Love this store and their hard philosophies in single use plastic , cat kibble and ethically/ sustainably sourced food and treats!

***WARNING*** IF YOU HAVE RABBITS AS PETS DON'T GO INTO THIS STORE!!! After shopping at this store for a while I will never go back. Sunday 4/30/23, I stopped in to buy food for my cats and dogs. As I walked back to grab dog food I noticed an end cap that was filled with rabbit body parts. Whole Rabbit heads without the skin and fur. Rabbit feet with fur, in multiple colors. I understand people like to feed their dogs and cats canned or freeze dried rabbit for food. I get that, but when a store displays whole body parts of the 3rd most popular pet in the United States it's disgusting. I told the woman at the counter, you guys should not sell stuff like this. She said "well, the dogs do like them". Really? I wanted to say, then why don't you find cat heads and paws to sell as well. Or maybe add some dog bones in as well. I know dogs love any bones that have been cooked. Dogs don't fucking care what kind of animal bones they're eating. Have some fucking compassion for people that have pets in addition to dogs and cats! Now that I have read some of their reviews and see how they have treated people with disabilities or customer services issues in general I am not surprised at this at all. read more

The Happy Beast is the best natural pet food and treat supplier in Boulder county! They recently started to make their own treats from humanely raised animals. It's great to see a business putting everything that would generally go to waste to use! Their raw food selection is amazing as well. Highly recommend everyone stop by and check them out. read more

love this place! most of the employees are super nice, and i've only had one negative experience w someone. regardless, every time i get help from natalie it has been super great. my puppy's poo wasn't a good consistency and i'm new to owning a dog, and she answered all of my questions regarding the different kinds of food. natalie even wrote down the breakdown of calories and pounds of raw meat that equate to each other. i didn't feel patronized and natalie was incredibly understanding and talked me through everything. ever since buying food from there and hearing natalie's advice, my pup's poos have become much better. she's happier and healthier! i recommend signing your phone number up, im not sure how, but it feels like every month i go in, i have money that can be taken off which is nice. read more

I shopped here for years even though the prices are higher than average to support local businesses but the last time was the last time when the owner rudely told me: "hurry up, get what you need and leave." Really?? Found a new shop in Erie just down the street with fair prices and VERY friendly staff. read more

A wonderful store. Have been going here for years. Love their selections of dog and cat food and staff! They were stellar during C-19 and never hesitate to ask if I need help out. I'm baffled by the person who was offended at seeing rabbit parts because they themselves had rabbits as pets. I understand that it upsets you, but was that really enough to give the store a bad review? We live in a strange time where people are easily offended and narcissistic in their world view. read more

This store carries all natural food and treats for your furry friends. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help! I will be back every time I need cat food because of their selection :) They do not have dry cat food but it's for the cats health. They do a great job of educating customers on why dry food is bad and why you should consider a wet food diet. read more

There aren't words for how great this pet food store is. I can credit the expertise of the owner with saving my cat's life. Turns out cat's never cook their food and feeding them cooked food doesn't agree with them either. My cat suffers from Inflammatory Bowel disease and he went from a cat losing weight and vomiting all the time, not eating very much. He is now on his way to wellness has a great appetite and is so much happier. He was has always been a loving cat but he is now even more so. He eats raw rabbit! I not only get my food here, I got the advice and encouragement I needed to switch him to a diet meant for cats. You won't get crappy food here and if you really want what is best for your animal..... you will find it here! read more

I have been here several times. They are not your typical pet store. The women who work here are truly amazing. They aren't just working, they are passionate about pet food and providing solutions. When I walk in they know who I am, they remember what I tell them. I have 5 animals, one with a very sensitive stomach. They understand, they provide possible solutions. They explain why the product works and how it will help her stomach. Thank you for your passion, you've given me hope about my dog's condition. I will always come to your store for my pet's needs. It pains me to say this because I have had a long standing relationship with The Happy Beast and sad to say that relationship is over due to experiencing rude and dismissive customer "service". As a disabled mother, I require more help than others, and there have been countless times where I've needed car side pickup due to being unable to get into the store. Was very grateful for those times. Today was different. When I went in there I felt they acted annoyed I was there and appeared bothered to want to help me. I saw many staff members before the store manager finally said hi to me. Having gone there for a while, and gone through numerous staff, I never once saw them respond this way to any other customer and felt I received absolutely ridiculous ableist treatment from the staff. Grateful for a kind person who helped me outside the store during a moment of need. As a customer of years for all our animals, we unfortunately will not be returning. read more

The Happy Beast is one of my favorite stores in Lafayette. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about their products and really care about each individual customer. I am pretty sure they know every one of their customers by name! I enjoy going to the store every week to buy my cat food, toys, treats, and supplies. They have such a big selection and if they don't have what you're looking for they always offer to order it for you. Natalie, Chelsea, and Sarah have all been so friendly and helpful to me every time I'm in. I recommend this store to anybody I know with pets! We usually go to struttin' pup, but today, we decided to do something new, and that was a good choice. This place is really nice, especially the bathing area. Very professional. The only slight issue is how to find it. The sign up says Natural Pet Food, not the happy beast, which slightly confused me. I will definitely come back, my dogs with me. read more

This is an excellent small-town pet supply company. They were very helpful and knowledgeable helping me pick out products for my overly small puppy. They had everything I needed, and even the right size (hard to find) in a harness. The employees seemed to know which treats were the most popular, and which were the least caloric, for a little pup. This place is great for those have a pup that loves to chew. They have a nice selection of natural bones that are delicious (well a lil' furry girl told me so). They are always very welcoming and friendly. The pup truly loves coming into visit and whenever we can we stop by to get a new bone or bag of yummy treats. Lovely first experience. But when I brought back 2 expensive dog toys (one touting it's toughness) b/c my 4-lb Bichon had ripped them in less than 10 minutes, the owner refused to take them back, saying she couldn't resell them. I have numerous toys bought at PetSmart that are in perfect condition after over a month of daily chewing. She should have returned the toys to her supplier and then chosen different brands. Instead she lost a good customer. read more
