We love trying local donut shops, so while we were in O'Fallon one morning, we decided to stop by Wood Bakery. Right when you walk in, it smells amazing, and they had a great variety of donuts and other locally baked items to choose from. You could tell everything was fresh--we even saw them bringing fresh donuts out into the store. We tried the glazed, chocolate long john, glaze twist, and blueberry cake donut. The chocolate on the long john was especially good and definitely stood out. The donuts were a little smaller in size, and for us, the texture wasn't quite as light and airy as we usually prefer, but they were still fresh and enjoyable. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and you could tell they really enjoyed what they do and believed in their products. Being from LA we normally eat Randy's or Krispy Kreme. Randy's isn't everywhere & as far as Krispy Kreme #stopgenocide . I came across Wood Bakery due to not only the stars but the reviews. When we pulled up, the energy was great! From being greeted with positive vibes, to talking about beaches lol! These were our choices & I spent about $5.50. Oh my God, absolutely insane the best bakery ever. I have been to multiple small cities tried out many different bakeries and this place is outstanding. Not only are they amazing in what they do. Their service is outstanding as well. I call in pre-order the peanut squares by the dozen as I get request to bring them back when I'm traveling. Monday morning 6 AM they have 24 to 36 of them fresh and ready for me every single time if you can get a peanut loaf on Saturdays only I highly recommend it outstanding as well. Their cut-out & iced sugar cookies are a legend! The bunnies are a high demand item in my house! Cream horns are amazing but only on two days a week, ask them which 2 days! Wood Bakery never disappoints! Their staff is always incredibly friendly, and they have been very Covid conscious from the beginning of the pandemic. We appreciate their smiling faces very much. We love their donuts, especially they're filled long johns in their seasonal pumpkin spice with cream cheese frosting. This is a great hometown bakery with excellent donuts. Every time we go, we have to get a couple "Boomerangs." Those are basically a curved chocolate long john with no cream filling. I assume the curve is so they can easily tell which ones aren't filled with cream. My favorite are their custard-filled donuts. They have a classic taste with an airy pastry and just the right amount of cream to chocolate ratio. For me, their glazed donuts are so so. They could use a bit more glaze. I usually dip them in coffee. If anything, I feel their donut selection suffers from a lack of creativity. The core donuts are popular, but I've rarely seen something that's off the beaten path. By that, I mean simple little things like red velvet cake donuts, or chocolate with coconut. I don't know that I've ever seen something like that here. If they do that kind of stuff, my apologies. I must be coming on the wrong days. (Almost always Saturday or Sunday.) read more

The star in my opinion are the cherry and blueberry danish, I can literally eat my self sick on those. The chocolate chip cookies are superb as are the brownie bites. I really like woods bakery in O'Fallon. It is one of few old school bakeries that I still respect for doing stuff with frosting as well as the donuts breads and other traditional bakery items. Their standard plain chocolate or vanilla cupcake is $1.25, and then they have filled cupcakes that are $1.50 as well as fancy decorated cupcakes with buttercream roses for $1.50 as well. This is my go to when I visit. The cupcakes are not over iced the cake is moist and it is the perfect little sweet without breaking the bank. On Sundays they are open until noon which I like to visit after church so it is a nice treat when o am leaving my church in O'Fallon. The donuts are competitive. They are not great they are not awful, but a good solid donut. I had the best cheese and fresh blueberry Danish here and I still think about it since I enjoyed it in the summer. The staff is friendly, the baked goods I have here are fresh so check it out! It's worth the visit if you have never been and it is worth a revisit if you have been there before! read more

It was my first time visiting this shop, it's the closest shop to SAFB. I can say that they have the typical doughnut selection but with modified names. The doughnuts aren't as airy & fluffy as I expected and the cream fill seemed sweet but like a sugary texture sweet not the smooth creamy sweet. Would we visit again, most likely because it's the closest to base but I would defiantly try the fresh doughnuts at Schnucks before returning. read more

Spring has sprung and Easter is but tomorrow, so what to celebrate with? Naturally, one of Wood's bunny cookies. That's right. These are the best. But if you're not into rabbits, perhaps some donuts or cake, or pies, or bread. Woods has it all and is one of the best bakeries in the area. They've been around seemingly forever and in December, they have springerle cookies. If you've never had one, give them a try. They have a hint of anise and are one of my favorites, plus these are only available during the holiday season. If you go, they're in downtown O'fallon, IL and if you go late in the day, you might miss out on your favorite bakery goodies for the place is really hopping in the morning. read more
