A fantastic place to hang out, and the brew their own beer. The ambiance is that of an upscale bistro, the beer and food are excellent. The price can climb quickly depending on menu choices but the quality of the food and drink is worth it. Ive gone in for multiple occasions with multiple crouds/friends and the place was suitable for all of them. The service is usually excellent and the staff will do their best to accomodate ypur needs. The decoration as a hint of history and gives a good overview of some events that happened about a hundred years ago in the city of Cranbrook. I will return to this location for years to come. read more

But we happened to find this absolute gem, open until 10 as of mid-September. The beer was cold and delicious, the server was friendly, and the schnitzel hit the exact spot. My best place to eat in town and has been for quite some time now! Other than Carona and other types of beer available, the Heid-Out also has flights of four beers you can try of the craft beer made on site. Or purchase anything from a glass up to a refillable growler of one of the craft beers. Some of the craft beers can also be purchased in 6-pack cans already cooled and taken home. Wine of various varieties can also be purchased here for your consumption with your meal. The appetizers and entrees are delicious and, in some cases, require a take home box as there's too much to eat in one sitting. Desserts have to be looked at as well as there's some very good items on this menu. Make sure you come with empty stomach, eat slow, enjoy the food, drink, your company, and the ambiance of this great place! read more

Came for a late night bite and it did not disappoint! We went for the heid out burger with onion rings and arugula salad with beets and goat cheese. Burger was tasty, juicy fresh patty with a spin which was some ham on the burger. They use a ciabatta like bread which I wasn't a huge fan of as a prefer a softer brioche. Onion rings were amazing, perfectly crispy without being oily at all. Arugula salad was very fresh and had the perfect amount of figs, beets and goat cheese. I found the mustard dressing slightly too acidic for my taste but not a big deal since I had it on the side. Service was prompt, ambience was nice. Topped everything off with a couple grapefruit radlers and it made it worth the 30 min drive from Kimberley! read more

The food was great, the beer was good, and the service was excellent! My husband has the schnitzel both times since he liked it so much. Fantastic restaurant that really deserves some attention from yelp! We were looking for a place to eat before heading down to Montana, so we stopped by Cranbrook from a quick bite. Heid Out popped up on our yelp search, so we headed over. Yes, this is a brewery and have fantastic microbrews, but you really need to come here for the food, especially the CHAI MILKSHAKE. I have no idea how they do it but it is so decadent, creamy, not overwhelming chai flavored and well balanced that my husband and I had a hard time sharing the milkshake. We've eaten twice here now, both times on our birthdays . There's a fair choice of their brewed beer, including a sample four glasses at a good price. The menu has been refreshed and yet still includes some old favourites from the old restaurant menu. Both nights' meals were delicious and although the place was extremely busy the first night, the meals arrived very quickly and were just the right amount. The dessert menu is certainly worth a view. Each item is full of flavour and is worth saving space for. The staff serving and cleaning (always cleaning) have been very friendly and helpful, especially in explaining the different beers . The servers always check to see if you need something right up to when you leave your seat, which could be some time after drinking your coffee. This is not a pricy place - the dollar signs should show somewhere between the second and third signs. There are two areas to the Heid Out as suggested by the name. One is a restaurant which allows children and the other area is the lounge which allows no children, has four TVs to watch sports, news, or whatever the whim of the holder of the remotes. The Lounge area has the garage-type doors that fully open overhead, one facing Baker Street and the other facing 9th Avenue (that will now probably stay closed from now until early spring due to winter's arrival). It is in the Lounge you can see behind a sheet of glass, two vats used for making their various blends of beer, pipes going every which-way, a work table, and various other gadgets. Heidi has definitely turned her old one into another great restaurant to cater to Cranbrook and the surrounding area. It's a place we'll enjoy returning. read more

Second time eating here. Love the Fisher Peak brewing beers they serve (and brew in the basement). The food is always good. They had a salmon goat cheese pizza for special today that was perfect. The food is great, the beer is delicious, the atmosphere is fun and our server was fantastic! They have the brewery in the actual building, you can ask to get a tour and they will bring you into the basement to see the whole process from start to finish! We came here last year at the end of the year, the food service was a little slow but it was busy in there and our server let us know that the printer machine was broken or something.. anyway, she apologized a lot but it wasn't a big deal, as the food came out hot and sooo good. We had some spicy pickles to start, then for dinner I had the margherita pizza and my friend had the Big foot burger with yam fries- that thing is HUGE! We sampled the beers in a Flight (you choose 4 brews, you can even try their dry cider on tap) which was a cool and interesting way to try them.. our server explained to us the proper way to drink them to get the best experience, which was neat!! Finally for dessert we had a delicious no-bake lemon cheesecake which totally hit the spot. There is cool heritage art on the walls, tvs to distract you if you want to be distracted, a cozy fireplace, clean bathrooms and even a dining room section so kids can come with families. The only negative thing was when we walked in it seemed like no one noticed us so we just sat down even though a sign said to wait to be seated.. but our server was over right away with menus so I guess was probably just an oversight on their part. Overall I was pretty impressed with what they did to revamp the place from the old Heidis restaurant and would certainly go back to try some of the other beers on the list. read more

The HeidOut is a great place with an in-house brewery that has at least 6 excellent beers on tap at all times. I highly recommend the IPA, Scottish Ale and the Porter. The menu seems to be updated and refreshed with some great new items every so often which is great but. Burgers, sandwiches are great and the special usually is a winner! Pickle Sticks for an appy and Quinoa Chocolate cake for desert makes your meal complete. Kids menu available too! Enjoy! read more

We visited the Heid Out because of high ratings online. After a long day of travel, we were ready for a delicious meal. The atmosphere was good but there were tables that hadn't been cleaned yet so we ended up cleaning the one we wanted to sit in as there weren't many staff to be seen and they were too busy to attend to us I guess. We ordered off the appetizer menu, beef stuffed Yorkshire puddings, a seafood bowl in a white sauce with garlic bread, and the spicy prawns with wonton crisps. The Yorkshire puddings with beef were over cooked, dry and tasteless, the seafood bowl was very very bland and came with burnt garlic toast, and the spicy prawn dish flavors were an odd combination. And the server was very inattentive to top it off. Would NOT recommend for the food...or maybe we were unlucky and chose the worst 3 things on the menu . They did have a great selection of beer and drinks though. read more
