We definitely weren't the only ones coming in to try this place. The space is smaller and was packed so we had to wait about 20 minutes to get in. Online you can book a reservation if you call. I will say you have to climb a flight of stairs to get into the restaurant and we had to wait in line on the stairs so keep that in mind. Inside is such a lively vibe. There is a bar but no bar seating and appeared to be all sit down tables. To the food now... wow what a treat! Between my husband and I, we got the Garlic Bread appetizer and the Guinness Beef Stew and Coddle for our main meals. The garlic bread was nice and crispy and the garlic dip it came with was excellent. The rocket (arugula) on top helped to lighten it up. Now the main meals were definitely something else. The beef in the stew was tender and there was a lot of time put into the base I can tell as it had such a deep flavor. The Coddle, which originated in Dublin we learned, is something you need to try if you visit. Basically sausages and mashed potatoes put into a flavorful potato soup like what's not to love. The server's were wonderful and the food came out quickly. Great portions for the price. Highly recommend this place. Thank you to all of the staff for a wonderful experience!!

Everything we had was so good and made for a really memorable meal. The service was exceptional as well. Our server was so friendly, attentive, and welcoming, and really made the experience even better. If you're visiting Dublin and looking for delicious, traditional Irish food in a fun and welcoming atmosphere, I definitely recommend Boxty House!

This little place is right in the popular Temple Bar area. The food was excellent!! I had a lovely Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon added while my husband got the Full Irish Breakfast. With my Benedict, the eggs were cooked perfectly and with the soft boxty being the base instead of the usual bread it was a fun twist on a classic. My husband was happy to try an Irish Breakfast while in the country and he definitely enjoyed it. I tried the black and white pudding which was new to me and it tastes like a stronger version of sausage for those curious. We ended off with the Bread + Butter pudding which was sweet and moist. A great way to finish off the meal. The portions and flavor were worth the value. Why my review is lower though is the service. The waiter was very nice but initially it took at least 10 minutes for him to even approach us to get drinks at least. The restaurant wasn't full and there were maybe only 3 other tables besides us. We then were asked to move to a different table for another party and we still hadn't received anything or placed our food order. After eating it took some time to get the check too. Maybe it was a bad day I don't know but breakfast should be quick and this was not that. Thank you to the staff for the experience.

And it was. Did a little research and found this gem a block and a half from our hotel. Called an ordered a 4 frommagi "mini calzone" and was told they didn't have that on the menu any longer, so I asked why they did have for calzones and he said "we have one with mozzarella, Parmesan, scarmorza and salami". I said "could I order that but without the salami" and so it was done- tre frommagi. I couldn't decide between the Bianca and the "Lucky Tom" but on the owner's suggestion, went with the Bianca, a pizza with an olive oil base, topped with tomato, mozzarella di buffalo, Parma ham, shaved park and rocket (a.k.a. Arugula). When I went to pick them up 10 minutes later, they were ready and had a lovely char from the wood fired oven. The "mini" calzone would've been more than enough for the two of us, and I wished I had ordered just that since we do not have a refrigerator in our room and have to get creative with any leftovers. Anyway both hit the spot, but there was so much cheese in the calzone o ended up having it on the crust of my pizza and there was too much rocket on the pizza, but overall a win and a nice finish to the evening before we drifted off to sleep.
