They stock a complete array of local ales and if you look on the ceiling you will find all the different locally brewed brands they have had. Recommended with a great and very brisk walk along the sands with views of Dunstanburgh castle. Fantastic photo opportunities abound here. Talking to the lady behind the bar she informed us that they have just added some B&B accommodation, this will come in handy for relatives visiting us from Yorkshire, a bit different from the usual premier inn. The pub itself has a very nice lounge, very relaxing with fireplace. There is plenty of seating in the restaurant and this has a warm atmosphere. There is a separate bar area which also has a nice feel to it. I will come back here again, and although I do not live in Ellington, i wish this was my local! Plenty of parking outside the pub. It is a hotel and the reception is inside the pub so it is open all day which is unusual for many of the village pubs in this area. They serve food from noon till 3pm and 6pm till 9pm but we didn't dine so I can't comment on the quality of the food. There were three or four local beers on including Secret Kingdom and Coast to Coast from Hadrian's Border Brewery as well as the usual lagers etc. There is a pool table, and we enjoy a game, but on each occasion that we were in it was totally monopolised by the landlord and staff. I'm sure we could have put our 50p on the table but I don't think we'd have been too popular! :-) The pub is dog friendly and has a beer garden to the rear which would be a nice place to while away an hour on a sunny day. It's also enough to feed a grown man. The beer selection is not vast, but includes 2-3 handpumped ales, plus the usual roster of fizzy lagers. There's a nice wine selection as well.
