Traveling around England , we were hunting for the fabulous Sunday Roast -Beef Wellington & Yorkshire pudding !! We Found it !! The chef made it fresh & all ingredients were homemade. The pub is quant & cozy with a lounge room upstairs I guess for the dinner crowd. Our server was amazing & I mentioned I was battling a cold & wanted a decongestant. Not only did they direct me to a drug store, the chef actually ran out & bought it for me !!! We also were privy to a Pirates of the Caribbean movie star shhhh!!! So this place must be a hidden gem. Ahhh what a lovely pub! Truly British with a quirky edge. The decor is random, colourful and not in any way matching which I love. I specifically like the bear over the bar - it has character. There's plenty of seating both outside and in, with a large function room upstairs. Plenty of drink options at reasonable prices with a nice selection of wine and beers on tap. They also have a menu of small plates which sound amazing!! My rose was delightful and the overall vibe and atmosphere of the pub was infectious. I can't wait to come back and try the food but for now I am perfectly content with my experience. read more

This place gets really crowded from happy hour and beyond. They serve hot food and a list of wine. No cocktails, but they do simple mixers, meh. Loaded with suited men that just came out of work, chatting their ties and suitcases away as the noise level goes up. There's outdoor and upstair seatings. The crowd does get a bit more of a mix as the night goes by- as in less men in suit and more young hipsters blasting on loud music as they munch on their dinner. Oh, the pub also smells strongly on food than of actual drinks, and the staffs are a bit on the obnoxious side (so are the customers). Drinks are average priced. It's super crowded around/inside and out the pub. Noise level is high. Music level is high. Drinks get you high; aka I can't deal, this place isn't exactly my cup of tea. But if you like suits and ties and people chatting away loudly while dining, then yes, please do enjoy your night here. read more

My friend took me here as it is close to where she works and she always wanted to go. This place looks really nice from the outside. I'm a big fan of fairy lights in windows for some strange reason. Although filled with local trendy Shoreditch types in the bar downstairs, the quaint little dining room upstairs is surprisingly calm and relaxed. The service was really good, the staff were attentive but also just chilled out, which I prefer. I remember that my starter was really tasty, I think I had the prawns, and my main was pleasant although not memorable but perhaps that's my fault because I didn't choose a more exciting dish. I think it was the salmon. The nice thing was that we stayed for quite a while, chatting and even though we were the last table there, they didn't rush us and just let us be. I'd definitely come back, for both the food and drink. read more

The Green is another establishment that is really more a restaurant than a pub. It only has one real ale, which is not superbly kept. However, as a lunchtime eating place, it is good. There is a good selection of wines, and a tasty menu. It's not cheap - starters are around £5.00 and mains around £12. You wouldn't necessarily want to lunch in here daily! There is a reasonable wine list, though we did note yesterday that the waitress asked us to taste the winefrom a screw top! As seems to be typical in this area, the restaurant is all hard surfaces, so increasing the noise level. There is also some seating outside when the weather's decent. As the restaurant is on the green, this is reasonably pleasant. I've had starter, mains and desert here - yesterday's smoke trout terrine was quite lovely. They have good chips and the fillet of fish I had a few weeks ago was equally nice. In general, I would recommend this. read more

More of a gastropub than your run of the mill pub, The Green is more suited for those that want to have a meal with some drinks, rather than drink and a quick bite to eat. Upstairs they normally have the dining room operating, although on a Monday night, they offer the dinner menu downstairs in the pub area. When not offering the dining menu downstairs, they also have small plates to share, with a bit more of a British influence than your typical tapas place. Order at the bar, and make sure you order the grilled prawn and the spicy meatballs as one of those small plates. read more

The food here is nice enough, and the place is certainly worth a visit for a good meal - think simple ingredients, well prepared. Nothing wrong with it at all, but nothing special either - just a nice, reliable place to eat. read more

I went to The Green yesterday on a cold winters day. It was absolutely freezing inside. This was not helped by the the door for the smokers being constantly opened. The food was o.k. We ordered fish & chips which were nice but a very small portion for £11 and did not include any peas or salad so looked quite dull. Dessert wasn't great either. We ordered a syrup pud with custard. The chef had mucked up the custard so we had to do with cream and the pud was very dry and overpriced. Overall the experience was quite bad and I know better foody pubs in the area but the staff were very nice. read more

This place can get busy after work especially on a Friday because it's on a really sunny corner near Farringdon and has lots of picnic tables outside. We went for an after-dinner drink after most of that crowd had gone home, around 8pm, and got a seat inside on an old comfy couch. The food looks better than the average pub, pretty posh actually, but we'd just had dinner. There were a few good beers on tap. The best part was the music - a really eclectic selection. It was louder than I usually like at a pub but they kept coming up with great songs so we stayed for another round. read more

The Green is diagonally across from Turnmills, in Farringdon is a cute pub with a restaurant on the first floor. The bar downstairs serves a good selection of lagers and beers (although I didn't sample any, being a wine drinker by preference) and is a great place to have a drink before going upstairs to eat. A group of us have twice had a lovely Christmas dinner there. It was necessary to book some time in advance as we were a large group, the service was good and everyone enjoyed their meal. We chose 1 of 3 Christmas menus and at the time, this was just under £25 per head for three courses. Prices have gone up since! I had a traditional Christmas dinner of turkey with all the trimmings and it was cooked to perfection, moist and tasty (Turkey breast can be so very dry!). read more

Firstly, apologies to Charles and his team at The Green as this review is three months late (sorry!). Working in the area, I go into the pub from time to time for lunch (delicious) and evening drinks. Loads of good beers on tap. Great spot. Can't fault. I've organised two events here in their private room upstairs - one an internal work lunch with quiz (great fun) and most recently a client event in March which was a huge success. Highlights: - A wonderful space with tables, chairs, comfy sofas and it's own bar - Bright and airy with a great view - Candlelit in the evenings to add to the atmosphere - Worked with Charles to organise a buffet dinner which was absolutely delicious from healthy salads to tasty quiches and roast beef. I especially liked the pumpkin and mint cous cous. We had apple crumble and a generous cheese board for afters. Perfect! - Charles was really helpful in the lead up and his bar staff friendly and accommodating on the evening - I organised beer tasting for the event with a local expert. The Green were very supportive of this, provided all the glasses etc we required. - Our guests had a fantastic evening. In conclusion, I love The Green, will continue to go there for after work drinks and look forward to the opportunity to work with them again soon. Thanks guys! read more

Went on a sunny Saturday afternoon quiet and relaxed. Clarkenwell Green a few yards away was packed so The Green was an excellent choice. Sat in the sun on outside tables with very polite table service. Well worth a visit. read more

I went to eat at the The Green on Saturday for lunch but unfortunately left before ordering. The place had a comfortable atmosphere and the menu looked interesting. I would have loved to eat the pigeon but having requested to use a gourmet card discount and being told that I had to book the table in advance to use it, I asked that seeing the pub was far from full if I could book now and still use the card (a bit cheeky I know but otherwise it seemed a farce as they weren't busy at all). In response to my request, warmly received by the waiter who was a nice guy, I was told by the manager (I assume she was the manager but apologise if I'm wrong) that I had to book 24 hours in advance, which was incorrect according to the deal advertised. The misunderstanding would have been fine, and I would have stayed, if the manager hadn't been quite as abrupt (rude in my opinion) and unprepared to discuss the issue. If you go to The Green my advice would be to avoid the manager and if you want to use the card and discount to book 24hrs in advance to avoid being disappointed. However, for me it isn't the deal they signed up for and they were just trying to avoid giving a discount. A shame because the place looked and smelt good, but having met the manager I wont be going back. I hope if you go you have a better experience. read more

Having used The Green for lunch and drinks down the years, I decided to book the venue for my 40th celebrations. It was superb. The kitchen accommodated all of our requests for the sit-down luncheon (special mention for the salt fish) for 40+ and the evening event was just as good with great service, good wines and well-cooked buffet. Special mentions to Charles for being so relaxed (band, decorations) yet exacting when putting together the detail of the day and to Scott for managing a very pleasant and hard-working staff.
