The concept of the Hideout is pretty simple - a bar in front and a small venue in the back. This was the first time we'd been there, and went to see a band a family member is in. The bar is good. It's dark and they have lots of different beers on special. Not being a beer drinker, I had a bourbon. The price was pretty good. Their selection isn't huge, but it isn't a very large bar either. The venue is small and lined with curtains for sound baffling. There is a stage at the end of the room, about eight tables - four on each wall. The rest is open space to stand and watch the acts. Being small, the acoustics could be a little better. Of course, the bands are loud and mixing the sound in a small space is difficult. I think the sound person did a great job to compensate, though. It was fun and I'm sure we'll be back to see more live music.

A local with lots of character. The venue for performances is divided from the bar! The venue is decorated with many fish mounted on the walls. The bartenders were quick and were able keep up with the demand, and prices were very reasonable. My son....Low Groves performed here and it was a great venue ( on Spotify ) . The sound was excellent and the venue was perfect for his Chicago debut, he is based in Charlotte. They have many shows and performances scheduled in the upcoming months! A great venue!

As much as I love attending music performances at The Hideout, it's events like this evening's that really grabs me. Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky is being interviewed by Politico's Shia Kapos about the results of the Presidential election. The discussion and Q&A are really helping me process the results. Thank you Hideout!

This would be your local music joint. But it's hidden in an industrial park. On the other hand parking is plentiful and the drinks are not that expensive. The space is on the small side so come early if you want seats. Acoustics are pretty good the bands not bad SamaSama project- it's cabaret week in Chicago- life is good

A cool little concert venue in one of Chicago's newest neighborhoods, Lincoln Yards. This place is divey in all the right ways, and I can think of nowhere better to grab a drink and watch a shocking amount of 60-something white women rocking out to jazz/hip-hop fusion. This was an utterly confusing experience, and I don't know if it's the norm here, but I really, really hope it is. Drinks were all around $5-10, but there is a $10 minimum for card, so either bring cash, get on the same tab, or don't be such a light weight and buy two drinks. Also def use the bathroom that's inside the concert area; when you walk in, it's dark, but there is an automatic light above the raised toilet that turns on as you get close. Needless to say, I felt like royalty, and you could too. There's lounge(ish) area close to the bar where you can chill with your friends if you're not feeling the music. It's not close to any of the CTA lines, so it could be tough to get to if you don't have a car, but if you do have one, there is tons if free parking outside. Overall, I loved this as a concert venue, and I think once the neighborhood develops a little more, this will be a really cool hangout spot for locals

Love The Hideout! The difference between The Hideout at 4pm and 8pm is insane. I went this past Wednesday to meet some friends for their Veggie Bingo. Veggie Bingo starts about 6pm during the summer on Wednesday - it's over for this year though. You can find more details on it in the separate listing here: http://www.yelp.com/biz/veggie-bingo-at-the-hideout-chicago. Being the beastly girl that I am, I got to the bar about an hour before my friends, plopped myself at the bar and started guzzling down cans of PBR. It was a HOT day and I cannot even explain how amazing that first sip of an ice cold beer in a can was. Melted my ice cold stone heart a little bit. As I sat there drinking, messing around on my phone, I looked over their beer menu written on a chalkboard. They had some pretty good selections for cheap prices. Now I got a non-tall can of PBR for $3. I was kinda sad that they didn't tell me any specials and about half hour later they put up a sign with some tallboy cans for $3! Another strange thing was I got my first tallboy for $3 and the second I was charged $5 for the exact same drink. Eh, whatevs. At 4pm, it was just me and the workers hanging out which was cool. Now for Veggie Bingo we went into a big room in the back and when we left at 8pm, the inside and entire patio was jam packed. I'm talking people sitting around everywhere outside - at the tables but also also on the sidewalk, on the grass, on ledges. This place is clearly the hip to be spot and I definitely didn't guess it when I first arrived. The good thing about going when I did was I snagged a parking spot right out front - score! I had a really fun time and plan to go back next year for Bingo. I'm sure I'm going to pop in way before then though because I enjoyed the bar.

Ask the Community - The Hideout

Whats the parking like over there.?

It's super easy to find street parking near here as most nearby businesses are closed by 5pm.

Are babies allowed to come in with parents going to a show?

No, loud music isn't so good for babies.

What is it like on New Years? Is there a cover?

If they don't have an event party or music, it should be free and I wouldn't think it would be crowded.

Can people 18+ get in to the Saturday dance party?

I don't think so- unless there's an 18 and over show

Ghost Donkey - Chicken Tinga quesadilla

We originally came to Ghost Donkey as paranormal investigators, after being hired to locate the…read moremissing ghost donkey belonging to a local agave farmer. The case had gone cold--or perhaps mezcal-hot--until we received a clue pointing us toward River North. Ghost Donkey is spacious, colorful, and full of energy, with plenty of bar seating and tables. The music can get loud, but it fits the atmosphere perfectly. The bartenders were constantly interacting with guests, swinging the lights, encouraging the crowd, and turning the entire room into a neon-lit fiesta. They do have a food menu featuring items such as tacos, nachos, quesadillas, and guacamole, but we mostly came for the drinks. Many of the cocktails are tequila- or mezcal-based, which is exactly what we enjoy. The menu is creative, the drinks are strong, and the bar does an excellent job making agave spirits approachable--even for guests who may not consider themselves mezcal experts. After two drinks and an argument with a decorative donkey, we finally found the missing spirit hiding behind the bar. He was translucent, smelled faintly of roasted agave, and appeared to be carrying a tiny map. We followed him through a glowing hallway, down a staircase, and into a secret chamber where he revealed the legendary piñata of Quetzalcoatl, the ancient feathered serpent god. Naturally, we attempted to break it open. Instead of candy, it released a cloud of mystical dust, three lime wedges, and a receipt for nachos. The ghost donkey brayed with laughter, the lights began swinging, and the entire bar erupted in applause. The bartender handed us another drink and told us this happened all the time. Ghost Donkey is a fantastic place to hang out, pregame, and enjoy inventive tequila and mezcal cocktails in a lively setting. Just be warned: you may arrive looking for a ghost donkey and leave having helped recover an ancient Mexican god's piñata. That's simply the sort of evening this place encourages.

I found Ila's on Google and liked the variety of menu items. The food appeared to elevate comfort food from multiple cuisines, such as American, Italian, South American, Asian, and Southeast Asian. I reached out to the restaurant and was assisted with a reservation for 14 people. Our table was set and ready to go as soon as we arrived at 8:30pm on a Saturday. Overall customer was excellent. Thank you to the hostess for making my sister, the bride, feel special. She complimented her and hyped her up for the night, which was really sweet. Our server was awesome too. He was friendly and highly attentive. Loved that our food and drinks also came out in a timely manner. I enjoyed everything I ate. I had a few bites of the appetizers including the scallops, fried paneer, and 2 kinds of empanadas (corn and chicken). We also got lumpia and a mixed bread platter for the table. Though I didn't have any of the latter, they were a hit at our table. I got the burger as my entree, and it was such a redemption from a crappy burger I got elsewhere earlier in my trip. The double smashed patties were juicy and flavorful. I devoured the burger and loved the thin cut fries. All-in-all, we had a lovely dinner at Ila's for my sister's bachelorette party.
