She even went above to check with the kitchen to ensure certain foods were made allergen friendly! The only downside we had was the music slightly too loud at times. Aside from that, we all left happy with our food choices and full. Will be coming back!

It was a windy, cloudy day but we still very much enjoyed the experience of walking up into the treehouse, and playing around a bit on the bridges that wind through the trees around the restaurant. The restaurant itself is a bit like a fairy-tale setting - everything made of wood, big wooden chairs that are fit for a king, a fireplace in the middle, and sparkly white lights draped throughout. At night I'm sure the effect is stunning! The servers were all incredibly friendly, timely, and gracious throughout. Definitely a reason to come. It is pricey, with two courses for £18.50, and I must say I do think it's a bit overpriced although we enjoyed all of our food. I had the goat cheese and beetroot salad which was elegantly presented. The beet was sliced very thin and drizzled with basil oil, and the pieces of cheese were generously portioned and creamy. Little walnuts and micro greens as well, very tasty. A good light starter. My mom also really enjoyed her potato leek soup and said she liked how much it tasted like leeks, and wasn't too thick and heavy and potato-y. I had the pork for my lunch - all the roasts come with two roast potatoes, mash, steamed veggies, and a Yorkshire pudding. The Yorkshire puddings were really fantastic - if such a simple thing can be "fantastic" but I think it can! The veggies were fine, all very simply prepared. I liked my pork, but wasn't over the moon about it. It was a bit tough, and the mustard and apple sauce was good, but not great. The beef, however, looked absolutely fantastic and cooked perfectly. I was quite jealous of my dad's plate! We decided not to get dessert or any drinks, so can't comment there. All-in-all, most people enjoyed their meal very much. I think it's a bit pricey for the quality - though it was good, when you're paying that much you want to be blown away, don't you? But it would be lovely for a special occasion in the evening when you can truly get the effect from all the lights. But I think for a Sunday roast dinner, you could probably get one just as nice at other places in town. Still, the atmosphere and the friendly servers made you feel more like you "got what you paid for" in the end.

Mackays Frys - The best fish and chips in the world - not that I'm biased.

Despite there being a perfectly ok chip shop literally across the road from our house it was always worth jumping in the car to get a proper fish supper from Mackays. When I was living at home the shop was further along the high street but this location (the old Co-op) is perfect for a fish and chip shop and cafe. The take away counter faces the high street and in the back heading out to the sea wall is the cafe. They even have picnic tables looking out over the sea with parasols to save you from seagulls diving bombing your chips. You can always spot a tourist by the nonchalant way they assume they can eat their chips walking along the sea wall, locals know this is the fastest way to loose your chips and risk being pooed on! Anyone who has been there will tell you that a present from a seagull is not lucky, they are massive birds with a fish based diet. Just sit under the umbrellas please! G and I had abandoned the girls with my mum and were working on the rule that calories consumed more than 50 miles from your home address really don't count so both ordered fish suppers to go. We sat at the picnic tables laughing at the tourists fending off seagull attacks and tucked into the best fish and chips ever. The chips are perfect mainly chunky, light and fluffy but with just enough wee crispy ones mixed through to keep everyone happy. But the reason you come to a fishing town to eat fish and chips isn't the chips! The fish here is spectacular. Fresh, meaty, flaky perfection encased in the most spectacularly crisp gold batter. I'm salivating just typing this. They make their own ice-cream and I have only ever heard really good things about it, am pretty sure it wins awards. But I just come for fish and chips. The only downside is that it ruins you so that no other fish supper will ever satisfy again, to be honest I'd still do it.

It is a delightful little cafe with a mix of traditional British and cafe dishes as well as a wide variety of cakes, tarts, and other sweets. I had the steak and kidney pudding which was delicious. My wife went for the leek and potato soup and a salad, my son for the sausage, gravy & chips, and my daughter for the corned beef pie - and there were no complaints and little conversation until plates began to empty. Sadly, we had no room left for dessert and our plan to come back for afters came to naught. The service was sweet and attentive and as I said the atmosphere is cosy, quaint, and (it must be admitted) a little bit homely. Come for lunch or come for an afternoon tea and cake but do come.

The cakes are very rich and filling. The sausage rolls decidly average. Undetired on another trip we went to sit in this time. The food that came was enormous. They serve some delicate options but in winter you tend to go for big servings. I had a nice country home made soup but my fella had the roast dinner and I dont think you could have gotten more on a plate. The service was okay and the place doesnt look fantastic inside. Too many tables and cheap decor but the food is really hearty
