Super easy to order and fast service. Lobster roll was fantastic - warm and buttery. Ambiance gives retro diner vibes

FRIED LOBBY POP

Came by for a lobby pop! Super kind and attentive service !!! By recommendation I got both the lime and garlic sauce on the side and really loved both!! The lobster pop breading was delicious and the lobster inside was generous! They had some fun movies playing, an outdoor patio and the bar seating was immaculate! Great margarita too! I heard they have happy hour!

Service was exceptional! Food was amazing! Decor was so fun! The place was decorated for Christmas and it was so very festive. We arrived and came through the curtains. We were seated at the bar rather quickly. And service was prompt. We got a few beers. They were good, excellent variety! The lobster taco with lobster butter was amazing. The taco was all cheese!!! It was so good. And that strawberry shortcake was just over the top. Made us think of strawberry cereal or those ice cream pops with the strawberry crumble. Just out of this world. The people that work here also obviously love their job. Kudos to this awesome High rolling team.

Came here after trying all the lobster shacks near Acadia with high expectations. We did outside seating since the inside was packed to save some time, but it took almost an entire hour for us to get our rolls, which IMO is pretty ridiculous. It got to the point where we just got it to go as it wasn't worth waiting around in the rain outside for so long. (We weren't the only ones as numerous people around us were also complaining and asking about their food) The lobster roll itself was pretty average. After eating the ones in Acadia, this was a step down for me. It didn't taste as fresh and the portions were smaller. For the wait time, I felt like it wasn't worth it and would've just eaten at someplace else.

Pro tip: If you don't mind not eating inside the restaurant, ordering to go will save you a LOT of time. The roll was on the petite side, however what it lacked in stature it made up in flavor. My wife and I tried around a half dozen lobster rolls in Maine and this was our clear favorite. We favor Connecticut-style rolls though, so YMMV.

Onto my 3rd lobster roll tour and high roller is my top Lobster Roll choice, Came in around 930 pm Thursday, greeted and sat down right away. ordered 2 lobsters roll, oysters and cocktail shrimp. 4oz Jalapeno Mayo and 4oz Mango Habanero lobster roll both were by far the best Lobster I've tried in Maine. I prefer my lobsters to be warm/hot. the jalapeno mayo and mango habanero mayo both were really good. The roll itself was soft and buttery. This is how a lobster roll should be in my opinion. Definitely would come back and devour these lobster roll again. Cocktail shrimp- was decent, could of been bigger, nothing special, I've had better, wouldn't order this again. Lucky 7 oysters- decent size and taste, nothing special, I've had better

Hr Chicken Sandwich is delicious!!! My favorite chicken sandwich around now.

This place is fascinating. They are always so busy, yet, every time we go there is a seat available for us!! It's pretty awesome, because I hate waiting for tables. LOL We have only sat outside on the patio, which I prefer, because it's not as loud and Maine in the spring and fall time is just beautiful. The outdoor seating area is made up of picnic tables. You can order via a QR code or you can go to the window that faces out to the patio to place an order. The tables had utensils, napkins and condiments, which is great. Because the food can get a little messy depending on how many sauces you order :) I love the ordering process - so easy and you can customize a lot via the app. and in the times we have been, our orders were 100% correct. Because you are ordering via the app, there's no preceived pressure to order everything at once, you can order as you as wish. We started with drinks, got some snacks a bit later and once we were done with those, we decided we would order "meals". Everything still comes out pretty fast - hot and delicious! I haven't had any of their lobster offerings, however, friends have and they seemed to enjoy them, although they were not too impressed with the prices. I love the hamburger and the chicken sandwhiches here. Soooo good and they are always cooked perfectly. I love the curry ketchup. YUM The servers here are fast and friendly. They are always zipping around, filling drinks and food orders. They are not slackers. I do not like the parking options, however, if I'm ever in the area, I would definitely consider having a meal here. Thank you for the Amazing Staff at Highroller!

Second time here and as good as the first. Got two classic lobster rolls with jalapeño mayo, got an entree size lobster mac. Everything was perfectly delicious and would def keep coming back. Tons of great local beer and a Bloody Mary that could be the best I've ever had. Enjoy!

Fish and chips with two choices of dipping mayo and a lobster Mac and cheese

As you walk through the lobby area you are taken back in time with an old fashioned diner complete with a mom and pop retro shop with tee shirts and sweatshirts for sale. Inside the restaurant you have a choice of booths, high top seating and the bar counter. Pop rock plays overhead while a disco ball shines a bit of delight into the atmosphere. The food was outstanding. My haddock was so fresh, light, juicy and flaky. The batter was delicious cooked perfectly The fries were perfect seasoned. I wanted more but could eat anymore! The lobster grilled cheese did not disappoint. It was finished in record time. Enjoy. Definitely worth the trip!

LOBSTER BISQUE

So I wanted to see what all the hype was about with lobster rolls in Maine / New England in general lol. As soon as we walked up to Highroller, there was a crowd outside and I was like omggg. We put our name on the list and the wait was about an hour. Thankfully, there are a bunch of shops nearby, so we walked around while waiting, which made it way more doable. When we came back, our table was ready and it was outside, which I didn't mind since it wasn't cold yet. We ordered lobster bisque right away and each got our own lobster roll. My husband got his with lobster ghee and jalapeño mayo, and I played it safe with butter and lobster ghee. The lobster bisque was amazing super rich, filling, and honestly I would've been satisfied just eating that alone. The chunks of lobster in it were sooo good . The lobster rolls were also really good. The lobster ghee paired perfectly with the meat, and the bun was soft, buttery, and had that slight crisp. The only thing that felt a little off for us was that the lobster meat seemed a bit fatty in the rolls, which kind of threw us off. Overall though, it was a really good experience and definitely lives up to most of the hype.

As always this is hands down the best spot in Portland. If you only had a day, this would be on the must list. The food is exceptional. From the oysters, lobster rolls, lobster grilled cheese, etc. everything is really tasty, fresh and fun. A retro diner experience without the downside of an actual diner. They have 90's shows and cartoons playing. Jello shots for the win and you can watch the shucker get to business in the front of the restaurant.

For last night me, I wanted more lobster! But we had our dog and didn't want to sit outside. So I ordered a highroller to go. We got the lobster grilled cheese, and a lobster roll combo with three different rolls! Everything was very good even after a few minute drive back to the hotel the lobster grilled cheese with Dean and one of the best I've ever had! I ordered it online through DoorDash, and it was ready right on time right as I walked in. There was a line to get in, and I can understand why. A great place to eat in downtown Portland, Maine.

We were here because we were on a cruise ship that stopped in Portland, Maine. I think it's kind of standard that if you go to Portland Maine, you absolutely must have a lobster roll. Thanks to the Yelp crew and reviews, we found this place , and we are so glad we stopped We came on a Thursday at about 130 and it was a 45 minute wait for inside but if you wanted to sit outside, there was no wait because it's quite cold out today - But if you sit out back, there's actually walls all around so it's not so cold They sit you down with a menu and you can scan the QR code at the table and order yourself or you could go up to the bar They have a nice variety of draft beers, as well as cans and wines along with soda and other drinks We placed our order right away for two regular 4 ounce lobster rolls. My husband got the mango habanero mayo, and jalapeño mayo on the side. I got the regular mayo and the red pepper mayo also on the side. We took our first few bites without any sauces. My husband runs up, adding the mango habanero to his and towards the end they put a little mayo on mine both were absolutely delicious and worth every penny and the wait. Each 4 ounce lobster roll was $34. We also got a basket of french fries that are coated in old bay seasoning which was also cooked perfectly

It feels like a secret, but I know it's not a well kept one! Our server Nico (apologies if I've misspelled that!) was wonderful. He was friendly and helpful when we made our dinner choices. The other servers were also always on top of keeping our table clear and our water filled. The food was absolute perfection. We started with a salad and grilled octopus. The salad was bright and acidic which paired perfectly with the best octopus dish I've had. It was so tender and delicious, I've never had octopus that was that tender. The grilled flavor came through immediately, but never overwhelmed the delicate flavor of the octopus. For mains I had sole francaise and my husband had bone in monkfish. The sole was melt in your mouth good. It was lightly breaded and cooked in a pan with brown butter. It was so toasty and nutty and coated the green beans and simple, but perfect, red potatoes it was served with. My husband's monkfish was fresh and perfectly toothsome, served with fluffy Roman gnocchi and romesco sauce. My only regret is not having enough room for dessert because I'm sure it's incredible as well! I can't wait to return the next time we're in Portland. Just to note: this is one of the least accessibility-friendly areas of the city. The old cobblestone road that it's located on is foot traffic only. The closest approach is if you're dropped off at the end of and it you would still have a short distance to travel. There is a brick footpath on the sides of the cobblestone road that is slightly smoother, but still not ideal. Earlier in the day I was able to navigate the street okay on foot so it will depend on your capabilities. That being said, I took my motorized travel chair down there in the evening and Street and co were happy to let me fold it up and store it near the door.

It had a slightly slimy texture and the pasta was mushy. The clam chowder was fine but tasted like it had been reheated and not made all that recently. I had a lobster roll from their food truck a few years ago that I ate outside on a summer day and it felt special. This visit did not feel that way and instead more of a perfunctory meal. The bisque was too sweet and had very little lobster. The mussels were the highlight of the meal. The sauce of cider, mustard and dill was very interesting and had deep flavor. The bread served with the mussels was also delicious. The cloverleaf rolls were great too, but perhaps a little too soggy/greasy from the butter at the bottom of the skillet. For our entrees we had the scallops and the halibut. The scallops were delicious- nicely seared and served with mushrooms and a green pea sauce which was bright and flavorful. The halibut however was not my favorite. The fish itself was cooked very well with a crispy skin, but it was swimming in brown butter and hazelnuts and lacked depth of flavor. It also seemed like an odd choice of flavors for a spring menu. It was served with potatoes that needed a bit more salt. We were too full for dessert and also didn't finish our meals. We sat around for a fairly long time not touching our meals without the server checking on us. Eventually we had to flag them down to get boxes and pay the check.
