Giving it a four star review because my nail tech was very attentive and I walked out happy! I've debated trying this salon out for years...it looks like a fancy spot and boasts its wide selection of colors. Since I recently found myself without a regular Salon, I said why not now?! Parked in the parking lot right adjacent from the entrance. Really quick from that lot and not far of a walk... plus so many options for a quick coffee before or after my appointment. Upon walking up to the salon, I had to do a double take because it almost looked like it was closed. Seemed like nobody was in there and I was a little nervous because of that. I hoped this would mean a very diligent job! I walked in and the salon was relatively large. They have an upstairs dedicated to facials or Wax, and a wide array of seating on the main floor. I learned that for acrylic tips and gel on top the flat rate was $75. I walked in knowing that I wanted to do a Valentines red mani and I was very pleased with their selections of red. I opted for OPI's apple red. I had booked for two nails of some kind of a design, but that was never brought up during my appointment. I'm between a three and a four star rating because my nails were not soaked, my cuticles were not removed or attended to. It was a very basic manicure overall, and that really left much to be desired. Also, for the price and the location of the salon, ( middle of Reston town center ) there were no beverages offered, and the staff seemed a little disorganized and not the most attentive to customer satisfaction. The second I walk in to a new establishment, I don't typically want to see outdated signs for Christmas nails and handwritten signs about no refunds or exchanges... Just kind of made me feel as though several people must have complained. Doesn't set a good impression upfront. When I showed the gentleman the shape I wanted he said that was a coffin shape, which it absolutely was not but regardless, even though I said, a little shorter, a little more narrow a few times throughout the 1.5 hour process, he was 100% able to give me what I wanted and maintained good disposition. He took a lot of time on the shaping in the length and even without utilizing a drill which I really appreciate it because sometimes the drill can become too much and you feel the heat... especially after getting manicures pretty often and people leaving them weak and thin! I walked away with a very nicely done red manicure. So for that reason, I gave it four stars, and while I will not be returning, I certainly am not an unhappy customer. read more

Worst manicure of my entire life. She wrecked my cuticles and rushed the paint job and only applied one coat of polish. There are bubbles in the polish because it was applied so hastily and she completely missed parts of some nails. She hacked at my cuticles and then applied remover right after which obviously stung. The nails themselves are all different shapes and the polish is bumpy and not applied evenly. At the end she said she only takes Venmo which I think should have been disclosed from the beginning. I paid $27 for the manicure and $10 for the French upgrade. I'm so disappointed and would only recommend to someone I hated. read more

Horrible experience‼ read before you go. A factory where employees talk between them constantly and very loudly without any consideration for the clients who are trying to relax. I paid for the pedicure which included massage on the paper and got none. I had to ask for water. They are constantly trying to sell you more services even if you have refused once. They find a way to destroy my eyebrows which were perfect and just needed ti be cleaned. she made a HOLE in the left one si now they are no more asymmetric. of course, she didn't show me the result in a mirror. neither she put any lotion after the waxing. She was brutal. I was set in a room without a table for the legs waxing. The music is loud and terrible. I stayed there 90 minutes and had the same elevator songs 5 times. read more

No reservation but they were very friendly and took us in with little wait (15 min) time. The place was spacious and clean - busy. We both got gel pedicure and we had Cecilia and Apple! They were both so friendly and so detailed in their service. It was quick, convenient and we both left very satisfied and happy with our pedicures. The issue wasn't with the nails but rather with the man who was a nail tech (he sits in the front). I have visited this location three times. The first experience was somewhat uncomfortable because I was not welcomed at all. The second experience, however, was very welcoming, and I felt at ease. The third experience was also good. The nail tech was very attentive and friendly. However, when I went to make a payment for the service, neither my debit nor my credit card was working properly, it did not declined. I made this known to the woman at the counter. This time, I was actually transferring money to pay for the services. I noticed the woman continued to rush me, saying things like, "Hey, we can do vemo" and "you can go to the ATM." (If I had went to the ATM they would've called the police). She kept trying to swipe my cards without my authorization. After giving her 3 chances to swipe my card, my cards became locked due to a fraud alert. I completed my payment after telling her, "Give me a second." at leave 5-10 minutes. Things happened. At one point, a man literally tried to position himself behind me, as if to block my exit. I don't know what their experiences with customers who fail to make payments have been, but as a police officer, being put in that position was very disrespectful and very unsafe stepping behind me. I felt he was trying to corner me. I am definitely sending an email to BBB report this behavior. Regarding my first experience, I felt unwelcome because, when I walked in, the staff didn't seem interested in servicing me but another women of color came in it was a different welcoming. One woman looked at me with a clear expression of disdain, as if to say, "What do you want?" She didn't communicate with me; she just applied something to my nails and left it at that, without trimming or offering any further service. I brushed it off and carried on with my day. That's the backstory of my first experience. To be honest, I don't want to discredit everyone at this establishment based on my experiences with a few individuals, but the overall service is not one I would recommend, especially considering the money customers pay. I made it clear to them just a few hours ago that I will no longer be returning after that last comment the guy stated and then women tried to apologize--it was the final straw for me. The salon is very nice and clean, however some of their business practices leave one wanting. They have printed brochures of the pricing for the different level of pedicures. After reviewing the brochure my daughter and I selected the spa pedicure. However, they charged us $10 more than the printed price per service. When I asked about this, they simply said it was the higher price. I told them they needed to remove the brochures, but they never did. As for the service, the pedicures are mediocre at best. Paint lifted and chipped within a few days and I was left unimpressed. I recommend trying out another place. read more

Update - I've now been going to this salon for a while, switching between dip and acrylic. If you want a beautiful and long lasting acrylic set, Tammy is your girl! I have also gotten pedicures with my mom that have left both of our feet super soft, moisturized and neatly polished. My only complaint, now that it's gotten colder out, is that their heat either doesn't work or isn't strong. They have space heaters around the salon, but they don't always combat the cold outside. I really wanted to like this place, but... I went in for a pedicure (and did the deep callous removal one because I hadn't had a pedicure in over 2 weeks). My main complaint is that the woman who was doing my nails kept taking phone calls and walking away. Maybe she had a family emergency going on, but the tone of her voice didn't indicate that. My second complaint is that she would use a tool on my feet (pumice stone, trimmers, etc.), SET IT DIRECTLY ON THE FLOOR, then pick it up and use it on my feet again. She did this continually, and it does not seem sanitary. My third complaint would be that she didn't even apply the polish evenly, so I can feel the lumps rubbing against my socks. She was also sloppy about polish application (I could've gotten less on my skin and cleaned it up better for free). I also kept asking for warmer water and all I got was cold - not really what I want in January when it's freezing outside. Also, I thought it was really weird that she put lotion on my feet and then put them back in the water. I've been getting pedicures for 20+ years and they have always done lotion after soaking but before painting. Seems like a waste of lotion to me. Finally, if I pay extra for the callous removal, I expect my callouses to actually be removed. The place was empty when I was there, and now I understand why. I gave them two stars because she warned me upfront that they couldn't take debit/credit cards so I need cash or Venmo. read more

Horrible experience. My technician was courteous but I saw there was an extensive gap between the painted area of my nails and the cuticles. Sloppy. I returned the next morning to ask about correcting it. My daughter's wedding is in 3 days and I wanted them to look good. The salon manager immediately raised her voice and actually started yelling at me in front of patrons and employees! I was horrified and stunned by her treatment towards me and asked her to lower her voice. She refused to deescalate the situation and continued to loudly argue with me. Only getting 2 stars because at first glance my pedicure looks ok. It was rushed but looks ok. My manicure on the other hand was HORRIBLE. She rushed through it, dry cut my cuticles without soaking them at all, filed my nails without them buffing and smoothing them so now all the tips of my nails are ruined, chipped and cracked... on top of all of that the way she would grab my hand her watch would jam into my polish and her way of 'fixing' them was to just pile on more polish without repairing the dent. After all that maybe she would have thought to clean up the edges with polish remover but that never happened even though the polish remover brush was sitting right there in plain sight. I usually go to my home salon, but I decided to try The Glossary due to my coworker stating they do a decent job. After arriving with a set of nails I had did for a valentines day celebration (they were on the longer side) I was willing to pay to have them taken off. Unbeknownst to them, the salon and I share the same native language, Vietnamese, although I don't "look like it" I grew up speaking it in my parents household due to it being the only language they spoke, till this day. And lets just start by saying the unprofessionalism was extremely disappointing for such a beautiful establishment. It started with them making comments on how long my nails were and "thick" they were... granted the nails I ended with, were just as thick if not thicker and poorly done. They then proceeded to make a comment about how much money they believed my coworker and I made/had based off of the bag my friend carried... which is very disgusting. I proceeded to ask for a short acrylic set based on how "inconvenient" it was to spend so much time taking the nails off... although they're the only people that profit from the service... to add to it all the one I assume to be the owner, because I've done this many times, sat in one of the pedicure chairs and glared and at me and my coworker, for I'm not sure what other reason it could be. In addition to the comments made about me, I could also hear them say something smirky about anyone and everyone that walked into the salon. From the heavier set girl who came in asking for a pedicure, because "her legs were to big to hold up", to the black lady who came in right after me who they commented on "how she was dress and the lashes she wore" but she "had money" so they made sure to smile in her face. I never intentionally go into salons looking for trouble, but I wont stand for Vietnamese people who are truly disrespectful, unprofessional, and overall a messy salon. If this helps one person decide to go else where, that's all I want to accomplish here. This salon is beautiful, but their work ethic and mannerisms are poor and will not profit off of my or my coworker any longer. Just to add, the short acrylic set I ended with was very underwhelming, thick, and not the tapered square I asked for, given the $100 dollars I paid. At the end, the tech had the nerve to ask for a tip, I've never been to a salon that asked for that.. but that's besides the point. I really do wish the best for this salon, and hope their posture changes one day. read more

Service is always rushed, their internet hasn't worked on multiple occasions so you have to pay the technicians via Venmo, not the actual business. Atmosphere isn't relaxing, constant shouting amongst the technicians, and always a terrible pedicure. Pedicure takes about 10 mins, fastest I've ever had, but that means you get no massage, and the treatment of the nails is barely passable. I wanted to like this place given the location and parking but every time I come I'm disappointed. Requiring people to pay via Venmo to individual persons and not an actual business has tax implications and simply isn't a valid excuse. Gel manicure with no soaking, or massage was $56 and again had to Venmo a technician. Wish there was higher professionalism and better quality because it's in a great location. read more

Well, this is not fun. I love this salon. I come here all the time. I went on Sunday to get a manicure and pedicure. Normal polish on my toes. The stylist removed my ingrown toenail and unfortunately it got infected. This is the first time and I'm so bummed. The stylist didn't open a new pack of cuticle cutters, so I gather that the ones used weren't sanitary. I won't be going back. read more

Went to have a pedicure done here. Lady doing it was sweet but everything was rushed & too many coats done without any drying time between them. Despite this I sat with my feet under the dryer for 40 minutes in the hope that the nails would dry properly. By the night, the varnish was smudged. Now, having read previous reviews I imagine that the owner will attack this review in her usual rude and unprofessional manner. However, I need to set this out for the world to see. My pedicurist was a lovely lady but she said that they were understaffed & I had to wait 30 minutes to be seen as clearly they were running late, too. Working under pressure leads to botched jobs. My pedicure was a terribly botched job! I have no hope of compensation as reading the previous reviews shows me that the owner will most likely go on the offensive. My reason for writing this review is to warn potential customers. Caveat emptor! (Buyer beware!) If you have money to burn, by all means visit this establishment. If not, AVOID it like the plague. Went in to get several of my nails fixed, so they basically needed to do the entire set and just had to dip done last week. The manager told me that a dark color could be why they were chipping because other people have told him that too. I then got a lighter color. After my nails were done, he told me I would have to pay. This is absolutely ridiculous and poor service. The man who worked on me was the most unfriendly person I have ever met in a service industry. His name is Tony, and he would not listen to what I wanted him to do which was was not that difficult. He does not speak English. He is angry. He has zero intention of understanding what you have need or want. He gives you whatever he thinks that you want. I wish I had walked out when he told me, he only had an hour to work on me, and I had to hurry up when I was trying to explain to him what I wanted. I will never go back to the salon. My nails are nothing like what I wanted. they are not the length. They are not the shape and I had him put on a solid color because he had zero interest in making me happy or giving me what I wanted so now I have the ugliest nails with thick paint and short fingernails. Ok this is my 3rd time coming here. I live in the town center and was so excited about having a nail salon at walking distance. The first time I went Tammy (I believe that's her name) did my nails and it was possibly the best gel manicure I've had in a longgggg time. It lasted a little over three weeks!! I was so so pleased. Since then it's seemed nearly impossible to get in with Tammy again, but I thought I'd give other nail techs a shot. When I called to make my appointment I explained that my first visit was incredible and so great but after my second visit (with a different nail tech) my nails started to chip very fast... also a little upset, since I was on my honeymoon with chipped nails! :( This last visit I just had was "okay" although I really appreciated the manager giving me a discount from the inconvenience of my nails chipping so soon. The only reason I can't get myself to give them 5 stars is THE SERVICE!!! I don't know the name of the lady who did my gel manicure this time, she did an excellent job (I'm quite pleased- see photo) but MY GOOODNESS she seems sooo bothered to even do my nails. She didn't say a single word to me the entire time I sat there. I don't expect to have full on conversation but even a little small talk to pretend you're interested or to at least acknowledge that I'm sitting in front of you would be nice. When I explained what I wanted she said something along the lines of "ok. Yeah. Fine." Long story short, I WILL continue to go back simply because it's walking distance and a very convenient location for me. BUT for the price you're paying and the location in which they are- you would expect MUCH more from their customer service. I got my nails done by Yen and first off they are VERY RUDE!!! Not only are my nails crap but she answers her phone while working. Talks poorly about other customers in Vietnamese. It was 6:30pm when she finally finished her crap job (while she rushed through the entire process - bubbles, nails uneven, and paint job is peeling) and I had to be somewhere by 7 so I decided I would call the next day to see what they could do. Refund or redo. I was welcomed with cursing, yelling, told that I was wrong, and I was welcomed to call the police, and hung up on. I plan to go in person to see what they can do but DO NOT GO HERE!!! By the way I called when I had gotten into my office so I have witnesses to my conversation with Yen on the phone. read more

The salon is nice and it is clean. The nail tech just did a horrible job. The polish is so thick it has dried with air bubbles and it is very messy around the edges, both hands and toes. I was so excited but it really looks terrible. I told the nail tech they weren't drying and she laughed it off. Got a pedicure here with my mom and did not feel like we got the 'spa' experience. I paid extra for a massage, more like rubbing of my legs, did not get into the tissue and actually was really annoying as she stayed in one spot. My mom had to ask them to stop with the scrub because she was rubbing the scrub in one place and it eventually hurt. I got the gel and it's a 25 dollar upcharge, that was no disclosed prior. Additionally, the gel is on my skin... so I expect it to chip. After all was said and done, she made me put on my socks immediately after with the lotion still drying. I asked her if I could stay until it dried and she said it is dry and proceeded to take the towel out from under my feet. 75 dollars later I am not pleased with the gel job and I was severely anxious the entire time. Over all feels like a churn and burn kind of 'spa' and they're very rude. My mom had to even get her nails fixed after 3 days one chipped with hard gel.
