making it feel intrusive. Very excellent food and attentive service. I wish I lived here. I would come to eat every week if I could.

Basa Fish Stir Fry

The food was overall delicious. The pork momo was so juicy, I could not get enough. The Basa fish was soft and wonderfully spiced. The lamb curry that was part of the dal bhat was slightly dry for my taste. But I did enjoy the sides that came with the dal bhat. The servers were attentive and friendly. And the environment was relaxed but well decorated and maintained. This is a great place to visit if you are in the mood to maybe try something new that's delicious and reasonably priced. It's great for families with children or a couple looking for a date night.

Nom nom nom. Came…read morehere with my mom the other day and we're both hooked! This place comes highly recommended for their dosas (which I had never heard of) so we both ordered the butter chicken dosa and a coconut rice. We were both blown away by our meals! The presentation is really fun, the flavour was mind blowing, and we had more than enough to eat for an excellent price. We got to meet the chef afterward, who was incredibly friendly and told us about how dosas are made and what spices he uses. The decor may be a little wacky, but I didn't really care. Our server wasn't very helpful in giving any pointers about what we should order, but luckily you now have this review to help you! The downside was we had a bit of a wait because they were short handed in the kitchen. However, the chef was very gracious and the food was worth the wait. Come a little early if you're starving.

Inside the decor is kind of tiki meets outdoor park, with little fake birds and plants adorning the walls, music and bird song matches the decor. Do not think that the kitschy decor will detract or diminish the food experience....!!!! The restaurant is clean and will definitely give diners lots to talk about too. The food is delicious and portions are good. The dosa masala is huge, crisp and very good. We had onion pakora, chili paratha and a chicken biriyani to round out our dinner. I could have absolutely gourged myself and not left anything but we took leftovers home which I was super excited to eat. Prices are reasonable and will make this one of my go to spots for Indian food for sure! Spicing is good and flavours are really very good. There is lots of parking and honestly I'm planning another visit sooner rather than later. Service is a little timid but very friendly. Go visit them you won't be disappointed!!!

We ordered this food from Uber Eats and weren't overly impressed…read moreAlthough the chicken momos were great, the dough was thick, the chicken was seasoned perfectly, but the sauce was really hot. They should provide a 2nd sauce. We ordered the sweet and sour pork, which came with white steamed rice which we liked since most places you have to order rice separately, but the cubes of pork were so small, lean and quite dry and the carrots tasted old. We ordered the phingsha which was overpriced for what it was. Portion size was very small, the beef was dry and chewy. We would like to come back and try some other items, but we weren't overly impressed with our choices other than the chicken momos

Our food was prepared quickly (20 minutes), packed efficiently(i.e. remained hot and intact in their containers without any leakage), and was ready for hubby to pick up when he arrived. #3. Momo Platter($16): these are definitely our favourites(we prefer them steamed)! The platter includes 4 beef, 2 vegetable, and 2 tofu momos that should be eaten with their homemade chili oil sauce. #25. Chicken Gyathuk($14): this is like a chicken ramen with bits of vegetables in a flavourful broth. The chicken is shredded/torn and very tender. #26. Beef Thenthuk($14): this soup hits the spot and is so comforting on a chilly day like today. I love the thick, chewy hand pulled pasta which reminds me of the Xi'an biang biang noodles. So, in response to Jonny M., I'm sorry that you were disappointed, but these noodles are not like Chinese la mian! #27. Beef Mokthuk($16): what can we say? This soup is another winner! There are plenty of beef dumplings in this bowl for three to share!
