I have been there only once - New Years Eve. The place is great! I'm from Dublin and I'd like to…read moresee Venues like Time in Dublin. Everything is nice over there. Considering how small Naas is, I am giving +1 star to this club. Go there and loose yourself ;)

Ha Ha! Your review was spot on Maggie!…read more The last time I was there was last month and before that about two years ago. All the memories and reasons came flooding back to me of why I don't go there and never will again! I was lured under the pretence that the drinks were 3euro-they weren't! Had to pay in and pay for your jacket - there was an angry looking bouncer who made sure I dropped in my jacket. So we ended up in the 80's 90's bar. The music was still the same as it was two years ago. You can be assured they play men at work, "land down under". I don't have a big problem with this sing but when it's played ad nauseum it can get annoying! Not only that though the DJ's skills involved pressing play on a selection of mix cds that were stacked beside the dj booth. I remember when it used to be jammers every Saturday night but this particular Saturday half the floors were closed and it was pretty empty which made it feel pretty pathetic and the crowd small crowd that were there mainly consisted of under agers. A night which shouldn't be repeated! Oh and a mad funny clip from years ago when Time was packed and people actually went including MTV Dance (yes it really did happen, I was there that night!eep) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN_lkjTKgQg

The Core Nightclub

The Core Nightclub

The Core appeared to be the only nightclub open in Tullamore on a Thursday, so it isn't surprising…read morethat The Core is where we ended up. When you go in, a man frisks you, paying particular attention to your hips and ankles but not really the rest of you, so you could have two shoulders in your back pockets and not necessarily get caught. It was a tenner in (on account of their monopoly, I daresay), and once inside the door, the place was not dissimilar to the upstairs of that pub on Parnell St, the closest one to O'Connell St where they have all the gigs, you know the one I'm talking about. Anyhow, this left us the teeniest bit disappointed, as we were in the humour for a proper nightclub rather than a live music venue (though the band that were playing were a very serviceable covers band). We stood around for a couple of minutes until one my friends discovered a the nightclub proper, which the owners had for some reason contrived to hide away in the back. Maybe so you'll be pleasantly surprised to stumble across it as we were, who knows? The nightclub was contained on one level, but was really big for that. I have no recollection of what the music was like, but i do remember that there was one really aggressive short guy, and that the bouncers were all enormous men in tuxedos. And the women: who'd have thought that the Co. Offaly was home to so many fine young ladies? So, all in all, The Core made for an offaly good night (couldn't resist, sorry). The Boom Boom Room, that's the place on Parnell St that I was trying to think of. So yeah, just inside the entrance of The Core is like the Boom Boom Room, though that seems like somewhat of a moot point now.

If you live in North County Dublin and you want to go out for the night without spending an arm and…read morea leg on taxi fare, your options are limited to Tamangos in Portmarnock or Velvet in Swords. Tamangos (or "Joes" as the initiated refer to it for some reason) has been famous for generations for its 'Grab a granny night'. Back when my oul lad first moved to Dublin, Grab a granny night happened on the second Tuesday of every month, as this is when the mother's of Dublin got their children's allowance, and the only chance of having a few bob to go for a hooley. These days, what with everyone being more affluent (well, for the time being anyway), Grab a grannny night happens every Tuesday, so if older women are your thing, have a ball. Being the only nightclub for a few miles around, Tamangos can charge what they like: it's usually €15 to get into the place, and standard club prices for drinks. It's kind of worth it the odd time though: the place really looks like a cheezy hotel bar. Which it is, so that makes sense, I guess. And now that the summer is here again, they have their student nights on Wednesdays, so it's €10 in and €3 drinks. Which is grand.
