Only disconnected the camera once the passenger got in realised a dashcam was on. Should have checked the reviews on other sites as there are plenty of bad stories!!!

But as soon as travel goes wrong the system they have falls flat on its face as to retrieve a vehicle early due to cancelled or foreshortened travel plans is almost impossible. They take the vehicles and park them somewhere else and in order to maximise their profits they pack them in in the order they are due to be removed according to booked travel. Each car is blocked behind loads of other vehicles and their office is full of boxes and bags full of car keys. When a storm wrecked our plans they were in absolute chaos and drip-feeding us incorrect information and promises they couldn't keep due to their own utter disorganisation about when we'd get our car back. Worse though they started to get more and more unpleasant with us and ended up slamming a customer window shut in our face. Because they wouldn't or couldn't release our car back to us, we ended up ordering an Uber to take us home (a 45 minute journey) and returned the next day to pick up our car. It was my wife's birthday, and everything went wrong that day, but the parking disaster was another level entirely of horribleness that we just didn't need. For the sake of balance, we did receive an apology the next day from the boss who happened to be behind the counter. But for us, this was too late I'm afraid and no refund was offered, even on the days we hadn't used following the cancellation of our travel. We'd been very badly treated the night before by the people on duty. Everyone has situations that go wrong but you NEVER take it out on customers and you do all you can to put the problem right or offer your customers a free drink in the attached pub while you are sorting their problem out. Instead, the people staffing this place turned more and more into a bunch of gangsters. We've used them a couple of times in the past and been lucky: our experience was OK. But I truly would never use them again and certainly never recommend them.

It was actually voted as " Bristol's Favourite Boozer" in the Evening Post Pub a couple fo years ago and it's easy to see why. The building has been around since the 1800's and still retains all the charm and character of its era. The food and the menu upholds these authentic, old school values with a distinct 'traditional' pub style slant, but with a few innovations thrown in.

It's still as charming, still has the same locals, still the same landlord and, I think, still the same roaring log fire. The Cross Hands doesn't do food, but it does do lots of guest ciders, ales and a brilliant atmosphere. The landlord and landlady (Pete and Lesley) are great (Pete is the spitting image of Peter Stringfellow - with open shirt and hairy chest) and make you feel like part of the furniture - which can make leaving quite difficult at times! Friday nights are good fun. Typical local pub style. A bit of cheese on the jukebox and a good mix of young'ens and old'ens to keep it interesting from one end of the pub to the other. But the best thing about this pub isn't its huge back garden. It isn't the fact you can use one of their massive BBQ's and bring your own meat/food. It isn't even the regular events they hold in the summer with live bands and cider in boxes. The best thing about the Cross Hands is the pub dog. A beautiful Staffordshire Bull terrier who has the gentlest demeanour and wonderful personality. She'll pin her belly to the ground and wiggle her way over to say hello. All the while snorting like a little pig. She has her own arm chair and sits with the locals who play cards on the big round table from 4pm every day. This is a lovely little boozer that has a huge garden for the summer and wonderful warm log fire for the winter. As it is out of town, you can knock 40-80p off the price of pint. A must if you're in the area.

Booked 3 rooms weeks in advance (plus another 2 rooms booked separately) and…read morecheck in was advertised as 14:00, our party arrived at around 18:00 to be told the rooms hadn't been cleaned yet, and no indication of time they would be ready. The staff seemed to have no idea of what was going on and just kept telling us 'there's nothing we can do we're short staffed'. There was no manager on site and nobody who was able to help us. The rooms were eventually 'ready' at around 19:15. We had travelled for a surprise party we were attending in Nailsea and this made all of us late and missing the time we were due to arrive. Once in the rooms it was clear they had been rushed and were all in need of a deep clean and some TLC. Thick dust on skirting boards, stained carpets covered in bits, dirty shower screens, splatters down the walls and just generally very very grubby. It's obvious they've not been properly cleaned in a long time. The girl that was there cleaning was doing the best she could but had told us that she hadn't been called in until well after 14:00 when the rooms should have been ready. If we didn't have somewhere to be, and hadn't paid in advance, we most definitely would have found somewhere else to stay. In the morning we opened the window to let in some fresh air, as the rooms were very warm, only to find our room was above the staff smoking area. It instantly made our room stink of cigarette smoke as well as hearing the staff swearing and hollering below. Breakfast consisted of some pre packed pastries and dirty glasses for the juice, we had to go and ask for some clean glasses from the bar. The 'manager' was on site the following morning sat in the bar area. He was apparently aware of the issues but made no effort to come over to us with an apology or any solution or even bother to make contact with us. When we approached him all he kept repeating was 'I apologise but were short staffed, there's nothing I can do'. THATS YOUR JOB AS A MANAGER! I fully appreciate that things happen, it's life and things don't always go to plan, but it's the way things are dealt with. We received zero communication in advance to say there may be a delay with our room, this would have enabled us to make alternate plans etc. He then told us that it would be the same situation that evening for other guests arriving, with no indication of him or the other members of staff on site making any effort to solve the the situation and start cleaning rooms ready. They basically did not really care. Overall a terrible experience and would not stay here or recommended to anyone. If you want a clean room and a decent nights stay head to the Rising Sun down the road!
