(Make an outing out of it, go there for your lunch and take it up to the Phoenix Park to eat it, then catch an afternoon screening in the Lighthouse Cinema, and grab some dinner in L Mulligan Grocer on Manner St. I am salivating at the thought....mmm....) So what can you find in this purty little spot? It's all about local folks! They stock Irish (and European) cheese and meats, handmade breads, fresh fruit and veges, freshly made sandwiches and pastries, olives, various other pickled schtuff and all the rest of those types of delish bits n bobs you won't find in your local supermarkets. It's call Lilliput for two reasons, one as a homage to Lilliput press that is in the area and the other reason because for such a tiny shop, it really squeezes a lot in. It has a range of regular and artisan products. Cheeses from around the country, artisan breads, olives from Morocco, lots of wines and delicious sandwiches to go. A coffee will set you back the princely sum of €1.50. There are seats built into the shop front so you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere. The girl I was chatting with was a pure doll, she recommended a few local events to me, I really appreciate when people know the community they work in and are welcoming like they are here.

This is one of those places that just "gets" good food - from the sandwiches (grilled cheese to die for) to the salads (watermelon feta & tomato !!) to the amazing pizzas to the awesome coffee and deserts there is literally nothing that I don't like. Of course everyone has a favorite so I can never leave without taking some of the deviled crab with me - it is literally one of the best things I have ever eaten in my entire life. The staff are warm and engaging and easy to chat with. It is small and all the seating that they have is outdoor so it's more somewhere you would go to for something on the go. They've done a lot with the small space they have and have the Italy/NYC vibe down in terms of their decor and branding. In terms of food I would recommend the pizzas and the toasties. Because I have no friends I could not dial for a hug, and because hugging yourself is a rather futile action I decided to lift my melancholy with some tea. I got some mint infused tea, to give me more of a spring in my step. And to really treat myself I got the orange and coconut combination which is as delicious as it sounds. The owner and staff are friendly, helpful with suggestions, and quick with your orders so you're sitting down or out the door timely. I've had success a few times now dropping in before 9am for a morning coffee and scone quick as ever. I like dropping back in for a healthy salad bowl around lunch time, and even if there is a que, I'm in and out relatively fast. This is like fast food for those of us who want to eat fresh and smart! Are you a vegetarian? Are you vegan? Do you hate mayo in your salad? That's no problem, veggie/vegan/no may options are plentiful! The cappuccinos are fab here and taste extra fab with one of their homemade chocolate raspberry biscuit cake bars.
