Having lived with the original builder grade bath for close to 40 years, I…read moredecided it was time to start preparing to "age in place" and get my master bath completely redone - shower conversion, floor tile, cabinets, new toilet, wallpaper removal and painting. This was my first major remodel, so I don't really have anything to compare with. The nits I experienced were pretty minor and probably typical for a job this scale. I found Jose thru Yelp after verifying his other reviews were from real people and not AI generated. I had initially gotten quotes from several of the bathroom remodelers that advertise on TV and experienced sticker shock. One of them turned out to do only the wet area - I would have had to get someone else for the floors, cabinets, painting, etc. Their quote for just the shower area ended up being about what I paid Jose for the entire job. Another of the TV advertisers could do everything I wanted, but their quote was almost 3x what Jose quoted! Yes, they could do it in 2-3 days, but is that worth 3x the cost? One of the first nits I experienced was that Jose didn't tell me the whole master bedroom would be sealed off during the project. Not that big a deal, but I wish I'd known that in advance. They got the demo completed the first day. One of the more time-consuming parts was removing the old wallpaper, which seemed to take about 2 days (the old walls were completely papered). His crew foreman Javier is a master craftsman. I learned pretty quickly to trust his experience. When I had initially seen the tile backer boards installed for the shower, I thought they had forgotten the niche shelf I'd requested. He explained that goes in last. One of the other nits I experienced was that I had to buy a lot of the supplies myself. I would have much preferred just pointing to stuff in a catalog, and Jose go buy them. The biggest problem with that was the grout. I trusted the tile shop's recommendation on grout, and when I delivered it to Javier, he said that stuff is no good. He explained that since it has silicone, it constantly outgasses and leaves a film on the tile. I went online and saw some other reviews with the same comments, so that reinforced my decision to trust what he was doing. Similar experience with the safety grab bars. I just bought some from Amazon, which came with cheap nylon screw locks. Seemed pretty flimsy should you have to actually use them to prevent a fall. Javier was able to use drywall anchors to securely lock them in place. The last nit was the cabinet installation. They were in such a rush to finish the cabinets that the toilet hadn't even been installed. Since I switched to an elongated ADA style toilet, it turned out the medicine cabinet above the toilet could no longer be reached at the old one's height. They had to come back and lower it 4 inches. Again, an easy correction, but would have been unnecessary if they had put the new toilet in first. Jose's crew finished up in 2 weeks, but it was another week before the glass shower doors and mirror showed up to be installed. Anyway, they finally went in today, and I am very happy with the end results. My neighbor had his bath redone last year, and comparing Jose's work to my neighbor's handyman, Jose is miles ahead. I finally know what "Schluter" is. My neighbor doesn't have it, so there are sharp tile edges everywhere! Jose Robles Remodeling will definitely be in the running to do my other 2 bathrooms.

This is frustrating for potential customers looking for service--it's misleading to leave everything appearing operational when the owner states he's retired and isn't responding to inquiries. If the business is no longer operating, it would help everyone if the profiles and site were updated accordingly. 1 star for the lack of communication and outdated info.

It's because you guys are on the shallow side of the lake (or the shallow lake itself) - - - and the runs of poly pipe and expensive thick copper electrical cable are HUGE. It's also one helluva drive to get to your street for me. I have bid 2 other systems on your street more recently but they never called me back - - so I reckon my odds are not good enough to waste driving out there for nothing, I am absolutely swamped right now with calls from guys with very DEEP pockets closer in, like Lake Austin, Lakeway, Steiner Ranch, etc. . . and these guys have their checkbooks out and are writing, they are not fiddle farting around, "kicking tires". Please do remove me from that Chimney Cove list so I don't waste anymore of my time typing emails explaining why I PREFER to avoid Spicewood and Smithwick. Everything I wrote is true and is based on 39 to 40 years of my experience as a contractor, way more years in the trenches than you have. It is widely known among local contractors that Spicewood and Smithwick are "the ghettos of Lake Travis", the muddy side of the lake that floods catastrophically every few years. If I even bother to risk driving out to these areas I always bring up the properties beforehand on Google Maps and look at the house, boat dock, cars, etc to see if it's even worth my time; often I check the Travis County Appraisal records to see what value the property is appraised at. One of the most telling things I have learned over the years if there ain't no boat dock and a nice boat - - - - - the chances go way South they will be buying a pump system from me. The real wealth lives in closer to Austin, the limestone lake bottom which provides a clearer, cleaner water. Obviously I prefer to work for the guys with DEEP POCKETS and strong hands, not the guys with weak hands and shallow pockets. . . . and I am the only lake pump guy in central Texas with a university degree, only one with 22 years experience as a licensed irrigator, and the ONLY one who owns and knows how to use a digital insulation resistance tester which is the most important tool I have. Also the only one with 40 years experience as a certified diver, the ONLY one with a proven method of preventing Zebra mussels. Too many other qualifications to waste time mentioning. Working with Gomez Floors has been one of the best experiences I've had as a consumer. Ever. I would hands-down recommend Gomez Flooring to anyone and everyone with flooring needs. From the moment I stepped into their showroom on Burnet Rd, I was treated respectfully and with honesty. I spoke directly with the owner, Mr. Gomez, and his son, Javier. Both were professional and knowledgable. I knew what I wanted to pay, and they did not try to upsell me something more expensive, but worked with me on my budget and answered all my questions. I picked out some samples to take home so my wife and I could match the color and texture we wanted. Very nice process. Their prices were great too. I was quoted the installation upfront. Every other Flooring place I spoke to (three others) auto-included bags of cement in their pricing to level the floors, as if it was a requirement. Mr. Gomez told me from the start that it was a possibility, but they only charged per bag that was needed (spoiler, I didn't need any bags of cement to level my floors). Their prices were the best I found. As for the installation, they did an amazing job! 1000 sq ft of hardwood installed (glue down) in one day, including tearing out the carpet! Please realize though, this probably depends on a number of factors; whether the crews are available, the layout of the house, etc. I also moved as much furniture and knick knacks out of the way as possible, so the guys only had to move the heavier furniture before starting. Carlos and his crew (Urdial and Fito) started the install, and another 3 guys showed up later in the day. These guys are true professionals. Honest, respectful, and hard working! The floors are gorgeous. As a side note, the installation causes a ton of dust. Even though the guys wiped the furniture and cleaned the floors with mineral spirits before they left, be prepared to wipe down your whole house again afterwards. If I had known this, I would have covered my clothes in the master closet with plastic bags. Oh well, live and learn. I cannot recommend Gomez Floors enough. I appreciated that they helped us stay in budget and even though our floors were discontinued, found a very similar color of engineered hardwood. We did a portion of our house first, and we received so many compliments and thought it was done well - a month later we reached out to have them complete the rest of the house. They were able to do both our projects in a single day, which included tearing out the carpet.
