This is a good pub with a reasonable amount of off road parking and some decent beers. The old part of the building is still used as the pub and is a very pleasant environment. The landlord keeps an open fire going any time that the weather can justify it, which leads to a lovely cozy atmosphere.
We went here for lunch on a quiet week day and were the only people in the restaurant. I ordered the roast beef and my wife ordered a turkey and ham pie. The presentation was very nice and the service was very friendly.
Unfortunately I can't recommend the food. The beef was tough and the gravy was tasteless. The 'pie' was a thin stew served in a dish with a puffed pastry abortion slapped on top as it left the kitchen. A pie has to be made as a piece, if it is a stew with a puffed pastry thing then that's how it should be sold. Very disappointing and not to the standard that it used to be.
It was not expensive, perhaps I expect too much. But I wouldn't eat there again, how much is food you wouldn't eat worth? read more
