In a town not over-flowing with nice pubs (only the Tanner's Arms appealed otherwise, partly due to a decent jukebox), this was a pleasant surprise.
Only opening in the evenings (7-11pm!), and situated essentially in a residential house, you won't be expecting much, but when you go in, you're treated to a large menu of belgian beers as well as an ever-changing roster of hand-pulls.
The owner is clearly a craft beer afficionado (and friendly to boot): the guest beers were all well kept, and picked from around the country. The beers change more than weekly, helping keep them fresh and interesting.
It's not a busy, loud, or youthful place, so think more "quiet pint" than "raucous Friday night", but that's probably rather suited if you're in the area for a nice weekend of castles and beaches. read more
