Oh time- what a pain this place is. Not only does it play incredibly bad music (90's rave, 00's rave/dance and a mix of everything in the charts mixed with a fast undancable rave beat), the drinks sold there go up in price by the hour, the bouncers are rude, pushy and often refuse entry to many with no reason (apart from a power play on their part). If all these reasons aren't enough to put you off going, there is the added bonus that the majority of time-goers are of teenybopper age group (18-) and although they do their very best to hide the fact... within an hour of entry they become giddy due to the rapid consumption of alcho-pops and their mischievity for getting in and being obviously underage. All this combined results in extremely loud, hysterical, drama filled teen that gets drunk, gets messy and gets (eventually but no soon enough) thrown out of said nightclub.
I have been to this venue a good few times over the years due to its locality (I live in Naas) and have only had a good night there a hand full of times. All good experiences where helped by the fact that I had already consumed enough beer to make the place seem bearable and it does help to have a large group of friends all of whom are not expecting to have a good night.
There is one slightly good aspect to time and that is the top floor bar that plays 80's/90's tracks and can be a good laugh. The flaw with this however, is the fact that most people find this part the only bearable place to go too, so the small bar is packed to capacity and moving is not really an option... forget about dancing unless you are completely paralytic and can create a collective fear of drink-fuelled-vomiting which will part the crowd accordingly.
Also if you go more than once you'll find the obvious problem with this bar: the DJ without exception plays the exact same tracts from weekend to weekend and seems to not be called up on the problem with his track selection as most people there are either drunk or too pissed off to care. If you ask the DJ to play a different song he may respond kindly and say he will play it next but this never seems to happen, otherwise he will just completely ignore you which is the most common response.
The last time I was there I saw a very drunk guy leaning against the bar urinating while ordering another drink. Things like this happen often there and bouncers seem more concerned with standing around with their earpiece looking like hard bouncers. I once saw a guy vomit into the curtain covered walls, then turn and continue dancing. That sort of stuff really sums up this nightclub.
So to recap: you pay to get in, you pay for your coat, you pay for your drinks (which are necessary to enjoy the night) and they go up in price by the hour, you have to deal with annoyingly loud and dramatic teens, the bouncers are rude, the music sucks, and the only place that is semi-bearable is packed to suffocation point. Its repetitive weekly selection of music tracks becomes headwrecking, along with drunken tools that pee on the bar. All in all, rating this place is hard work, there are too many bad things to say and not enough time or space. So save you cash and go into Dublin, this place could do with closing their doors for good or trying a whole new approach to nightlife. read more
