This place is such a breath of fresh air in downtown Elgin! Finally a place to get a healthy shake or smoothie! The staff was super friendly and even give out coupons for your first free drink! The Healthy Spot also has fitness classes a few times a week that I can't wait to check out. Loved my experience here! Will definitely be returning.

I've been hearing about Meyer's for many years now but haven't had the chance to go. Today was the…read moreday! Went to grab takeout with the family to eat at home nearby. I got the 2 meat combo plate with chicken and garlic pork sausage. I also got the creamed corn and potato salad on the side. Everything was good. The sausage and corn were great. In hindsight I wish I had ordered chicken breast - it's a just me thing, but brown chicken meat is tasting and smelling a lot like turkey to me lately which isn't great because of a bad turkey experience. (Again just me!!) I also would have ordered double creamed corn! It was delish! I also feel like I need raw onions and pickles forever with BBQ now. New obsession. All in all, great experience, and also - great price!

Disappointing BBQ Experience…read more We stopped at Meyer's BBQ after a fun morning of picking blackberries down the road and were really looking forward to lunch. Unfortunately, this was our first visit, and will also be our last. My mom ordered the chicken, my sister had the chili, and I went all in with the brisket, ribs, creamed corn, coleslaw, and buttermilk pie. The brisket was, without question, the driest brisket I've ever had. It was so dry that I had to take a drink after nearly every bite just to get it down. The ribs weren't much better, equally dry and lacking seasoning. The creamed corn had a strange texture and flavor that neither of us enjoyed, and the coleslaw was just average. In the end, all of my meal, plus half of my mom's chicken, went home for the dogs. The one bright spot was the buttermilk pie. It was surprisingly good and had just the right amount of sweetness. To be fair, the staff was very friendly, and the restaurant and bathrooms were clean. They deserve five stars for hospitality and cleanliness. Unfortunately, the food itself was closer to one star, and when you're visiting a BBQ restaurant, the food matters most. What made this even more disappointing was that we passed by the day before and saw what looked like the entire Elgin police department parked there. We figured it must be fantastic. Sadly, that wasn't our experience. I wouldn't eat here again, and I wouldn't recommend it based on the food we received. Such a disappointment.

It's a cool-looking place, and we had World Cup soccer on TV. The place is clean and well maintained. We ordered the calzone and the 9-inch buffalo chicken pizza. Also, we ordered their hazy IPA. The pizza was well above average, and we had a great time. We look forward to visiting their new location next time!

This beautiful little hidden gym is tucked away behind a shell gas station. BLUF: Great pizza, great atmosphere, good beer selection. Dog and VET friendly. The plethora of selections was daunting. I bellied up to the counter and was so NOT prepared given that people were behind me and salivating waiting to take me out with a pizza pan had I not ordered any faster. I hastily ordered 1/2 and 1/2 ... I asked for their "meat lovers" and shared the pan with a proteinless (I'll get kicked out of Elgin if said to loud) Goat Cheese, garlic, and Sirachi Roasted Brussel sprouts on marinara. I also ordered their Buffalo Wings. My unruly Dog was acting a fool unexpectedly and uncharacteristically... I think he senses the urgency, but they had a jar of pet treats right at the counter! I promptly ordered a Hazy IPA and made my way to my table drooling at each pizza I passed on the way. Pizza was out fast! The meat lovers consisted of pepperoni, Sausage, Canadian Bacon, and bacon. ...I should have made a video because the bacon CRUNCHED when I bit into the slice! It was delicious. Dough report ..so/so. It didn't have the bite of a hand tossed pizza. It was more like a thin version of Via 313, but not that good. It was basically bread and not glutenized hand worked pizza dough. None-the-less, it was good. If only there was some protein that matched up with the goat cheese and Brussel sprouts! That would have put it over the top. That veggie half of the pizza was so good! Generous toppings and so much flavor. Service was super friendly, and attentive, willing to let you sample any beer on tap you want. The wings were deceiving. They looked like they would be soggy, but they were crisp. If you like your wings drowning in sauce, you better ask for it. They looked naked but there was enough sauce to qualify them as buffalo. I loved that they were not over cooked and were big juicy mouth watering pieces of wings that you might have thought came from a turkey based on their size. I'll be back and will have more pics coming soon! Definitely a good option in Elgin if you are searching for something other than BBQ (sacrilege).

Meat--The meat was on the dry side, but not too dry. The meat had a LOT of fat on it to be so dry. Still very good though, great flavor and great crust. Very tasty. Sauce-very good. Balanced sweet and tangy, not on the sweet side, really likes it. Sides-I got green beans, they were not from a can, field fresh, definitely not overcooked, might could use a little more cooking. Nicely seasoned but could use a little salt. I also got Mac n cheese and it was good, I've had better but it was a nice flavor and I got a piece of toasty crust which I like and it was good. Dessert- I got peach Cobbler. I didn't like the crust. It's a cake-like crust and I prefer the pie like crust. The peaches were fresh and not from a can, not overly sweet, good flavor, but again, no cake for me. They don't have Coke Zero only Diet Coke. I did go inside to use the restroom. I like a bbq place to smell like a bbq place. This one had a stale restaurant stay.
