Had a phenomenal time at the TGER Akron. The lobby was filled with all sorts of engaging and intriguing decor to compliment the Sherlock Holmes theme. My party and I signed in effortlessly via tablet and waited a short and reasonable amount of time while our guide made sure our room was ready. The room itself was delightful - I was a bit afraid that we would either breeze through it too quickly, or be completely stumped and ruin our chances. Not so; the clues are well organized once you find all aspects and were challenging enough to stump us where it really mattered. We ended up using our hints throughout the game, but we never felt completely discouraged or like we weren't on a good track. Our hints helped us nab those tricky small details, and our in-room guide Brandon was clever without giving too much away. The soundtrack to the room was wonderful and provided added ambiance, especially as we got closer to the end! It was also a nice touch with new people in our group, so you don't have to work in silence. We happily escaped with 1:44 to spare! It was almost a really close call! We (6 people) did Sherlock's Library and made it out! We had done one other escape room together as a group, and individuals in our group had a handful of other escape rooms under their belt. We are board gamers so we love to take the thought processes that go into games into real life. We definitely enjoyed our game! The concept at The Great Escape room is a bit different than any other escape room we had done - a LOT more searching for objects, and a lot less solving clues and figuring out codes. Not a bad difference, just one to note. We were, however, thrown off my the fact that your game master (Dr. Watson) stays in the room with you for the whole game. Quite a big difference from the cameras and intercoms that just about every other escape room has! We did all agree that we lost the first 10-15 minutes of productivity because of the awkwardness of the situation. Again, not the end of the world, just a difference that should be noted for experiences escapers, since it does change the dynamic of the group you are taking into the room. read more

We checked out the Great Escape Room this past Saturday evening. Casie was extremely helpful when booking the appointment over the phone and checking us in. The room we did was the library and it was rather challenging; yet fun! The hour flew by! LaToya was in the room with us and provided clues when we needed them. She didn't leave us stumped and guessing which made it more fun for us. Unfortunately, we didn't escape. However, we will definitely be back to try a less challenging room! I attended the ribbon-cutting ceremony on Mar. 22, and they were generous enough to let anyone try out the rooms that wanted to. I went in with 3 other people, and it was a blast! We didn't finish in time, but needed 5 more minutes to solve the last few puzzles. Kasey was our host, and did a fantastic job! I'm already telling people about this place, and will give great recommendations! I took a group of 29 students here for a special event and it was very enjoyable. The teens had fun and were engaged the whole time. Both groups (in two separate rooms) made it out with less than 6 minutes to spare. Latoya was very helpful and friendly. The directions were a little confusing for first timers at the beginning, but the teens figured it out rather quickly. It would be helpful to send waivers to the group in advance so everything is set and smooth upon arrival. Fortunately, we were not in a hurry. We would definitely go again with new puzzles to solve! read more

This is my second time attending an escape room, but my first successful escape! This escape room was challenging, a good story, and well designed. I attended this with my coworkers in a team of eight. We escaped the President's Bunker, but only with two minutes to spare! The room was very engaging and the puzzles were great for team bonding and communicating. We all had a great time! The staff was nice, LaToya was so friendly and engaging. Definitely would recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun challenging night with friends, family, or coworkers! read more

We completed the mystery! Great experience and definitely some fun scenarios, but I can't lie when I feel like some of the clues were really pulling at strings and trying to stretch the mystery out a little too much. The clues you find need to be more rewarding rather than complicate things. Overall though, it was very good and hope we get a chance to go back and experience some of the other challenges. It was my first escape room experience and it was great! Super fun and engaging. Mario was the best Dr. Watson ever!! He was very friendly and was smiling all the time!! Very helpful when we asked for clues. Everything was explained clearly considering I've never done an escape room before. There was a bunch of searching in the Sherlock's Library room. Some of the things were pretty challenging to find! All in all it was an amazing experience, would definitely go again for their other rooms! I recommend going. read more

This was our 4th escape room and if I could, I'd give it 3.5 stars. We did the game room and the attendant stayed in the room the entire time which felt very awkward to us. She was kind, but felt compelled to give us gentle nudges and hints that we really didn't appreciate. We escaped by would have rather failed on our own than to have been helped to the extent that we were helped. The price and game itself was very comparable to other escape rooms we have done. read more

I don't give 5-star reviews unless everything was perfect and it exceeded my expectations. Given that, this place was incredible and I had an enjoyable experience with my friends! Our guide was informative and helped ensure that enjoyable experience. If you are looking for an activity to do with friends, and you enjoy puzzles and brain teasers, put this on your list of things to do! This was a total blast! Very challenging and fun! Katie was great! It was good having her in the room with us, when we needed clue she was right there (no confusing voice from somewhere else) it was also good to have it all in one room so if you got stuck on one challenge you could focus on something else and then go back to it. What a great time! Anyone with curiosity about escape rooms needs to jump in with both feet here. It's a challenge for sure. If you think you are good at solving puzzles or using clues to get answers, you should try this...you may be surprised. Had an awesome time in the Library...so much fun! I seriously thought we had looked everywhere for the clues but they were very clever with some of the harder ones. Megan, our very own Dr. Watson, kindly took pity on us and when time ran out gave us some additional clues so we could see how to truly escape the room. Megan was great as a guide. The activity was fun for the whole family. Six in all went, and each brought different thoughts in solving the puzzles/locks based on the clues. We completed the bunker room, barely. I am sure we as a group will and take a stab at the Library room in a few months. I went in a group of four people, including myself, and I haven't had that much fun in a LONG time. Definitely a great way to see how well you work with the people you surround yourself with on the daily. I recommend this place to any and everyone. Our first escape room. We did Sherlock's Library. Our Dr. Watson (Katie) was so nice and helpful; she made it a lot of fun. I would definitely do this again. I do feel we would have had a better chance with 4-6 people (10 sounds a little crowded), so I would recommend bringing a few extra eyeballs. read more

We had eleven in our group. We were not able to "escape" the president's bunker, but had a great time trying. The clues were just difficult enough to make it challenging, yet not too easy. We are already discussing when to go back and try one of the other rooms. Definitely worth doing!!! read more
