We played a full round, and each course was challenging and fun. The restaurant at the end of the night was great as well. It felt fancy, and it was nice to just relax and eat and drink with buddies. Staff (5/5) - At hole 8 on the golf course, there is a little station where someone serves drinks and hot dogs. There is also a cart girl who comes around and provides refreshments as well. At the restaurant, the waitresses were friendly and attentive. Food/Drink (5/5) - What I ordered: Beef Tartare (5/5) - This was one of the best tartares I have ever had. I was shocked. The presentation and flavor was there. Bone Marrow (5/5) - Just check the pics out. I was very surprised that they had this on the menu. Steak Salad (4.5/5) - It was great that it had steak with the salad, but it was really more of broccoli and steak. It was refreshing though. Lobster Spaghetti (5/5) - Although I wished it had a little more lobster, I cannot complain. I still could not believe that this place served these types of dishes. I joined the Timarron club, they raised the prices without notice, charge my card every month for three years. When I tried to cancel because I am moving, they billed me for two months after I called them to cancel because the "contract" says cancellation has to be in writing. That says it all. When you have to pull out the contract and rely on fine print...business isn't too good.

Each hold had unique character, there was a nice balance of risk/reward on each hole, and the course was in nice shape for the lack of rain. The range was very large and was in great shape. The staff was very helpful and we saw a marshall every so often even though the pace of play was reasonable for a private club. Check out my photo of the 18th hole which was super fun to play. I wish I could have emptied a bag of balls for my second shot to this par 5 until I hit the green, but Tin Cup was not playing on this day. Didn't ask the membership costs since I already belong to a club, but this one is nice for the golf enthusiast.

I didn't believe them, I figured, I play enough golf I can figure out these traps. The first (10th)hole, I rolled into the back bunker. My goodness, there was little to no sand over the hard pan, I was doomed. It got into my head and I was in and out of bunkers one worst than the last. The greens were beautiful, is sand too expensive to improve something that regular players here forewarn players coming in as to how bad they are. I would definitely come back to play, hopefully when I make it back something has been done about the only thing I found wrong with the course.

This is, without question, the least accommodating pro shop I have ever experienced in public golf. I would even go so far as to say the staff is openly hostile toward customers. First, if you're unlucky enough to be the person in your foursome who books the tee time online, you will be charged for all four players. Then, when the other three players arrive to pay, the pro shop employees casually tell them, "Mr. Smith has already taken care of your fee." No, I didn't "take care of it" you charged my credit card without giving anyone another option. Now I have to track down three people to reimburse me because a 24-year-old employee decided to phrase it as if I had generously paid for everyone's round. Try asking to pay individually, and you'll be treated as though you're asking for a kidney. This appears to be standard operating procedure, and it's completely inconsistent with the policies at virtually every other public golf course in the United States. Second, there is little to no course management. Rangers are nowhere to be found, and one slow group can back up the entire course for everyone behind them without any intervention. Third and this was the final straw for me, two Sundays ago management allowed a salesperson to set up what was essentially a blockade at the 4th tee box on the East Course. Every group was forced to pass through this strategically placed choke point and endure a sales pitch before teeing off. There was literally no way around it. I politely said, "I'm sorry, I'm not interested," and then had to tee off while enduring an uncomfortable laser beam stare because I declined to listen to the sales pitch. Golfers pay to enjoy a round of golf, not to be ambushed by unsolicited sales tactics. This place has serious management issues. Lastly, if you attempt to cancel your Arcis membership, be prepared to make five or six additional monthly payments before they actually process the cancellation. In hindsight, that shouldn't have surprised me, considering they'll happily put multiple rounds on your credit card without your explicit consent. None of these issues are unfixable, which makes the situation even more frustrating. I've raised these concerns verbally on multiple occasions and nothing has changed, so I'm putting them in writing in the hope that management will finally pay attention.

I was a pretty good golfer a long way back so I had a good idea of what's necessary to get my swing back. I was assigned an instructor, very nice guy, and we set out on our lessons. After ten sessions of, "we gotta get your swing path right", I had made zero progress. Frustrated, I took the advice of a friend and set up lessons with a pro at Robson Ranch. In just two hours of work, he had me flushing my irons. He made some minor changes and tweaked my setup. I was surprised at how he was able to make these small changes and they were never addressed at GOLFTEC. I ended up not even using the rest of my sessions at GOLFTEC. They might help some people but for me, it was a waste of a grand.
