Traditional pub in the village of Embleton. We visited 'early doors' and it was very quiet, in fact it was like sitting in a library at first! Fairly plain decor and a little dark inside but none the worse for that. There are tables on a grassy area across the road which would be nice on a sunny day. The Alnwick IPA is a smashing pint, so much so we'll be making sure we visit again for another one before we return home later this week. I spotted a separate dining room to the rear of the pub and a glance at the specials board revealed some locally inspired choices including Craster kipper cake and also scallops. Open all day from noon with food served noon till 3pm and 6pm till 8.30pm when we visited in October. Pleasant enough pub really, I kind of wish you could give half stars really though as 3.5 stars feels right for here. read more
