Roasted tomato and black pudding roll.
Kevin C.

The new Good Food Store opened up on Georges St and while I've popped in a few times to see what's on offer, I never actually bought anything. (I'm sure they hate me!) Well today that changed because I took the plunge and bought a sausage roll! Well technically it wasn't a sausage roll, but a roasted tomato and black pudding roll. They also had a feta, spinach and walnut roll along with your tried and tested sausage roll. I was tempted by the feta roll but the black pudding is what sold me. €2.50 a pop which won't break the bank but still, I can see some people opting for a more filling €2.50 breakfast roll from Dunnes next door. The black pudding roll I had was unfortunately somewhat disappointing. While I got a nice initial burst of flavour biting into the roll, sadly the texture was what let it down. It may have been that I bought my roll later on in the morning or possibly the roasted tomato, but the base of the roll was incredibly soggy. Only the top was nice and crispy which I expect my whole roll to be like. I won't rag on it too much though. The black pudding had a nice, strong flavour, the roasted tomato was a tasty addition and at only €2.50, they're definitely worth a try. I'd imagine if I went earlier in the morning I'd have been tucking into a fresh, crispy roll too. Next time I'll definitely be trying the feta/spinach option. It looked delicious! And yes, I will definitely be back again. The salad bar had plenty of variety and you can add a chicken breast (pesto/harrisa) for a little extra too (€2 I believe). The staff were incredibly nice and helpful too which is always appreciated. I'll update my review in the coming weeks when I try out their salad/chicken option. I have a feeling I will fare much better the second go around.

Holy. Shit. I rarely…read morecurse but finding this gluten free goldmine of glorious pancakes was like a blessing of the saints. The portion sizes kind of seem small but that could be because my girlfriend and I split everything and it was basically a couple of bites from each other's dishes. We got the blueberry lemon pancakes, and a meat dish for the needed protein, so one savory and one sweet, the way breakfast is meant to be worshipped and devoured simultaneously. Beautiful, small place that gets packed very quickly. Interestingly enough I thought it was a French bistro, but I believe the owners hail from Ukraine as that is the country flag that was hung outside the shape if my world history learnings are correct. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and would come back in a New York minute if I get the chance to visit Dublin again. As always people SYOY!!!

I do wish the bacon side had 2 slices but it only comes with 1. My husband had French crepes with blueberry supreme topping and an order of the potato fritters, which is its own meal. I had hot tea and he had a cappuccino. Be reminded that this is a European sized cup not a giant American size. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals so much so that I left no scraps on my plate. My husband didn't finish his fritters that have avocado on them bc he's not a fan of avocado. He forgot to ask that they be removed. His fault. Very nice young staff. I wish that we had discovered this restaurant sooner bc we would have eaten breakfast there again but we discovered it on our second to last day.

We never to rarely ever visit the same restaurant twice when we are traveling, but we loved Xian so…read moremuch that we came back the next day. Loved the vibes of this place and the wait staff, though incredibly busy, still made the time to make sure we had everything we needed as food was delivered to our table. We can honestly say we did not have one bad bite of food. To our surprise, the Spice Bag was the thing we thought was the least impressive of the bunch. Still very good, but everything else was so much better. Wish there was a little more chicken in it. The Pan Fried Dumplings were maybe some the best we ever had. Do not skip the Cucumber Salad, this dish is incredibly underrated. The Chicken Satay was very good, not sure if I would get it again. The Thai Basil Beef was a stunner! Huge flavor bomb! In fact, do not skip any beef dish they have. The Crispy Chili Chicken was the best part of a Spice Bag, without the fries. The Duck Wings had amazing flavor, wished they were served a bit hotter. Everything I am mentioning as a criticism is slight and minor FYI. If we ever come back to Dublin, we are coming straight here! Also, do not sleep on their cocktail menu! Amazing drinks!

Get the spice bag!…read more Fries and chicken tenders tossed in Chinese spices and served with a side of curry sauce. The portion is large and can be shared. The restaurant is small so you will most likely have to eat outside. There's a a few benches so you may get lucky.

Stopped in for lunch and we're seated promptly at a table for two. Need to mention that seating is…read moreeither high top or booth and stool seating. Stools are ok but not super comfortable. Menu has a good selection of Irish dishes from seafood chowder up to lamb stew and pies. We ordered the potato soup, seafood chowder, 'banjo' burger with onion rings. The soups arrived first and the seafood chowder was loaded with huge pieces of fish, potatoes (not many) with a creamy rich base. Flavor was incredible and in itself a full meal. Served in a large crock style bowl. The potato soup was minus any whole potatoes. It was a rich creamy base with plenty of flavor and very hearty. The burger was really a double cheeseburger with plenty of cheese, grilled onions, what appeared to be a mayonnaise based sauce on a soft hamburger roll. Really tall enough that it was tough getting your mouth around it. Very well seasoned burgers and the onions were a nice touch. The onion rings were huge and had a very light batter on them. They served in a metal bowl to keep them hot. For dessert the apple crumble was ordered which was served in a large dish with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This could have been warmer but still was good.. The 5 star rating is for the chowder as it outshone the rest of the meal although the burger was definitely a close second. Definitely will return to try other dishes when we come back to the city.

Quick review for a quick lunch stop. We shared an Irish Lamb Stew: meat and vegetables in gravy…read morewith a layer of mash(ed potatoes) on top. The meat and veggies were plentiful, the portion generous, and it was tasty enough but maybe on the bland side? It was served with a side of braised red cabbage which we really liked: sweet but not sour like pickled cabbage. And house-made brown stout bread, also very good. The wife had a Guinness and I, thinking it too cliché to order Guinness as a tourist in Ireland, tried a different stout whose name I've forgotten from the ample selection. But comparing the two, so much better! The menu offers a wide variety of traditional Irish dishes, more than most of the similar pubs in the area. As well as the other expected pub type food: sandwiches, burgers, etc. As for desserts, if we were hungrier, the wife might have ordered the Irish Whiskey Bread & Butter Pudding. The hubby would probably get his dessert later, as the selection was limited and neither that nor the Apple Crumble appealed. Sitting at the bar we had a more personalized experience than were we at a table. The bartender offered to take a photo of me behind the bar which I of course accepted. We made the right choice in coming here.

They have a good selection of Mediterranean cuisine (shish kabobs, falafels). I've eaten there most at the end of the night of hanging out at different pubs and their food really hit the spot. I remember their beef shish or falafel meals. Their meat and falafel balls seem fresh and their stuff includes fresh veggies. They turn their orders around very quickly at late night, either for dine-in or take-away. They have plenty of dine-in seating. Zaytoon and its staff were very helpful at the late night rush, I'm assuming they're just as good during the day.

I tried the Beef Kebab, the Koobideh (spiced ground lamb and beef), and the Falafel (herbaceous chickpea fritters). The kebabs were juicy and flavorful, but the falafels were too soft, wet, and crumbly for my liking. The family-style menu also came with hummus, tzatziki, a spicy chili sauce, salad (lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, red onion, pickled red cabbage), and freshly-baked rounds of taftoon flatbread. Overall, everything we tried was flavorful, healthy, and came at a reasonable price for the quality of food!
