I am not sure how this place has so many 5 star reviews. There was loud street noise, it was absolutely absurd. This place is right on a fairly busy highway. And there was a loud generator running somewhere, combined with honking horns, motorcycles, and more. The remote for the TV did not work, I think it was out of batteries. The WiFi was spotty and was on and off. I had to use my iPhone as a hotspot instead. The water handle in the shower was so loose it almost fell off. But the room was clean, and stocked with all it needed. But I do believe the purpose of a hotel room is still to get some sleep. I got a horrible night's sleep, and couldn't even use their Wi-Fi. Those are the two key things I need in a hotel room. There's no way I can recommend this place, and I will positively never come back. I guess if you needed an inexpensive place to stay in the area and don't mind noise, maybe it's worth the suffering. But be prepared for some things to be broken in the room. read more

Awesome little boutique hotel on the south part of Oceanside (close to Carlsbad)! Check in to our super cute room was easy, they text you the code to get in. Great communication through email. There are only 12 rooms, one hot tub, a fire pit, picnic tables and a free parking lot in front. It is on Coast Highway but not as loud as you'd think. Close to lots of shops and restaurants. They have bikes and surf boards you can use. There is a coffee machine in your room along with wine cups and some of the units have kitchens. We drank our wine around the fire pit and actually met and visited with really cool people. In the morning there was hot coffee and doughnuts in the little common area. I think the Green Room was great for what it is, nice design and amenities. I liked the music playing in the courtyard area. There's some really awesome food and beverage options very close by. Just a quick walk or bike ride into Carlsbad too. My ONLY gripe is the TV in my room was horrible. I was traveling solo, and just wanted to chill and watch a move or Netflix before bed. The tv was very small for how far it was from the bed, and the quality was so bad that if you turned the sound loud enough to hear it, it became muffled. Couldn't win lol. I know it's only a TV hence still 4 stars, but damn that TV sucked. read more

Beware - roach infested hotel with unethical business practices. bugs. so many bugs. over two dozen bugs in our room over the course of our three night stay. i wish i was exaggerating. sadly, i am not. i know this place has great reviews, so i thought maybe this was out of the ordinary. i tried to resolve this with them prior to posting a negative review. i reported the issue to them during our stay, and they did some sort of mid stay cleaning, but this made the problem worse. now, instead of 1 bug every time we used the bathroom, we were finding 3-5. we were now seeing bugs in the main room area too. i watched one walk right in from under the main room door. i let them know and they told me they would offer us a different room, but they were fully booked. they offered to spray more, but why bother given the earlier spraying had made things worse and it was now after 9pm. i asked for a refund that night, they never responded regarding that. we left early the next morning since we couldn't sleep, we were so disgusted. i let them know we had left, and again, i asked for a refund since our vacation had been ruined. now someone named steve is responding and telling me they are doing some sort of analysis with their pest control company. he wants to have a phone conversation to discuss our experience. seriously? i don't want to invest any more of my time or energy into this. this already ruined our vacation, we are now spending all of our time since we got home cleaning every single thing we brought with us in hopes we didn't bring bugs home. i never wanted to write this review. i never wanted to have a reason to do so. i wish we never had this experience. i wish they would've done a single thing to try to make things right with us after this nightmare. i truly feel that if this were out of the ordinary for them, they would've already done something to resolve this with me. i hope you never have to go through anything like this. avoid this place. so disgusting. Edit in response to business owner's response: Over a week after our stay, the business owner sent me an offer to refund us for half of our stay if I would take down my (accurate) negative public review. Now it all makes sense why this place has such glowing reviews - it's because they are paying negative reviewers to take their reviews down. I decided to decline the offer since I want to keep my review up in hopes that I can help others make informed decisions about staying here. The business owner posted his response here after I declined his offer. The fact that they are trying to say we brought the roaches with us is laughable, since we already told them that we found the first one immediately upon entering the room and watched one walk right in from under the main door. So apparently their "thorough investigation" wasn't very good if that is the outcome. They are trying to act like we are the first people to ever have an issue with roaches in our room, but take a look at Kimberly B's review on Yelp from Jul 14, 2022. She mentions roaches in her room. So we were not alone in our experience. Also, if they really thought we brought the roaches with us, why would they be offering us such a big refund? Obviously they don't believe we brought them with us, they are just trying to avoid taking accountability and being nasty. In their direct correspondence with me, they have never accused us of bringing the roaches with us, they are just doing this publicly to disparage me. Initially, when I reached out during the stay 'just to let them know' about the bugs, I was trying to give them the benefit of the doubt and allow them the opportunity to treat the situation with care and urgency. They did the mid stay cleaning while we were out for the day. We were hoping this would resolve the problem; but instead, we came back late that night to find it had made things worse. At this point we didn't want them to come over again to disturb us and do more spraying. This is when I first asked for a refund, as I would have liked to have found other accommodations for the night, but they ignored that request for a refund. The business owner mentions that they offered to move us to a different room; but as I had mentioned in my review, they didn't do this as they told us they were fully booked. When the business owner finally texted me this week regarding a refund offer, I told them I hadn't gotten the email, so they sent me a screenshot of the email. But oops, they sent a screenshot of an email to another person offering them a refund. I'm not sure if this person's problem was also related to bugs, but regardless...just another example of the business trying to pay someone off to not post negative reviews. So shady. I've attached a screenshot of that email with Jennifer's last name crossed out. I hope you find this information useful when looking for a place to stay. read more

We had a great bachelorette weekend here! Our unit was styled very tastefully in a contemporary eclectic style. We had all the amenities we needed for our stay. There was even a woven swing in our living room area which was a fun addition! Shay was very friendly and helpful when we had questions or needed anything sent to our room! Great customer service here. The parking was a bit tight as the lot is teeny and you're only allotted one spot. The hot tub also didn't have any chlorine pods in it when we went in, and there was a fair bit of algae growing. The outdoor common area was really cute, though, and the coffee being set up for guests each morning was a nice touch. Overall, I'd recommend staying here! read more

Great place to stay for a little staycation when we need a couple days away from our kids lol. Beach bikes, fire pit, great cedar hot tub, and perfect location close to the beach and shops/restaurants. The rooms have hip decorations and trendy style. Love that it's a no contact hotel with self check in/check out. We've stayed here a few times and every time they're super responsive with questions/help through text. The smell of the last room we stayed in was pretty stale...we brought our own candles so it wasn't a big issue. Also the people next door had a few dogs so we could hear them barking- but those were the only downsides. I'm sure we will be back again soon! read more

I agree with a previous reviewer that I have no idea how this place has so many 5 star reviews...except that if you read another review they obviously offer compensation to take down a negative review. They obviously employed an amazing photographer and website builder. This place is NOTHING like the pictures show - and we showed up with having the wrong room number (one that doesn't exist) and had to call the manager. Then, we could not get the room opened and it took the manager 30 minutes as well to figure that out...and he offered us some coffee pods as compensation.... and that's before we saw a room that looked nothing like the pictures. Had a solo retreat and was able to book a room last minute. The weather in Oceanside was gloomy but I mostly went there to finish my book, start a new book, study for an employment exam, and get away from my family. It served its purpose. I drove past it which is part of the reason I loved it. Privacy. Contact less, but still plenty of communication was available if you needed it. I didn't need more than was given. The location was good for me because I could walk to coffee close by at Bound or further away at Vigilante. Actually when I drove in, I stopped at Vigilante to read and drink tea. My room was ready early so I was able to drive over once my tea was done. Dinner was out the door and I found myself enjoying a Paloma at Home State which I know is a place I frequent when I'm home but I rarely drink because I'm usually with my kid so it's skipped. It was enjoyable to be able to walk to food. There were other options and an organic food shop across the street. I love the overall style of the place and I look forward to my next solo trip or one with my teen. Definitely a gem. read more

What an adorable place. My husband deployed and my daughter and I needed a get-away. We drove up from Vegas to stay two nights Room is extremely clean. I love the vintage touches and your own personal patio. My daughter was quick to place her scooter on the patio. The first night we walked to the beach and saw dolphins playing relatively close to shore and with surfers. It was magical. We ate at the bbq place next door and it was so delicious. I'm a Texan and good bbq is hard to come by. My mouth was watering. My only complaint is the motorcycles that go up and down the main drag. It is so incredibly loud. I had two white noise apps going on our iPads to try and drown it out. I couldn't get the fan to work on the heater, usually that is sufficient enough to drown out noise. I live in quiet suburbia though, so maybe I'm just not used to traffic noise. read more

What a great place to stay! The room we had was amazing! Beautifully furnished, including retro fridge, stove and gorgeous all glass shower ( I need one of those showers), everything clean and sparkly. All the little touches and thoughtfulness that went into the decor made it truly unique. We were close to all kinds of eateries, Carlsbad shopping, bars and the beach. It was also nice to sit outside on our patio with a glass of wine after tooling around the area. We agreed that The Green Room Hotel is our new favorite hotel, and look forward to our next trip. Man, hands down this spot was awesome to stay at. Steven is amazing! Plans were to visit in August. However due to an illness, those plans had to changed for a later date. Steven worked with me to reschedule my original dates to those in September. Upon arrival, it's contactless check-in. Loved it. Didn't have to deal with anyone. Just check in to our room and relax. The key code locks on each room I love. Our room was spacious. A mini kitchenette with a fridge WITH a separate freezer. Stove, microwave WITHOUT a clock on it. I loved there was no clock in the room. The brick areas of the room did get a bit hot during the day, but cooled down nicely in the evenings. All the amenities you would find at a major mid-high level hotel chain, you got here. Lotion, shampoo, conditioner, bath gel, beach towels, the option to use the bikes on property, paddle, surf and boogie boards. Even a snack and drink option inside the room for a charge. The bed was low to easy fall down into. Plush type bed with a firm and non firm pillows. The tv was relatively small compared to the stand it sits on. The hotel sits right near lots of places to grab food, drink, gas and groceries. The big thing is it is close to the beach and other surrounding beaches. Not far off the freeway. Enjoyed our stay here greatly. For the couple days we stayed here, each time we came back to the room, it was like we were coming home. What a find! read more

This place is so cozy and cute. We stayed in room 12, the 2 story space, and it had plenty of room for our family of five . It felt nothing like a hotel. It was cozy , quiet, and had its own full kitchen. The entire place felt like a little beach cottage. It was also so so clean, the beds and pillows are AMAZING!!! There were plenty of towels stocked and they have a community ice machine, and water station. There is a small hot tub and fire pit we took advantage of and loved. LOCATION was amazing! We ate at home state and the bakery next door. My kids loved the vintage games and collectibles around the corner. Also ate at the cutest ice cream shop called little fox , amazing flavors and so pretty inside ! Next time we stay here we'd love to take out the complimentary bikes and boards! 100% recommend this place. It's clean, cute, in a great location, and really took our trip to the next level. I truly hardly write reviews on Yelp. But this hotel deserves all the stars and praise. I did a one night stay in their suite and everything was amazing. From a very convenient contactless check in & check out process, trendy and well-manintained courtyard and jacuzzi, SUUUUPER comfy beds and even a lil welcome goodie bag. I cannot say enough great things about this hotel. The location itself is so convenient. We were able to walk to coffee shops & restaurants. If you are looking to drive instead of walk, everything is within a 5min drive with Carlsbad Village right down the way as well. We woke up and were pleasantly surprised with a text informing us there were donuts and coffee in their kitchenette area. What comes this cute little hotel quite honestly I didn't even really pay all that much attention to it I just didn't feel like I wanted to stay in a big giant building, I'm guessing you know what I mean. When I got here I was kind of amazed. The place is adorable, down to earth so cute I can't even tell you cozy and I'm definitely coming back. It's charming and clean easy to get in I feel safe in the rooms and it's just been a great experience. If you're one of those people that Hass to have somebody sitting at the front desk that you could harass This is not the place for you. Lol they don't really have a front desk but they have a phone number and when I had to call somebody was available for me. It's super simple and relaxed. Absolutely loved our stay here. We could walk everywhere. Such a great vibe to this fully renovated boutique motel. The beach was a 10 minute walk, lots of bars with some fantastic sour beers and for the natural grocery fans there is one right across the street. Only one mile from Downtown Carlsbad. I loved staying here, love the location, contactless check-in, cute rooms, everything. But Roaches. I keep my room very clean, I even brought my own Clorox wipes and cleaning spray products lol. But roaches appeared during the night because as soon as I would get up in the middle of the night to use the restroom and turn on the lights BAM! multiple of these tiny roaches. I did not leave anything out open. I would rinse out my soda cans I brought because that's just something I grew up doing in my parents house so ants don't come and as far as trash I would throw my trash out every time I leave the room but they still appeared. Not sure if I was the only one who experienced this or if it's common with rooms close to the beach but just for those who do leave cups with drinks still in them out, bottles with caps off, chips bags open or food out just beware that roaches come fast and in multiples. read more

We found this little gem in Coastal Living magazine and tried it for a two-night anniversary stay during the week. This is a cleverly modernized old fashioned roadside motel. Room decor was a mix of modern, retro and antiques with kitchen, all in 400SF! Art theme was the Rolling Stones. The motel's location just north of the lagoon from Carlsbad provided easy access to both towns. Though there is much to do along the coast, downtime in the room was quite comfortable and restful. Our portable beach recliner provided the extra seating needed for hanging out. Customer service via phone and text was extremely responsive and helpful. One more thing - temperature & humidity was really high for coastal SoCal, but the AC worked great! read more

Like other reviewers have said, this place is an absolute WINNER!! I wanted to take some of my family on a little 3 night holiday and after extensive research decided on The Green Room. I've been stung a few times with Air B and B and have now gone back to hotels because of too many bad experiences. The fact that it's very small was a big draw for me, as well as the fact that the rooms have kitchens. You really feel like you have your own private space and no one above you which is a mega bonus. Basically all the perks of an Air B and B but none of the bad stuff. There isn't a lobby or someone on site to talk to (if that's a problem for you) but Stephen was absolutely incredible via phone/text. Anytime I reached out, I'd quickly get a text back. Honestly, I liked being able to just walk up and get into the room without having to "check in" at a desk - so hassle free. The room was wonderful. Lots of natural light but also lush greenery that blocks the street view and tastefully adds privacy. I loved the decor, so simple but also very welcoming. We used the bed and also the sleeper sofa in Room 10 and everyone was happy and comfortable. I am an absolute clean freak and this place was CLEAN. Usually it feels like people just rush through cleaning these days or do the bare minimum, not this place. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING was clean. I'm talking about the type of clean where you could eat off the floor - unreal. I was even under looking the bed at one point looking for my daughter's toy and it was spotless. The linens were so crisp and fresh! It was so refreshing and made me feel even more comfortable in the space. There are bikes, surfboards, a fire pit and even a hot tub for everyone to enjoy (weather permitting). It's also very close to tons of restaurants and fun coffee shops. We actually loved it so much we've already booked our next trip here. If you're looking for a great little boutique hotel that feels like home, look no further. My husband and I spent two nights at The Green Room for our anniversary. I was floored by how clean the room was when we got there, and the effort that went into the over vibe. We lounged in bed, went to a handful of local restaurants, and used the provided beach cruisers to roam around Oceanside and ended up at the beach where we met a colony of beach squirrels! Loved LOVED the hotel, but the squirrels were the highlight! we also loved the natural scent of the cedar hot tub! My husband and I stayed at The Green Room Hotel for 4 nights. The staff throughout booking and checking in was so helpful, kind, and answered all my multiple questions, I had. The whole process was easy, and simple. We arrived 30 mins early from check in time and it was pouring rain.The staff was so nice and let us check in early.The room was just as described and even more beautiful in person. The hotel is clean, stylish, and feels more like a house its so inviting.They add such personal touches that you can tell they truly care. For example, they had a few cups, bowls, silverware, first aide kit, beach towels, and so many other things, I cant remember. The whole time my husband and I were able to relax and enjoy our vacation. During our whole stay we never had any problems with parking and the hotel is so convenient located to everything. My husband and I were in Oceanside to attend a 50th Anniversary Party. We opted not to stay at The Seabird where the party was, instead booking the quaint Green Room. We saved money on the nightly rates, no parking fees and no resort taxes. We arrived to contactless checkin and were very pleased with the clean, cute room. The staff delivered an ironing board and additional half and half. She was prompt and very friendly. Phone and text communication with Steve was swift. My husband took advantage of the complimentary cruiser as I enjoyed a book on the patio under the black and white umbrella. Loved the black paint of the buildings and the landscaping. My husband did have to explain what a "green room" is to me. LOL read more

We just hosted our Welcome Reception for our Covid delayed wedding. We reserved all the rooms and this was "home base" for the whole weekend. Groom's mom provided libations and the taco truck on Friday and old and new friends gathered in this lovely setting! Saturday, after the wedding, the celebration continued. Sunday morning, dear friends hosted a casual brunch on the patio, and Sunday evening we wrapped up a fantastic weekend with all our friends. The Green Room made our we'd weekend a time to remember!
