The first rule of Cisco's is: You do not talk about Cisco's…read more I've never heard another student say that they're going to Cisco's for lunch. Come to think of it, in my four years in the city, I've not heard a peep about Cisco's. So, really, what's waiting down Port Street is a bit of a hidden gem. So much so that it feels odd to share the secret (as Scott D said!) since Cisco's is just the sort of place you want to stumble upon yourself. Whilst it isn't particularly hard to find or tucked away, I'd managed to pass by so many times before discovering it on Yelp quite some time ago. So up till now, Cisco's had been no more than an overdue bookmark on my Yelp list. But today, I finally visited for lunch. There's a kitsch bike outside with the signature Cisco's sign which is a nice decorative touch. Whilst it's on the small and cosey side, we managed to get seats straight away as it wasn't too busy. Despite this, there was still a bustling, thriving vibe with a steady stream of customers popping in for lunch to-go and the staff working away and chatting with hungry mid-day lunchers. I loved the upbeat yet relaxed feel and the staff were so friendly and chirpy! Looking at the chalkboards dotted around, there was lots to choose from. (The first thing I noticed were the cakes, I just can't wait to go back to try them and hopefully give them my beloved five stars! The carrot cake looked delicious!) I had a chai latte and a roasted vegetable and mozzarella toastie. The latte was frothy perfection and the toastie was delicious, fresh and came with a sprinkling of crisps. At just under £7, it's reasonably good value and definitely somewhere I'd love to be spending my time. So now you know. Do with this information what you will. PS. You should really pop in. PPS. Save me a slice of carrot cake.

So you know that bar in Cheers where everybody knows your name... well this is the coffee shop…read moreversion of that! Seriously, I love the atmosphere in this family-run cafe in the heart of Stirling. I have recently started working in Stirling and frequent this place often for my morning hot chocolate or for lunch. There is a great selection of sandwiches, paninis and home baking on offer. I believe they also sell venison burgers though have not sampled this myself yet! There is always a selection of homemade soups to try as well as daily specials for the sandwich fillings... The only downside of this place is that is small in terms of seating. I forgive it that completely though because the service and warm, friendly staff and excellent coffee more than make up for that. A true gem!
