Jason, our coordinator, was incredible. He was always communicative, clear, and available to answer any questions we had, no matter how small. He truly made the planning process feel easy and stress-free. On the day of the wedding, the matrades d', Adriana and Jaylene, were absolute superstars. They were by my side the entire time, making sure I was where I needed to be and that everything ran smoothly. I truly couldn't have asked for a better team. The food was phenomenal--people are *still* talking about it! So many guests told us this was one of the best weddings they've ever been to, and the food played a huge part in that. There was so much food that people didn't even realize there was more coming. The dessert table was absolutely amazing, and everything looked beautiful and tasted even better. Ever since I've been in search of a wedding venue of my own, I've been recalling my past experiences at other venues I've attended weddings at. Most recently was The Grand over this past summer. Pros of The Grand: It's truly a beautiful space. If you're in search of a traditional ballroom feel, you'll love this one. The outdoor ceremony area & indoor areas are classy and elegant. The cocktail hour was definitely the star of the show here - food was amazing and had a wide variety of cuisines available. Love the option of an outdoor pizza oven at cocktail hour - so unique! This venue is also well priced, offering great options in the NYC/NJ area. Cons of The Grand: From my experience attending a wedding here, I hated the fact that multiple events are hosted at once. Sure, the venue will tell you that the events are staggered so there's no opportunity for the two guests to overlap, but that is completely false. Upon entering the main lobby area where our couple had a champagne welcome, there were stairs that led right to another ballroom/event. Guests from the other event were running rampant up and down those stairs and throughout the entryway where the champagne welcome was, almost to the point where staff was pushing our party out of the room in hopes of avoidance. Cocktail hour for our party was in a separate area of the venue, leading guests to go outside in the courtyard and up some stairs to locate it on their own. The organization overall was just confusing. There was a raw bar present at this wedding I went to, and some of the seafood presented wasn't good (slimy, smelling funky) leading us to avoid it. The outdoor pizza oven that I mentioned being a great feature -- almost no guests knew it existed since it was outside on the balcony and the entirety of cocktail hour was indoors with closed doors, which was a shame since the pizza was delicious. The main reception dinner was lacking, with almost everyone at our table's meals overcooked and inedible. The staff were visibly exhausted as well, with the day being pretty hot in the peak of summer and the maître d' refusing to increase the air conditioning, even with multiple guests and staff begging. We as guests were hot, making us feel terrible for the staff who are forced to wear long button down attire with coats over it to keep up the visual appeal. After speaking with a few staff members (busboys, waiters, bartenders) this seems to be the norm for this venue. This wedding was beautiful and such a good time due to good company, but definitely keep these things in mind when searching for a wedding venue of your own! read more

This place is very nice. They offer valet service so you don't have to walk in your heels. The rooms are very nice, bright and clean. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The minute you turn around, they are ready to. Lean your place, offer a refill or any other assistance. The only thing holding them back is the food was a little boring and basic. As far as buffets go, it generally always the same types of food to ensure variety but I was not impressed by the hot food. Deck the halls with bough of holly. This place was formally the Bethwood. The Grand pulled no puncches when it came to our 40th class reunion. Our reunion wasl Saturday October 11th and my 58 birthday was October 10th! Not only was the Grand accomodating for our 40th but hosted our 30th reunion as well. The room was spacious. The DJ played all our favorite tunes from 80s, 90s and today. We had open bar, buffet line which included crisp m8xed veggies/ w mushrooms, pasta, chicken and a fish dish. There was also a huge chacutterie board on display. For dessert we had fondue and waffles. My hats off to the Grand for being so accomodating. I am so sorry for not having pictures of our picturesque venue but after a couple of drinks and a few shots, all the pictures would have been upside down and/or topsy turvy. Our theme was Time will reveal by Debarge I think but a new Themen for the night was look what time has revealed. The Grand is one of the best venues to get married in terms of value, service, food, and ambiance. When we got married in April 2023, the price was very reasonable considering all the experiences, food, and service you would be getting. I expect this place to get more expensive though as time goes on and as the popularity grows. When venue shopping, we visited a total of 10 places before we finally settled on The Grand and immediately knew this was the one. Sal was our event coordinator, and he was nothing short of exceptional. He was personable, friendly, and helpful in several ways. During the day of the wedding, he made us feel assured that everything would be taken care of. While one of the biggest drawbacks was no food tasting, the food was surprisingly exceptional. The scallops, cowboy bar, sea bass, and the chauteaubriand was my personal favorite if you want advice on choosing the foods at your wedding. read more

My husband and I got married at The Grand in April 2023 and it was the fairy tale wedding of our dreams! The interior decor was absolutely beautiful, the staff were excellent, and this venue offered special touches such as an ice sculpture and a cool entrance for the bride/groom that set it apart. Sal was our event coordinator and he was amazing from when we first met him for a venue tour to the end of our wedding day! He was very personable and funny, responsive to our many, many questions and was knowledgeable in knowing the ins and outs of planning a smooth wedding day. It was pouring rain on our wedding and I was bummed by the gloomy all-day rain, but Sal and The Grand team made sure that our indoor ceremony was still lovely and we were even able to have a sparkler send-off on a covered patio. Our guests all told us that there was SO much food and a pleasantly diverse variety (especially at the cocktail hour), and dinner was elegant with sizeable portions as well. We also purchased a dessert station add-on, which was a huge hit amongst our guests with the chocolate fountain, coffee liquor, and assortment of desserts. Some things that we found strange was that 1) there was no food tasting for the couple offered prior to the wedding day, but there was so much delicious food that this ended up not being an issue, and 2) we were not allowed to come the day before for a ceremony rehearsal, but we just had our rehearsal on the wedding day and it was fine. Overall, our wedding at The Grand will be a beautiful day that my husband and I will remember forever, and we would like to thank Sal and The Grand for making our dreams come true! read more

I am beyond happy and can't thank Jason enough for such a perfect night. I'm sure I am not the first and most certainly will not be the last to say this was such an amazing wedding. Jason was such a big part in making my daughters wedding so majestic and coordinated everything to make her feel like she was their first wedding ever! His professionalism and service were superb. You hired a bunch of young unprofessional workers that need to go study hospitality management. They were literally throwing the plates on the table when serving the food. Mixed review. Been here many times. The cocktail hour is always phenomenal. Great selection. For the most part very good relative to the other catering halls we all know of. The fish may be appealing to those who don't know fish or don't eat it often but it isn't fresh and it isn't good quality. Fair at best. The tuna tartar app cone that was passed around was so fishy it was inedible. The fish buffet area actually smelled. Someone I mentioned it to said it's fish, it smells. But as we should know, fresh fish does NOT and should NOT smell. It reeked. Badly. The rest of the buffet however was fresh and delicious. The meat was actually very good quality. The ribeye sliced off the tomahawk was fantastic. Tender. Rare. The fresh mozzarella they were making was salted perfectly and as a result delicious. The cold cuts and cheeses (cheese balls and puffs) are always fresh and delicious. Dinner however entirely different story. The biggest issue - the chef completely misrepresented his dishes to the servers. Chicken piccata and maple glazed salmon. When I hear "chicken piccata" like probably most people I think breast sautéed with lemon caper sauce. No mind you no one said "style". They said chicken piccata. That dish turned out to be chicken ON A BONE with the frenched bone sticking out. The sauce was a thin lemon with some capers. Not at all what those ordering expected. I however chose the maple glazed salmon. I like salmon. I like it maple glazed. What I got was salmon that was neither maple nor glazed. Worse it was curry spiced and then topped with a spicy habanero mango fruit sauce. Curry is a FAR cry from maple glaze. And spicy mango sauce on the salmon isn't remotely akin or even complimentary to a maple glaze, were it maple glazed. I want expecting curry. I wasn't expecting spicy. And I wanted neither. I wanted sweet maple glazed comfort food salmon. Was it terrible. No. It was cooked well enough. The sauce was okay. But don't pitch me maple glazed salmon and serve me THAT. Plus the side veggie reeked of the curry as did the risotto base. So you know what? I was PISSED as heck I didn't get the steak which looked so good when everyone else's came. I ended up getting the entire plateful packed up and gave it away to my neighbor who seemed happy to have curried salmon for dinner the next night. So sad this happened. The over eager chef here needs to sell the dishes appropriately. Were it not suffering from that I would have given this experience a 3-4. But that is such a black mark I can't. And it isn't the first time it happened this way. I let it slide last time. Now - no. Fix it. read more

I came here for a wedding and didnt know what to expect, the groom told me that he chose this location because it was newly renovated and should look really nice. Well, he was right. The Grand did in fact live up to its name, the venue was definitely grand. The customer service was topnotch and all the staff was very courteous. The venue is beautiful. Why not 5 stars? Well, there's always room for improvement. Although the venue felt grand, the food wasn't horrible but wasn't amazing. There is definitely room for improvement for food. It wasn't just my opinion but all the people that sat with me shared my thoughts on the food. It was okay, but why not make it better? Came as a wedding guest. The venue is lovely, considering there are residential apartments across the street, they did a great job making it feel like you stepped in another location other than Totowa NJ. Cocktail hour was my favorite with the open bar. Plenty of horderves, freshly sliced meats, pastas, breads, grilled veggies, stuffed mushrooms, eggplants....just so many great options. If it ended there I would of walked away feeling content. Minus 1 star because dinner was served over an hour and a half after we sat down. The staff told me the venue can host up to three wedding simultaneously, and this night they were hosting 2. I'm not sure if it contributed to the delay in our meal but there was a delay nonetheless. read more

Attending a wedding at the Grand last week was one of the best experiences I have ever had. From the scenery to the service. a real stand out for me was our bartender Phil. We got married yesterday and Jason ( always ask for Jason) and the crew Joanna, Sal and Adrianna were outstanding. They took care of everything....everything. The day went smoother than a roll Royce. I can go on and on and on about how well the place took care of everything. The cocktail hour, the decor, the staff, the open bar, the lighting, the food, the coordination, I mean everything. The place already look fantastic so you won't need to do much...bring your DJ, photographer, and flowers then boom perfect wedding. It is truly hard to believe this establishment received such high praise. I recently attended my nieces wedding. I found the staff incredibly disorganized and unprofessional. The bridal party was ill attended, the sparkling wine of poor quality with (malt base), not to mention the inability for the bride to have a glass due to severe celiac disease (which the venue was well aware of). The bridal party didn't even have water or soda to drink in their prep area. The mother of the bride was ignored/not offered cocktail or beverage at any time. Not asked it she needed any assistance etc. The elderly guests had no seating in entrance way where they stood for a half hour while the staff was trying to figure out where we were to be going for photos. The bridal attendant went missing and did absolutely nothing. The Maitre d' did try to straighten out the situation, but I explained to him, that the damage was already done and the tone set, due to the mistakes made at the very beginning of the day. First impressions matter. Honestly, if it was my daughter I would put a hold on the check. Perhaps they should have only one wedding at a time if they don't have the professional staff available to provide over the top service on one of the most special days in one's life. OMG! This venue for any event is 5 stars. The attention to service was impeccable. From the time we arrived, to the outdoor ceremony, to the cocktail hour, reception and dessert buffet was amazing. I have to comment on the lamb chops which were the best I have ever had. In fact, all the food was amazing. I have never been to an event with so much food that was extremely good. The salmon which I had for dinner was not only prepared perfectly but was delicious. And the only thing I can say about the dessert hour was OMG! The addition of the pizza oven was a big hit. Him and his staff went above and beyond and did not disappoint. He was always available whether in person, email or phone call to answer any last minute questions and concerns We had. We did our wedding here and they lived up to our every expectation. Chris and his team were patient with our every request and did their best to make sure we were happy. The food and the venue was top notch but their garden was the main attraction. Seeing it fully decorated with the waterfall, flowers and fire was beautiful. I did feel like the team could have paid a little more attention to the bride and groom during cocktail hour when we were in the bridal suites (we were hungry lol) but honestly my guests got the attention instead and were happy so its not a big deal. We fit 300 guests easily and comfortably. It wasnt packed or crowded, everyone had plenty of room. Do your wedding at The Grand and i gauruntee your wedding will be different and unique because you will find things there that no one else will be able to pull off. Our HSA organization has booked a fundraiser at The Grand that was scheduled for March 26, 2020. We have had to postpone and cancel over the past few months and The Grand has been nothing but supportive, flexible, accommodating and completely understanding of the current situation. Wedding 11/14/21: We loved our entire experience at The Grand! We booked our day in January 2019 for May 2020 but COVID had other plans for us. General Manager Jason B. worked with us through several postponements until we were finally able to have it this past November 2021. The Grand never gave us a hard time about changing the date and went far beyond our expectations to ensure that we were happy through the entire process. Our guests absolutely loved the food, the service and the aesthetics of the venue. When we chose the venue in 2019, it was going through a transformation from its former name The Bethwood to The Grand and you have to see it in person to understand how beautiful it is. The entire facility looks brand new, because IT IS! The interior and the new garden is just under a year old at this point and newlyweds are going to be some of the first few couples to be married at what feels like a venue designed for the next generation in mind. One piece of advice I have for new couples is to have your DJ/MC increase the volume on the speakers when they get married. We had our ceremony outdoors and the water fall behind us muffled our vows quite a bit, to no fault of The Grand at all though. It was beautiful nonetheless but some of our guests couldn't hear us.
