As a pub, it's pretty basic. The interior hasn't been done up to a trendy level and there's not…read moremany amenities. But it's got a lovely fireplace, a pool table, a dart board, TVs and a large beer garden out the back. There's even B&B accommodation upstairs which is reasonably priced and is not inundated with noise from the pub downstairs somewhat defying expectation. What makes this a good pub are the people. The staff are first-rate and very welcoming and Decca and Susan really make an effort to make people feel welcome. The patrons are a lovely bunch - when I walked in for the first time I didn't have to try very hard to meet people and have some good laughs. You might not immediately like the look of the place when you stick your head in the door, but it's well worth going in and having a chat and a pint or two. The Sunday lunch is cheap and cheerful and rightfully very popular.

A surprisingly good pub. Beers are pretty standard, but there's nothing wrong with that. Sunday…read morelunch is terrific and amazingly well priced. Susan, the landlady, is very welcoming as are all the staff and you can end up spending more time here than you'd intended. The log fire is brilliant on a winter's day and the (huge) beer garden is very welcome in warmer seasons. There's B&B accommodation upstairs and you might think it'd be noisy, but even on a Saturday night with the pub in full flow, you can't hear a thing. Clean, tidy rooms with ensuites.

We came in with a group of 11, and were promptly seated and served well! Our waiter was Mel, and…read moreshe was quite attentive, making sure we were good on drinks and accommodating all dietary restrictions. She even went above to check with the kitchen to ensure certain foods were made allergen friendly! The only downside we had was the music slightly too loud at times. Aside from that, we all left happy with our food choices and full. Will be coming back!

I had a very nice Sunday lunch here today with my boyfriend and family. We booked ahead and I'm…read moreglad we did, as the place was quite packed by 1 pm. It was a windy, cloudy day but we still very much enjoyed the experience of walking up into the treehouse, and playing around a bit on the bridges that wind through the trees around the restaurant. The restaurant itself is a bit like a fairy-tale setting - everything made of wood, big wooden chairs that are fit for a king, a fireplace in the middle, and sparkly white lights draped throughout. At night I'm sure the effect is stunning! The servers were all incredibly friendly, timely, and gracious throughout. Definitely a reason to come. It is pricey, with two courses for £18.50, and I must say I do think it's a bit overpriced although we enjoyed all of our food. I had the goat cheese and beetroot salad which was elegantly presented. The beet was sliced very thin and drizzled with basil oil, and the pieces of cheese were generously portioned and creamy. Little walnuts and micro greens as well, very tasty. A good light starter. My mom also really enjoyed her potato leek soup and said she liked how much it tasted like leeks, and wasn't too thick and heavy and potato-y. I had the pork for my lunch - all the roasts come with two roast potatoes, mash, steamed veggies, and a Yorkshire pudding. The Yorkshire puddings were really fantastic - if such a simple thing can be "fantastic" but I think it can! The veggies were fine, all very simply prepared. I liked my pork, but wasn't over the moon about it. It was a bit tough, and the mustard and apple sauce was good, but not great. The beef, however, looked absolutely fantastic and cooked perfectly. I was quite jealous of my dad's plate! We decided not to get dessert or any drinks, so can't comment there. All-in-all, most people enjoyed their meal very much. I think it's a bit pricey for the quality - though it was good, when you're paying that much you want to be blown away, don't you? But it would be lovely for a special occasion in the evening when you can truly get the effect from all the lights. But I think for a Sunday roast dinner, you could probably get one just as nice at other places in town. Still, the atmosphere and the friendly servers made you feel more like you "got what you paid for" in the end.
