I had Steve look at a 125+ year family clock from Austria that had fallen off the wall a few years back. It took some time to get it right. But these guys know their stuff and nailed it. The Haute Horologist website is not accurate. They don't repair watches. His son used to repair watches but had moved out of state. I was told he has a guy that works for him in Caldwell. I dropped off a Ball watch, which needed a simple cosmetic adjustment to the hour hand. It is a dive watch, and I wanted to have it fixed before an upcoming trip. I was told in two weeks, he would let me know how much the repair would be, but it would be a quick fix. I had time so I left the watch. Nearly four weeks later, I left a follow-up message and received no return call. I called two days later and talked to Steve; he apologized and said he would get back to me. After two days, I did not receive a response, so I picked up the watch and started over. A bit frustrating. They do repair clocks, but don't take your watch there. They don't provide that service, but they don't seem to mind wasting your "time." read more

I have used these guys several times and have always been satisfied. They know watches. They have repaired watches and found batteries for old and obscure watches. It's also a bit of a kick to find them in the bottom floor of a beautiful old building near downtown Boise. read more

The short: I dropped off my watch in January 2021, I picked it up on October 8th2021 (10 months later) and nothing had been done to my watch. For a place that specializes in time pieces, they have yet to grasp the concept of time or even a remote sense of urgency. While there are few places to have fine time-pieces serviced in the treasure valley, based on my experience, I would suggest anyone requiring service to skip haute horologist and seek accommodations elsewhere. The long: I went to Haute Horologist based on the reviews I found online. I have a Panerai wrist watch that needed a general service so I took it in and met with the clock guy (not the watch guy), who was very nice, and explained the issues with the watch. He informed me that the watch repairman was not in but he has experience with Breitling, Tag Heuer, Patek Phillipe, and my watch would be in good hands. He took my watch, gave me a ticket, and I was on my way. Below is a timeline of the events that proceeded my initial meeting: 1/12/21 - Dropped off watch with watch maker February '21 - I called in and was told that they were extremely busy and that they wouldn't be able to get to my watch until July. I asked if I could pick it up while they work through the back-log and then come back to drop it off in July. My request was granted and I picked up my watch. 6/29/21 - I called back to ensure they had worked through the back-log, they asked that I drop it off at the end of July 8/3/21 - I went back to the shop and dropped off watch again with the clock guy who said that the watch guy would call me. 8/13/21 - I called in and left a voicemail that went unreturned 9/7/21 - I called in again and spoke with the clock guy, he said said watch guy has some things going on and he would be in this afternoon . I Left him my order number and call back number. The clock guy said the watch guy would call me when he got back. 10/8/21 - I had not received any follow up, phone calls, any correspondence from haute horologist. I went back to their shop to see where my watch was in the service process. After sorting through several time-pieces, he found mine and it had not been touched. I took my watch back and departed. I understand that they have a large backlog and covid has not done any favors for anyone, but a small amount of communication would go a long way! I can't in good conscience recommend this place to anyone save people who have over 10 months to wait for their watch to be serviced. I am extremely frustrated with the lack of communication and service. As far as quality of work, I cannot speak to this facet of their business as I never was able to bear witness to their capabilities. Save yourself the frustration and send your timepieces elsewhere. read more

I hadn't worn a watch in years and found myself needing one today. I pulled out two identical non-functional watches from my jewelry box - I had previously bought a new one since I didn't know where to get my old one repaired. I walked right in to the shop and Benny evaluated both then fixed the better watch for me while I waited. Great atmosphere, great customer service, and my watch works! Excellent craftsmen. They also repair fine watches and clocks - I have an old clock that needs to be serviced and now I now where to go! read more
