I have been looking for a studio that served my spiritual path as much as my physical goals with yoga. The Hearth Center for Awakening has been such a gift to my life. The instructors are attentive and bring a level of heart and awareness for what is needed in the moment that I have struggled to find elsewhere. The exterior is deceiving in the heart of White City with an entrance from the alley, my first visit had me trepidatious upon arrival; however, from that first class to this day when I walk through the doors, I am instantly flooded by a sense of serenity that I struggled to find elsewhere. It is a 30 minute drive from my home, but every class is worth it. So many experiences I have at the Heart Center take me back to the beautiful yoga I experienced in India. I highly recommend this place. Everyone who has walked through the doors with me feels the same! I've gone 3x with all different instructors and surprisingly enough... everyone of them has been great! Very easy to follow and they use some Sanskrit which I enjoy! Hear the words enough and you start to remember each pose/practice. That is something that I look for because I get confused when instructors give too much directions. This is a hidden gem in white center. It really is a gorgeous studio and very spacious. The owner is lovely and very inviting. I'm hoping for more early classes in the future. read more

Heart Center is a fantastic yoga studio- a West Seattle jewel. I love this place. The teachers are fantastic: warm, welcoming, fun, and knowledgeable; the space is beautiful; and for those that want it, there are workshops and community events too. I have been doing yoga for years at different studios- it's rare for me to find a studio where a lot of the teachers' styles work for me; usually I can only find a few. Here, for some reason, there are many teachers that I like, ones that are gentle, ones that are gentle and tough :) , and ones I learn a lot from. Heart Center trains yoga teachers too. That matters to me even though I am not a yoga teacher because they have a focus on the eight limbs of yoga, how yoga can apply to ones' whole of life, not just exercise. It's not intrusive or anything, but for me it feels good to be around people who are optimistic about life and helping others to heal and make their lives better. The owner, Faith, really has a sense of how to make that happen. The entrance to this studio is in a back alley- don't let that put you off. Inside is a world-class studio. The Heart Center - Yoga class - Yoga Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I'm going to start with two "cons" (one for myself and one I could see for other people) just to get it out of the way. 1) I personally wish they had more class options 2) the studio is in the heart of a bustling and sometimes wild neighborhood so you maybe shouldn't necessarily expect a quiet class (though they do a great job of trying) THAT SAID, I have been to many a studio in the West and South ends of Seattle in the past ten years and I haven't ever felt this compelled to profess my love for any of them. Now that I am a yoga teacher myself it's likely even harder to impress me as much as The Heart Center has. The online classes have been well executed and their studio (albeit somewhat tricky to find - in the alley off of 15th and up the right hand set of stairs) is spacious with a wonderful energy. The teachers have been welcoming and accommodating to all the students in the classes I've attended, whether they are new or regulars. I literally just took my first non-Barre dance fitness class (aBUNdance) and at no point did I feel embarrassed or weird?!? There are TONS of options for post-yoga food/drinks, decent parking AND a yoga/mindfulness community worth supporting. read more

Love this place! Wish I didn't move cause otherwise I'd still be coming here. I'm so glad the owner, Faith, opened this place and made it happen in White Center cause it's the only studio in the area. I wish White Center was nicer so that the surroundings of this studio weren't so sketchy, allowing the studio to shine, but it's still a great experience! I got a deal on Groupon for unlimited visits for 1 month. I wish I had more time to have gone cause wow! Such an inviting environment. The instructors are very calm, easy to listen to, good instruction and just a down to Earth vibe. I specifically went to more Yin/Restorative style classes. Faith, Sharon, Jenny, and Donte stand out to me. **Just a pro tip: I recommend to lock your car, keep your valuables on you, and keep an eye out for sketchy people. White Center is just like that, so just be careful especially during an evening class. Especially women! Nothing ever happened to me but the vibe in the non yoga world is not so namaste. read more

This is a lovely healing and spiritual space. I was first introduced to the Heart Center in November of 2020. Owen and Faith are warm, freedom loving people who welcome anyone into this sacred space. It is great to have a sanctuary to practice yoga, dance, receive healing modalities such as massage therapy or reiki, or even just have invigorating conversations with other like minded souls. I recently found Heart Center Yoga through Classpass and am glad I did! Their classes are doing wonders for shaking off my covid quarantine lethargy. The studio is a great addition to White Center, and the sense of community is strong. My personal recommendation - hit the Slow Flow class on a Monday night, and then enjoy your relaxed vibe while you walk around the corner for a great piece of pizza at Proletariat (veggie will feel appropriate but any slice will do). read more

I have known Faith from taking her yoga classes in Greenlake many years ago. Love her class, her style, and her pressence. Been coming to The Heart Center when I moved to West Seattle since 2019. I love this place and the classes offered here! And, I love this place even more because Faith, Owen, and all the practitioners here are standing up for our Freedom without enforcing the tyrannical mandates. The Heart Center is the best! I have attended oodles of yoga classes all over this city and none compare to the true connection of community experienced in this little gem of White Center. I am so happy to have found it, and the best part is that masks are optional so we can practice the MOST FUNDAMENTAL part of yoga... BREATHING!!! I used to love practicing in this space, but I can no longer enjoy this studio as I fundamentally disagree with the owners spreading misinformation and harmful opinions about masking and vaccines on social media. I was in immediate need of a massage due to a strained shoulder (new golf swing!) and I am absolutely thrilled to have found this place. Upon arriving, I was warmly greeted by the owner. The space is welcoming and aesthetically pleasing. And then my massage, given by Annie V, was absolutely fantastic. She addressed my areas of need, applying the perfect amount of pressure and it was awesome. I feel so much better. The ease at which making an appointment was a total plus as well. Yoga isn't exercise, though it can feel that way. If you're looking for the fire not just in the body, but in the mind and in the heart, this place is for you. A great blend of styles offered; everything from Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin, Kundalini, et al on into more progressive fusion styles - they're all offered here. A golden thread across all sessions offered would be the intention of the practices channeled through all the wonderful instructors who've enlisted at this studio. Everyone subscribes to the ethos and values of the studio, and bring years of experience of focused practice to each session - body, heart and mind in an authentic and pragmatic way. Not too in the ether, not too formulaic and flat-footed: every session offers opportunity for practitioners, both beginning and seasoned, to find their edge and open a little further. Go a little deeper. Connect a little more. Very accessible and as challenging as you want it to be. Also, I think a core value of community is really apparent both in how everyone shows up here and the programming and workshops offered. Lots of enriching opportunities to connect, enliven and go deeper in the context of community with a great group of like-minded souls: seekers abound. Nice location in a vibrant area of Seattle. I am so grateful to have access to a yoga studio that doesn't require masks! I feel so much safer going to a studio that respects my right to decide how to protect myself. Going to yoga has helped me enhance my immune system, gain greater mobility, decrease stress levels and given me access to much greater levels of self awareness and inner strength and peace-all of which increase my ability to fight off harmful viruses. Thank you for being a place where people can manage their own comfort level around risk. There are plenty of yoga studios that require masks and some that also require vaccination. There is some science that shows the unvaxxed are spreading the variants, there's also science showing evidence for the opposite occurring. In the face of such varying information I am more grateful than I can say that this yoga studio is preserving my right to choose all the ways I take care of my body while we all figure out what's true.
