Martin at The Head Shop was amazing. He hooked me up with a clean fade & sharp beard trim, and the whole experience was flawless start to finish. The shop itself is kind of hidden and hard to find at first since there's basically no signage, but that almost makes it better. It gives the place this cool you-know-somebody vibe that feels very NYC. Martin is clearly skilled at what he does, and it showed throughout the entire appointment. On top of the cut and beard trim, he gave me a lot of helpful beard care advice and even helped me troubleshoot a new beard trimmer I had just bought. Definitely coming back to Martin! read more

Amazing place to get a haircut. I have gotten cuts from Martin for years and years and never have I been disappointed. The vibe of the shop is cool, casual, and friendly. The barbers there get along and have a good time during the work day which I appreciate. The shop is always clean and has good music. Recently visited and it felt like they were taking health and safety precautions seriously with universal masking, plenty of hand sanitizer, and by appointment only. Can only speak well of this place, most consistently good haircuts I have ever had. read more

I have followed Joel to different shops and this one is by far the best one yet! He is stepping up his game and this shop shows some class but retains it's edgy feeling. It's kind of fun as the store itself has no sign out front, so you know the barbers are worth their salt as they are not really a drive in type of place. Folks need to have heard word of mouth before they know the place is here! The only "negative" thing I had was the music. While I can appreciate some ambiance, it was way loud, just not my thing. If you are in the area, check it out. Get to know the barbers and get your hairs cut! read more

This is a review based solely on customer service and atmosphere and not quality of the hair cut, mostly because I never even made it that far. This place is a "bois" club, if your looking for a professional place and a nice atmosphere just do not even bother. I had seen that some people had to wait a while with out an appointment so I called the day before and scheduled on for 11am. I didn't have much going on so I ended up going in around 30 min early and thought "eh maybe I'll get in early or something." NOPE. When I walked in, I made eye contact with they guy cutting hair closest to the front desk, he asked me if I was here for a hair cut and I said yes, I have an appointment at 11 and he said okay and went back to doing his thing. I was like okay w/e, so I went and sat down at one of the chairs. There was no one else waiting to be helped when I sat down so I thought I might be able to get in sooner than I thought but right as one of the guys finished up, one of his buddies walked in and they greeted each other and small talked and then he sat him down and proceeded to cut his hair right as he walked in. My immediate thought was okay... that was kind of rude but what ever, maybe the next person will help me. NOPE. Person after person walked in and of course they all know each other by name and they get all happy to see each other and they start cranking music and hollering and goofing around and just keep helping each person that just walks in while I sit there. 11 am rolls around and its becoming clear that I'm not going to be helped anytime soon so I leave. Most unprofessional staff I've ever seen who clearly don't care for aquiring new customers and are more interested with shooting the shit with their bois and cranking rap music at the sound systems limits. Don't waste your time, go somewhere else. read more

I am happy to report that Martin is still the same good dude and his cuts are still as consistent as ever 8 years after opening his shop. If you're fortunate to get an appointment, congrats you've found your new barber. I'll probably be seeing Martin until he retires so I'll post future updates in 5 year intervals going forward. read more

Best cuts around town and then some. They always have the best vibes and every time I go in for a fresh fade, it feels more like going to hang out with friends than getting my haircut. The staff know what they're doing and I've never been let down! If you haven't been yet, don't sleep on this barbershop. Best cuts of my life! read more

Finally! A decent cut I can live with. After three-count them, THREE- bad cuts in a row, I had pretty much consigned myself to the permanent-crappy-hair-day bin, doomed to a hairstyle that makes me look like I did when I was 12, only with the fat wrinkled melon head of a middle aged...whatever. You get the idea. The Head Shop, and in particular Leon, finally got it right. I wanted a traditional look, nothing funky, clean-cut and business-sharp but easy to deal with every day, not too much product or fuss. And that's exactly what I got. Short on the sides fading to long up top, with no weird ridge or "mushroom" effect. Leon is a natural, smooth and efficient, and knows how to get it right the first time. Super happy with these guys. A solid haircut option in the south city- go figure. Sure, it might be in an odd place, (little strip mall next to a Costco and a utility company) but it's worth going out of your way for. They couldn't do anything about my melon head, but they sure did right by the mop on top of it! Note: MAKE A RESERVATION. It's easy to do, and it let's these guys take their time and get it right. And you DO want it done right, right?! Recommended! read more

Martin, the owner, has created a perfect spot to get a cut. I've been seeing him for years, at other locations, but he's finally at home in his own place. I don't know why I waited so long to get a review up. It's clean, bright, full of music, and welcoming. There's no lack of talent beyond Martin either. You're going to get a top quality cut whoever you see. This is literally the only place I've left and people comment on the haircut. (Even over video meetings and calls, no joke) Don't trust anyplace else, it's absolutely worth it. read more

This is the new best shop in Seattle. When I came back to The Town to visit I tracked down my go to barber Roderick who I've been getting cut by since Valentines. I was pleasantly surprised to hear he is now paired up with the legend himself who is also, quite simply, an awesome human being - Martin. Two down to earth, experienced and inventive barbers in a sick shop with dope music and a welcoming atmosphere. If you want to get a clean, on point cut, there no better spot than this. read more

The Head Shop - The Head Shop stylist nailed it. Thank you! - Barbers Near Me - Seattle, Washington

I'm pretty new to the atmosphere at The Head Shop because the barber that my family follows recently moved here! So far, everything is fresh. When I say fresh, I mean hip and exciting! The industrial/modernism of the shop makes the customer feel trendy and good about themselves. It compliments the whole experience of getting your hair therapy on! Tim Phan is the barber that recently moved over and I think he is a great asset to the team/location. He's very loyal and dependable. If he were to ever miss your appointment it was for a good reason and he's the type of person that would make it up to you! He's a younger barber that has the ability to recreate whichever style you please. He's very nice to all of his clients and uses top quality tools for every hair experience you have. Give Tim a chance because you wont regret it! You can book an appointment through Tim specifically through his genbook account! Here is a link to his reservation page: Steezytim.genbook.com There he has a ton of different services in which he can do very well! He even has a special service that offers a nice hot towel/facial that soothes your skin and makes you feel refreshed! All I have to say is great things about this shop! read more

I lived in Seattle my whole life but moved to the bay area a few years ago. I know how challenging it could be finding a new barber in a new city. I recently got a chance to visit this shop as Martin had been my go to barber for 10 or so odd years. You can tell a lot about a barber shop by taking a look at the clientele and the hairstyles that are crafted. The great thing about this place is they can cut/style any type of hair. That is hard to come by when finding a shop that suits your needs whether you have straight or coarse hair or in my case patchy, spotty yet straight hair. Above all, I can tell you that the barbers here take pride in their craft and make everyone feel welcome. read more

Been coming here for over a year now and it's always been great. Water dispenser available for those who are thirsty, comfy leather chairs, nice decor and good music. Anyone in there will take care of you and your hair! Nice selection of hair products as well. Best barbershop in and around SoDo. I tried a few in downtown, cap hill and West Seattle and this is where I settled. Only thing that can suck is parking but I just park on the road now. read more

I find barber shops in cities my family and I stop in during our full time travels living the #RVLIFE. This one is top notch. I highly recommend them if you can get in for an appointment that is. Best crew in the biz. My son who is 4 gets his hair cut by Leon. 1st all the guys there are nice and I see there clients love the fact that they are on time (for a barbershop that's rare) 2nd the prices are very fair and they do a great job. Leon takes the same time and effort with my son as he would a grown adult paying full price. 3rd love the atmosphere and vibe! Plan ahead of time because they won't overbook, and when you get that sharp cut that is on time, tip them properly! Thanks! read more

Been going here for years because they do the best job. Location is great because when it's time for a cut it's also time drop by Costco for petrol or food and "stuff". I moved a little too far so I can't go here as often - take my spots on the calendar. read more

Lets just say this place is off the chain! My brother has been going to Martin for awhile now and I was thinking I wanted to change things up so I wanted to try him out too! I go in for a haircut from him. I told him exactly what I wanted and he did it simply and made it look better that I was imagining! He is that pro at giving haircuts! Its literally a clean cut without flaw! I was originally going somewhere else to get my hair cuts because it was extremely cheap and decent. When I went here for the first time and I just realized I might as well look good every week, than every other week! So now I just love coming here only! This is now in a brand new building, very clean, wide space. Once in awhile I would try to throw in a little dance moves time to time because I am that pumped up to get a haircut. The people cutting hair there are super nice and chill and they know how to give you a nice cut. Check this place out! read more

O M G this is the place to be! I have been going everywhere for the purrrfect haircut and I finally found it! Its like magic over here, you tell them exactly what you want and it happens! I usually went to very generic hair places and every time I tell them what I want, it just doesn't turn out right and I pretty much look just like the hair place.... generic. BUT at this place I feel like a super star! You know me always trying to holler at the ladies... Every time I step up in here I am totally hyped up! Makes me want to do my famous "front-flip-back-flip!" Every time I see a hair out of place, I go straight back here because I need to look FRESH to DEATH when I'm partying on capital hill. The barbers there are legends and they play some jammin' music. If i wanted to twerk somewhere it would be there, but of course mainly for the haircut. They also shampoo me very good, better than I usually do it to myself in fact. If you want to make the cut, get the cut over here! read more

Martin has cut my hair for several years. He is meticulous and always takes time to be sure my cut is perfect. I only see Martin, but I've watched the other barbers turn out great haircuts as well. The Head Shop is cool and Jamie is seriously good at cutting hair. It's been 2 years since my first haircut with Jamie and I've got nothing but praise. The slick and stylish haircuts she dishes out are reflective of her artistry and care for her craft. She listens well, has ample hair-stuffs knowledge, and is cool to converse with. I always appreciate her attention to detail and her strikingly good ability to give a fade. Although Jamie is my fave, the other hair artists here are friendly and are good peoples as well. It's just a damn good place to get a cut. \m/ read more

Recently moved to Seattle from Denver, where I would get my beard trimmed up and shaped every 2-3 weeks. I was looking for a good shop that would know how to take care of my beard without charging me an arm and a leg. They have good barbers here but if you are new there then it's fuck you we are sending you to our worst barber who has nobody else and you are getting a bad haircut that you have to deal with for a month and you gotta pay $50 for it? I was really hoping to like this place but sadly this was the worst haircut I've ever gotten. I wish it had been better, I really respect what these guys are doing, but for $55, I'd expect to have gotten a decent haircut. Very uneven, and he mused a bunch of spots. I also asked for something very different but at the end the next client was there so we were so rushed, I didn't have time to change it. Overall not a great experience. read more

I was in search of a new barber and did not know what to expect but Tim took really good care of me. He kept the convo to a reasonable amount and did a really good job on my head. I had scheduled the gentleman's executive which includes a straight shave so that was nice. Prices were more than fair especially since he got me in and out in half the time of my previous barber. The location seems very clean. I love that I can schedule future appointment online and that Tim communicates through text. read more

Yesterday was the first time I've ever been to a barber and let me start by saying my experience at The Head Shop was honestly amazing. Amazing probably isn't even enough of a word to describe how it was. I usually go to a Vietnamese Salon since they're quick and easy. A friend recommended The Head Shop so I figured I'd give it a chance. I called in advance around 5pm to schedule an appointment but they were busy and scheduled me for 7pm later that night. I was supposed because they usually close around then but were willing to stay the extra hours for their clients. Even as a first time customers, that just wins you over. I arrived about 15 minutes early and waited a bit. The wait wasn't too long, and even then the workers still conversed to let me know they'd take care of me once they could. The atmosphere of the shop was very relaxing and comfortable. It litterally felt like a place you could relax and be yourself. It reminded me being at a friend's since the staff was so hospitable. Joel took care of me that night and he went above and beyond! Having never gone to a barber before, I really didn't know what to ask for. That wasn't an issue at all because Joel made it easy. I simply wanted a comb-over, nothing too fancy. The session was longer than a normal haircut I've gotten in the past but it was honestly great. I feel the barbers here genuinely care about what they do and you can easily tell as you're in that chair. They converse and make real conversations with you about this and that. It was nice because time just flies when you're having a one on one with someone. From arriving to the hair cut to the finished product, my overall experience was great! I can definitely see myself coming back again here. I would highly recommend The Head Shop to anyone who wants a haircut from someone who will give you both a quality cut as well as a memorable time. read more

Ricky has teamed up with Martin to offer the best haircuts Seattle has to offer! Ricky always asks for as much input from me as possible to provide a fantastic cut. Worse haircut I've had in my life!! Troy was defensive, I asked if he could part my hair at a certain level and he handed me the comb with a "you tell me how to do my job" type of attitude. So I did! Don't give me that attitude! I flippin parted that sh*t myself! He took about 1.5 hours to finish. I didn't see the mirror at all while he was cutting my hair. I thought it was going to be great, since he took so long, but when he finally handed me the handheld mirror to check the back, I was flabbergasted. I asked him if he could bring it up a little bit on the sides, and again, defensive. He said it wouldn't work with my hair. I'm 34 flipping years old! Don't you think I've had enough haircuts in my life to know how far up my blend can go??
