They stock a complete array of local ales and if you look on the ceiling you will find all the different locally brewed brands they have had. The food is great, never had a meal we could complain about, lovely baked goats cheese starter, seafood broth, and of course, all locally caught. Recommended with a great and very brisk walk along the sands with views of Dunstanburgh castle. Fantastic photo opportunities abound here. In fact I hate to give this little place away, but don't worry you don't stand a chance of getting booked in anywhere around here, everyone else has discovered it well before we did.

It is so pretty in the summer when it is adorned with flowers that you just can't help but want to stop off there as you're passing through :-) Inside it is rather more modern than you might expect and quite smart for a pub. There is a bar area, and a room off to the side with leather chairs and sofas and a TV. At the other end of the pub there is an extensive dining area and the pub does seem heavily geared towards dining. We had just popped in for a beer and there was Black Sheep and Old Speckled Hen on both of which were very pleasant. The staff were welcoming and friendly and we spent a relaxing and very enjoyable hour there.

I forgot to book for breakfast, but the lady in the pub was extremely understanding and we had a cooked breakfast within a few minutes. (The Craster kipper was to die for!) All of the staff were friendly and extremely welcoming. Overall, it was excellent value. It was one of the most pleasant stays I've had in a pub and I will definitely be back. Absolutely excellent, in every respect.

Beautiful situation at the west end of Beadnell village. The food is OK and not hugely overpriced. Local fish dishes are on offer as well as local beers. The atmosphere is very pleasant. Well suited to large and family parties. For many years the place was owned by a family, but a recent change of ownership may have contributed to a slight drop in standards. Food portions are not always generous and meals are not always as hot as one might wish for.

It is a hotel and the reception is inside the pub so it is open all day which is unusual for many of the village pubs in this area. They serve food from noon till 3pm and 6pm till 9pm but we didn't dine so I can't comment on the quality of the food. There were three or four local beers on including Secret Kingdom and Coast to Coast from Hadrian's Border Brewery as well as the usual lagers etc. There is a pool table, and we enjoy a game, but on each occasion that we were in it was totally monopolised by the landlord and staff. I'm sure we could have put our 50p on the table but I don't think we'd have been too popular! :-) The pub is dog friendly and has a beer garden to the rear which would be a nice place to while away an hour on a sunny day. Reasonable little pub really, I'd have given it four stars if we'd been able to play pool! :-)

Open all day from noon with food served noon till 3pm and 6pm till 8.30pm when we visited in October. They keep a good selection of real ales. Tyneside Blonde, Black sheep etc. A better selection of wines than most pub restaurants. The service is always friendly and the locals will always be happy to chat.

There is a separate bar area which also has a nice feel to it. I will come back here again, and although I do not live in Ellington, i wish this was my local! Plenty of parking outside the pub. Okay, let's face it: The *only* tourist attraction. The decor is clean, bright and stylish, the menu not excessively long (just five or so starters & mains each - always a good sign), and all the "specials" (mains) cost UKP 10. I had the beef burger with chips and salad garnish, and it was one of the best burgers I've had in my life (and I've had quite a few). Instead of the standard sesame bun, here they use a breakfast brioche, which is much more tasty (and slightly sweet). And instead of the often flabby American-style chips that you get at so many pubs, they serve crisp French fries here. The patty itself is juicy and of good quality. It's also enough to feed a grown man. The beer selection is not vast, but includes 2-3 handpumped ales, plus the usual roster of fizzy lagers. There's a nice wine selection as well. Of course, the place offers the "full bar" range. Staff is friendly, if not especially committed. Don't expect anyone asking you whether you're enjoying the food. Perhaps you have to be a local to get that kind of attention.
