I ordered a very simple cake for my promotion ceremony. Vanilla cake almond icing. The flavor was 100% off and I paid over $200. First I felt very rushed when I was ordering and speaking to the actual baker. When I went to pick up the cake, the words were not on the cake so I had to comeback. They added fondant with what looks like sharpe marker. When I tasted the cake at the ceremony, it tasted awful. It was some kind of cinnamon clove flavor. The cake was incredibly dense like a pound cake. This cake was 100% wrong, very expensive and tasted nothing like I ordered. read more

I did a quick google search while in O'fallon on business. This bakery popped up. The location is a bit confusing as I whizzed by it with my GPS. There is no parking lot for customers so the parking lot you see... don't park there. Just hit the street parking. The bakery looks like a house on the corner. It is very colorfully decorated. The railing needs a bit of tightening as I about face planted on the stairs. You walk in and you are in the "dining room" which is quaint. Head up to the bakery counter and look in the case. Yummy goodness awaits. I wanted to try one of everything. The small cupcakes are just ok. Skip it and go for the oatmeal cream pie or the best banana nut muffin you will ever had. So dang cute!!! We loved the cupcakes I picked up, but I have to warn you that the flies were awful. There was a sign on the door asking people to close the door behind them to avoid flies, but honestly that isn't enough. I know they're probably working on it but flies were in the air as well as in the case with the food. They even had a carnivorous plant in the case with the cupcakes to help with them. We adore The Happy Bakery! Their food is always freshly prepared from scratch. Every time we order, everything is made to order, the fries are crispy, and the veggies are fresh. Tonight, we chose The Happy Bakery for our Lenten Friday dinner. The caliFresh sandwich was superb. I'll admit, even as a self-proclaimed foodie, I sometimes get stuck in the mode of not venturing outside of certain favorites. When it comes to vegan desserts in STL, I stuck with one place, for the most part. As my job often does, it had me in unfamiliar territory, which to my surprise, housed this amazing vegan bakery. I grabbed a variety after the nice young lady advised me of the buy 5 get one free deal. BUTTERSCOTCH cupcake: OMG This may be my new favorite thing! Whomever created this vegan version, excelled! Sweet, rich, buttery, butterscotch atop a light and fluffy cupcake. I need to know if they come in full cake sizes. Divine!! LEMON cupcake: I was not expecting this to make it to the top of the list. The mixture of the air-light cupcake and whatever heavenly magic went into the icing made this an instant favorite. Excellent! VANILLA CONFETTI ORANGE DREAMSICLE Both of the aforementioned cupcakes were yummy. The Orange Dreamsicle tastes like summer, and the Vanilla Confetti is birthday ready. Yum! The Double Fudge was good. It was just like a chocolate cupcake with chocolate icing. I didn't taste that rich, thick fudge that I'm used to with fudge cupcakes. But again, it was good. I tried some cookie sandwiches and the caramel cookie with caramel icing in the middle was my favorite. Scrumptious! Lastly, the cupcake parfaits. I got a double fudge and a snickerdoodle. Both were good. I am so happy to find more amazing vegan desserts in the STL area (it's just a short drive from STL, and it's so worth it!). We asked to have everything split in half so that our party of 3 could sample. ~The BLT (secret ingredients) made the bacon crispy, salted to perfection and delicious! "WINNER". ~The Philly Cheesesteak (seitan) was phenomenal! I'd never had a Philly Cheesesteak and I can tell you, You won't miss the meat because this delicious sandwich is packed with flavor and it looks good. ~The Grilled cheese sandwich was a bit on the dry side. I'm sure we could have added something to it but for the sake of having so much food, it was ok. It was cooked just right ( yes, VEGAN). ~The Falafel. I'm a falafel and hummus fan. Such a quaint and beautiful like cafe. The entire place is cozy and welcoming. I love the French feel to the ambiance. The workers were so friendly and polite. Now on to the important part THE FOOD! It was incredible. I mean there isn't any vegan places in the area, so being delicious and close is a must for me. I got the Buffalo chick'n ranch and it was mouth watering! The entire thing was cooked so well and better than any vegan meal I've made for myself lol. Compliments to the chef. The homemade chips were so moist and fresh I smiled the entire time I ate them. I'm a decent cook and picky about quality so it takes a lot to impress me. The Happy Bakery impresses me! The food is always on point, and I feel good after eating it which is a win-win. Whether you go for the core menu or the specials, weekday menu or brunch, everything is delicious. My favorite is the bacon, lettuce, avocado and tomato sandwich with a side of mac n cheese. The cake boxes always satisfy my sweet tooth. So good! The space is small so I often get my goods to go, but I enjoy the ambiance while I wait. The building is in a part of town that was residential but now has commercial and residential-THIS IS NOT A HOUSE! Back to the review-The staff was really sweet, took the time to explain items & told me what the best sellers were. At their suggestion I went with the oatmeal cream pies. I also got a lemon cake. These cakes are the un-used parts from sculpted cakes. I LOVE that they don't just throw the excess away! YAY for sustainability! The flavor, texture, sweetness was on point! I would have never known it was vegan. The oatmeal cream pies were equally outstanding. I let my son and husband try them. They couldn't tell any difference and gobbled those things up! The Happy Bakery is by and far my go-to for a quick lunch when I am craving a hearty, healthy nosh. I absolutely love the falafel wrap. It is so tangy and fresh and hits all of the flavor notes that my tummy, heart and soul need! Also, when you go in, the staff never fail to greet you so pleasantly and every person that walks in, if they aren't a regular, it sure seems like they are, because the staff greets everyone so warmly and comfortably, it is like walking into a big giant hug. Came here with a large group on a recommendation while in town. We place our order in advance and love the service. We were able to enjoy the nice weather and sat outside to enjoy our meal. It's 10:00 at night, and I'm writing this review because I'm craving one of their pecan cupcakes! I had a craving for late night munchies, and I tried to be healthy by eating some beets. I was pleasantly surprised to see a BLM sign in their window [take ALLLLLL my money!], and the place is decorated SO nicely! The ladies were super nice. I saw on the front porch in the cushioned bench table while I waited for my burger and fries to be prepared. It was JUST the kind of break I needed. The breeze was blowing nicely, and the porch has a nice view of the road. I couldn't have been happier, to the extent that I didn't even notice how much the food cost. I have no idea. All I know is that my snickerdoodle and pecan cupcakes were BOMB and the burger was nice as well. It was thoughtfully made, right down to the choice of the bun and the beautifully ripened tomatoes. It was that good and the experience was that pleasant that I just didn't notice the cost. Nor did I remember to take a picture of the food. And you guys know the food was HITTIN if you forgot to take a picture of it. TLDR: Snickerdoodle and Pecan cupcakes were excellent. Burger and fries were nice as well.
