The staff was very rude to my group. I went to meet a group of friends there- we had a reservation- and they gave one of our tables away just before I got there. They sat me and a couple of others across the room from the rest of our group as a result, so we politely asked the people sitting at the table they gave away to switch seats and they happily agreed. However, when we asked the staff they said that would not be okay, which was fine, so we went to sit back at our table across the room. A couple of minutes later, a staff member came up to my table and started yelling at us for having the audacity to ask to switch tables with another group. We apologized and explained that they very kindly agreed, but we understand if that's policy during covid not to switch then we won't. But he just kept yelling at us and calling us names- it was very unnecessary and I certainly won't ever go back now. read more

My favorite gay bar in Dublin! I love this place. I would go with my friends here just for a change of scenery from the straight clubs. Though I am straight, The George never ceased to amuse me. Costantly crowded, good drinks, and good music mixes. I met a couple of dear friends of mine from here too. This place is great for hen parties and stag parties. The crowd is mixed. You have anyone from college age up to their mid 30s coming here. All the people who go here are pretty attractive too. The men especially. It's a shame they don't swing my way. haha Still though, The George will always have a special place in my heart. I love it. They have a smoking patio in the back which I really appreciate because the rest of it is smoke free. Enjoy! read more

The George is without question the most well known gay bar in dublin, although inside you will probably fimd more straight peolpe than gay! The shows put on by the drag queens are fun but after seeing them a few times get very repetitive. Drinks are expensive and the music is an awful mix of dance and chart music remixed to the point where it just sounds like noise. Bingo on sunday is fun though. read more

It's a very funny place, for sure! Went there two times in my short stay in Dublin. Always packed, but a nice place to have fun (and some drinks), specially if you're with friends. If you manage to get there early you will have a better spot to watch the performances (like bingo, drag queen performance or karaoke, depending on the day) and you may enter for free. The public have different age ranges, but are mainly young. The music is so-so. You can't really tell the difference from the DJ to a Spotify playlist. If you want to 'go out on the gay' this is the alpha and omega of the stereotypical 'gay scene'. Full to the brim with Drag Queens, cheesy bubble gum pop, that oddly balanced friendly/bitchy atmosphere and kitsch decorations and statues which most people expect when they think Gay. I have had a few very amusing nights in this place; even if it's a bit out of my comfort zone, I've always found myself laughing in the George, starting in a judgmental, snooty way and by the end I'm slapping myself for it and laughing with rather than at it all. The recent addition of budget friendly pitchers and pints of Tuborg/Bavaria brought this place up to 4 stars for me, their other pricing can be rather steep. read more

First time in Dublin, first gay bar my partner an I stopped at. It was baffled to be mistreated so upfront and openly for doing absolutely nothing. I'm from Mexico City were you gotta signal the bartender you wanna be served otherwise you will be given nothing by staring sheepishly. I waved "hello" to this young woman twice before she indicated to her male coworker something and he finally acknowledge me only to tell me it is was rude for me to signal and deigned himself to take my order. At first I couldn't make sense of whatever he said of course, but then my partner was agape at his rudeness and we just left. I know bartenders need a license so serve here, perhaps they also need a crash course on intercultural communication. read more

The name of this pub is singularly apposite because this establishment is on George Street. It is near the corner with Dame street. This makes it very centrally located. It is not overly trendy. The homosexualists who make up the mainstay of the clientele are often affluent middle aged men. The place is not quite uber cool but getting there. This place can be packed of a Saturday night. There is some riotous entertainment. Foreigners often come here, this being one of Ireland most renowned watering holes for Ganymedes. read more

Drag show was nothing amazing, although the queens looked great, they just didnt put on much of a show. It reminded me if a high school girl lip syncing in her bedroom. Drink were weak, so i strarted to ordet shots. It was packed for a sunday night. It's nice there is a gay bar in Dublin but i gave it 3 stars because i saw a group of young kids having fun and getting kicked out for it. They were dancing and one person jumped onto their friends waist and the bouncer came running over and told them they were drunk and had to leave. They were not drunk. I had been watching them for a few minutes because it was nice to see them enjoy themselves and i could tell they were not drunk. Boo and double on the bouncer. First went when Gay Pride Parade was in the city. Waited three hours, everyone around making out, tons of cute guys and girls, friendly bartenders and doormen, beautiful drag queens, everyone laughing and having fun. 10/10 and expect me there as soon as I'll have some money to spare. read more

Great atmosphere. Outside area is a great breath of fresh air during mid-dancing. There are clearly some regulars who get first priority but the staff are still very nice and helpful. Security is a bit tight but understandable after everything recently. Drinks are some of the cheapest I have found in Dublin so far, and the entertainment is a must if you are staying in Dublin in a hotel nearby. Regardless of the night, you will always be entertained. Try to get in early, around 6pm, so you have time to orientate yourself because going in through the doors next to the stage will cause a run around to try and get back in which is a pain on your first time because you won't get back in if you go out. read more

In any case, 2 friends and I, all from Austin Texas, were denied entry to George about 30 minutes ago. We had stopped in for one beer at the "Jurassic" side of the bar about 3 hours earlier for a pre-dinner drink, but after our experience at the main entrance, we will be spending our Euros elsewhere. Another review indicated that the establishment is "all about diversity"... if only this were the case! What a horrible way to treat out-of-towners! read more

I've been to The George several nights during my partner and my stay in Dublin. It was a down-to-earth pub in my opinion. I didn't go to the dance side. Just the bar side which is very cozy and had the warm welcome whenever my partner and I get in. The bartenders were excellent at communicating with us since we both are deaf. I often ordered a pint of Guinness and a Jameson whisky on rock. (It's a great combination between them both, by the way!) my partner ordered Tia Maria on rock sometimes but he found himself prefer drinking the cooler (alcopops, which is what the bartender called it). We hadn't had any bad experience in the pub. If we ever got back in Dublin, we would stop by The George in a heartbeat. I still don't know what was their schedule since every time we got there, it was already open :) the customers in there was also friendly. :D read more

If you are from the United States... DO NOT CHECK YOUR COAT!!! We had a reasonable night. The dance floor was on par with one you might find in a straight club, and the drinks were reasonable. It seems the bartentders have a hard time actually serving the customers. But when they do they do serve good drinks. My partner had his wallet stolen from his coat that he checked.... the guy working coat check gave him his coat without his wallet. He had green hair but we didnt get his name.. we went back to retrieve the wallet and the guy said that 'we dont have your wallet' It was only until that I threatened to involve the United States embassy that he magically found the wallet and returned it to him.... What a crock of shit.... Obviously we will not be reccommending this place to our friends and I hope that they find it in their ways to change their treatment of non-Irish citizens. read more

Nice staff but not overly impressed with the venue. They advertised karaoke starting at 9.30 and we left at 10.00 and the place was only beginning to fill and looked like it could easily be at least another 30 mins before anything would start. There are better places my friends better! read more

This is quite possibly my favourite club in all of Dublin. Not because it is LGBT friendly, or that the staff is amazing, but because they always have the best music hands down compared to every other night club in Dublin. Having lived in many place including Miami, I find the George plays the best mix of house that resembles the sounds you would hear in the night clubs of South Beach. There are never any messers in here, the music is great, and they welcome everyone with open arms. You can't beat the vibe you find here. Thats probably why I am slowly becoming a regular. read more

I use to spend almost all my Saturday nights at the George. It's the best gay venue in Dublin, it's safe, no one bothers you, there's room enough to dance and move and it's a good chance to meet new friends and dance. Admission is free before 11 p.m. (€ 5 or 8 after). The place extends over two floors. Cloakroom is upstairs and service costs 2 €. It regularly stages shows downstairs and on Saturday night there's karaoke contest hosted by the famous and funny drag queens Veda Beux Reves and Davina Devine. Bartenders are quick and efficient. Prices are average (from 3,50 € a Tuborg, 4,40 € a whiskey...) There's an ATM on the ground floor. Patrons are mostly young gay people and many of them know each other, but there are also older ones and tourists. Atmosphere is cozy and familiar, music is good house music and disco music (all the last hits from the top chart but also some older evergreen)...and it's impossible not feeling like dancing wildly after midnight, when the show ends (and the winner is awarded with a beer box to share with his friends) and music starts to play...Since it's loud it's difficult to talk and be heard, but no problem, if you feel like talking there's a smoking area on the rear yard where u can go for a chat and take your drink, provided you pour it into one of the big plastic glasses supplied next to the rear door, since going out with glasses it's not allowed. I've never had any issue with the staff but it's better not messing around with them, as in every other club, anyway. Only flaw: toilets tend to get a bit too dirty especially after 1:00 a.m. I also recommend you to go there on Sunday night 'cause there's Bingo hosted by Shirley Templebar..it's absolutely not-to-be-missed! read more

The best gay bar I have ever been to, hands down. What a wonderful space, energy, staff, drinks, and boys. I had an absolute blast while visiting from the States. The George is a class act - wonderful staff, and Adam, the manager, made my weekend. What can I say about the George that hasnt been said before. Its central, not too expensive and open every evening. I personally always think it looks a bit shabby but maybe thats just me. Its the main gay venue in Dublin and its an institution. I wouldnt say its my favourite bar by any means but it can be fun once in a while. read more

Really expensive drinks but I think just about everything in Dublin is expensive. I ordered a double shot of jack with coke and it cost me almost 14 euro...which is a lot of money. I got the same drink in London for no more than 6 quid so you know I was a little bummed out to spend that much. Overall, the club plays really good music and there's plenty of room to dance and have fun. Does not hurt to pregame though. read more

Probably the most famous gay club in Dublin. Really busy and cruisy on the weekends. An obvious disadvantage - after 10 o'clock you have to pay to enter it. Hint: if after paying the entrance fee you are low on cash, they have Foster's for only 3 euro per pint :) read more

Love gay nightclubs especially the ones that are friendly to straights! This place can pack 'em in but it's a blast. The drag queens are always entertaining, the bar staff are quite friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic. They have a huge smoking area out back with tables to put your drinks on. Nice dance floor but just about everywhere in the club becomes a dance floor after the booze has been flowing a while. This was the first club I stumbled upon when I landed in Dublin and I've made some great friends here. Be prepared to have too much fun and make sure you don't have plans for the following day so you can recover! read more

Love the shows and the friendly barman and server/security. I hit my head accidentally and it was swelling (I was not drunk! Don't judge). My friend asked the barman for some icecube and they took me to a small room and gave me ice bag and a girl who works there make sure I went back to my friend safely. Every one was so nice to me!! I personally don't like the george... it is very seedy and full of old men! it can have a good dancefloor at times but you'll probably spend most of your night waiting for the miming and useless drag queens to get off the stage. yes they can be entertaining on tv (and in bars in other cities) but the quality of the acts on in the george is desperate. if you're looking for a night out on dublins gay scene i would recommend the dragon a few doors up the street instead! read more
