When we got to the start check-in the Marshall held us up, we T'd off because of this 8 minutes late. We waited to T off again because the group in front of us also started late. At 6, we let an average twosome play in front of our group of four. We played perfectly in the middle in front, and behind our group. At 14, 7 minutes behind the Marshall wanted us to pick up and skip a hole, so we skipped the tee and went down to drop and chip onto the green, he again came back and then wanted us to skip to the next green, with the group in front in sight on the same green. After he went to them, they bailed after the next hole. We ended up a full fairway ahead of the group behind us and finished 3 minutes over, when they started us about 10 behind. Spent $550 on play and the vendor cart and it's the last Penney they'll ever see from us. read more

Let me preface this.... I've golfed here at least 10 times. I've always enjoyed it. This round is the last time I'll ever play at this course. We showed up on a Sunday 20 minutes before our tee time. It was 57 degrees and drizzling. We were told to wait on the group in front of us on hole 1, since there was a morning tournament that pushed them back. We tee'd off 10 minutes late because of their scheduling issues. We got through 9 holes and let two players play ahead, keeping pace of play in mind. Shortly after, at about hole 13, the Marshall told us to pick up our ball and move to the next hole. We payed $85 a person to play this course, even thought the course is sopping wet and the conditions are less than ideal, we played. We are forced to start behind schedule, then we are harassed because we're behind the pace of play? We were basically told we had to skip two holes, but offered no refund for them, all because the course can't seem manage their time efficiently. The cart also stopped multiple times saying I was off the cart path when I was smack dab in the middle of the concrete. Texas star acts like they are pebble beach, when in reality, they are just the run of the mill DFW course. The staff is totally out of touch in regard to pace of play, and they couldn't care less as long as you've paid your green fee. That's fine, never again. Plenty of other courses to play that don't have Knobhead's running the course. read more

All I can say is how disappointed our group was with our Friday round at TX Star! We've been patronizing this course for 20 years and it's always been the most consistent at being in great shape for a reasonable price. I'm not sure if the greens keeper left or what's happened to the course maintenance folks but it needs major help! The course is the best in town that you can play in the entire metroplex without cashing in 250 to play Cowboys. The head pro Langas is a consummate professional. If you have a problem he is a fixer. The guy could easily manage an equity country club. Pine dunes is at least 2 hours away and considered the best in Texas. This is a close second and I mean by a whisker. read more

I became aware of how they treat employees after chatting with people previously employed by them. Not only do they not value their employees, but they fire them based off of photoshopped social media posts. Sexual harassment claims are never okay especially considering young girls work there. Very disappointed in the company. Will be spreading the word of how employees are treated. Concerning considering the amount of young girls that are employed there. Makes you feel Jeffrey Epstein vibes. Will no longer support this business nor condone the way they treat employees and staff. Not to mention they are way overpriced. The staff, especially Frank in the pro shop, including the starter, cart girl, etc could not have been nicer or more efficient! The course is in beautiful condition. The Texas Star was amazing to work with for our wedding. Leslie was so helpful and made so many suggestions. She answered all of our questions and made me feel so at ease when touring the venue. My dad was very impressed with Leslie and the venue from the first time we met with her several months ago through my wedding. He said, "The whole experience was top notch." They do everything a venue should do! Their prices are extremely reasonable with no hidden fees, and their food prices are also EXTREMELY reasonable. Included in the costs of the room rental and food are the dance floor, tables, chairs, table linens, silverware, and napkins. If you need it, they have some vases and other decor items that can be used at no additional cost. For our private dinner, they surprised us with a very nice and sweet set up to enjoy our time together. Leslie even drove us around on a shuttle/large golf cart for our sunset pictures. read more

This course is in immaculate condition. The removed the bent grass from the greens last year which I think is smart for a municipal course. This is the best muni course I've probably ever played. Greens are a little slower since it's not bent but are in awesome shape and are true. Got a round for $55 on golf now and ended up getting paired with a couple singles. Nice round, nice people, great course. I will be back! read more

Played there yesterday, course is great shape, under new golf pro I do believe. Much nicer and friendlier staff. Only issue was with Restaraunt Staff. The head lady, or acted that way, was rude and obnoxious. We asked one staff member about use of a couple of tables and got the go ahead. The lady never made a request to us to not sit there but spoke very loudly how we seized tables where some regulars usually sat and very loudly put some other tables together for them to set at later. We would have gladly moved if requested but after her rude actions we delighted in her rants. We were there a month or so ago and sat at same location with no issue or rude comments so how are we to know you have it reserved for anyone. Oh yeah, get a "reserved" sign if it irritates you so much to minimize any of your future childlike and obnoxious behavior. Anyway, funny how one person can ruin your outlook for the day and your opinion of a business. read more

Played a tournament here in April 2016, what a great course. Greens were excellent, rolled true. Many elevation changes make it visually appealing and fun to play for all types of golfers. Staff was courteous and welcoming. Loved the on line hole by hole descriptions with yardage from various points. You could literally plan each shot before you stepped on the course. The driving range and chipping areas are bit far away from the clubhouse, requiring group shuttles for the tournament, but only waited 5 to 10 minutes each way. All in all, a fun, well maintained course, if you havent played here yet, you should. read more

For the price (often sub-$75), there is no better course in Dallas. Plus, the breakfast tacos (with hashed browns on top) are an excellent pre-round food option. The course is challenging in that it's narrow at times and has some well-placed bunkers that require accuracy off the tee and near the greens. Plus, two of the four Par 3 holes are close to (if not more than) 200 yards, so you better bring your long iron game off the tee. Water is in play on about 5 holes, but nothing too treacherous. Plus, the entire staff -- from the pro shop, to the restaurant, to the cart girl, to the bag drop guys -- were all incredibly friendly and helpful. All around, this is a top-notch course. read more

This is a sweet track! I would kind of compare it to Tierra Verde in that it uses its rolling hills and natural vegetation to make for a combination of challenging play and beautiful scenery. Played 5/12 at noon. So disappointing. Dropped bags at bag drop, no one picked them up we carried them down. Went to check in, front desk guy, no personality and disinterested. Cart girl Morgan, "I'm the only one here" we leave an open tab, 2 holes later a new cart girl (either high or very disinterested) shows up, tab not transferable. Order hot dogs to be delivered on course, takes 40 minutes and they are ice cold. $74 dollars for this???? Pathetic. read more

Texas Star is one of my favorite courses in the DFW area. I've played here a couple of times last year and remembered the landscaping was beautiful. I went this past month when they were aerating so all the tee boxes were stacked and the greens were holey. Even with the maintenance occurring, I still enjoyed playing the course. read more

Conditions were good considering the time of year, end of March. The course is challenging with a good mixture of tough holes and easy holes. Greens were ok, not great, not terrible. They have a ton of Po Anna in them. They still rolled ok but the looked awful. Staff was friendly and very helpful. GPS on the carts and the pace of play was good. This course is in amazing shape and is one that rarely gets much attention. It's a little further than other Dallas courses, but it's worth the extra commute. Fairways and greens were fantastic. Pace of play was reasonable and we had to call the marshall for a random single that jumped groups and slowed everyone down - he came out right away and addressed the situation. We saw the beverage cart several times on a weekday even though we teed off at 4pm. Clubhouse is a little old school, but facilities are sufficient. Range and practice greens were perfect. Thoroughly enjoyed this course and almost don't want to tell too many people so it continues to fly under the radar! read more

This course is so incredible that I decided to become a member. For a municipal course, it's beautiful and well maintained. The practice facility is perfect and each hole presents a new challenge. Everyone is extremely kind and will go out of their way to help you. The Raven's Grille has great food for a reasonable price. If you play this incredible course, do yourself a favor and eat at the restaurant before or after. Everything on the menu is great. read more

Texas Star is one of the better courses in the DFW area. They have a pretty good practice area and the course is generally in very good condition. I remember playing this course when it first opened, several years ago, and the greens were by far and away the firmest and fastest I had ever played on (they consequently lost the greens that summer and they are no longer anywhere near as firm or fast as they used to be). However, the course is very challenging and features a unique design with a good variety of holes. I highly recommend this course. read more

This is the nicest golf course I ever played at, and it is public, and partially city funded (at least at the time; euless residents (maybe all HEB residents) got discounts). Many spectacular holes, much hilly-er than you'd think you could possibly find in the mid-cities, lots of trees. LOTS of trees, causing very narrow fairways. This place kicked my ass. read more
