Park lake called not too long after letting us know there was an opening. We were very hesitant to switch her schools. The one she was attending was good... but it's amazing what actually a big difference between good and great is. I am glad we made the switch. It was easy too. This school feels more like family...you feel comfortable. You won't feel uneasy asking any question if you need to. Or with anything. They check ids and who is on the actually pick up list if you need to have someone pick up. No one can just wander in the building. They also provide lunches here so she actually eats her lunch and enjoys eating what everyone else is eating (healthy!). She not comparing or not wanting her food if someone else has something different. During this pandemic, they put in place over the top procedures.. to make sure the kids that needed the care during this time were safe and it has been!! They pay attention to all the small things! Communication is excellent. I know what she learns every week, how she is doing, whats happening at the school, etc. The teachers and the staff are all wonderful. Our daughter loves it here. I would drive an extra distance to bring her here. I could go on about this place. It's worth the wait (or the transfer, like we did) if there is a waiting list!! Couldn't be happier.

They've done a great job of adequately challenging my kids. Some teachers are great proactive communicators, others not so much, but all have been great at responding to emails whenever I've needed anything. They also make sure the kids have adequate physical activity, though some of my friend's kids have had teachers who take away PE privileges when classes are unruly during teaching time which I disagree with strongly. The only things I'd change are I think a second language should be part of specials for all kids and I think SCPS food choice could be healthier with less junk food extras for sale. The carline could also be better and the fence around the property is rusty and in need of being replaced. PTA is also pretty active which is wonderful!

Along with most teachers are not certified or DCF compliance for state of Florida from research and questions. My opinion and suggestion is to not enroll your child in this school and go else where. The peace of mind knowing our children are not only safe but genuinely loved by so many is priceless. It starts the moment you walk through the doors and are greeted by the friendly faces of Ms. Dawn, Ms. Ashley, and Ms. Melissa. While I wish I could name every incredible teacher, I'd love to highlight a few who have made a lasting impact on our family. Miss Lisa cared for our girls before they moved on to Pre-K, followed by the fabulous Ms. Ashley who guided them through Pre-K and gave them such a strong foundation. Now, we're onto summer camp adventures with Ms. Jasmine, Ms. Kayla, and Ms. Erin, who keep our girls happy, engaged, and excited every day. Our older son is also loving his summer camp experience with Ms. Kaylee, Ms. Bree, and Ms. Kendall -- we couldn't ask for a better team. We chose the JCC due to their excellent reputation for having great programs and warm, loving, highly certified teachers who have been there for years. They welcome families from all faiths, cultures and backgrounds and do not ask you for this personal information on sign-up. Sign-up process: Very smooth. We signed up for Fall preschool some time around Valentines day this year (yep- 6 months in advance). Be sure to call in January and get the exact sign-up date for the year. They take a certain number of students and then start a waitlist. They keep their class sizes relatively small and will try to hire teachers to maintain the proper ratio. They have both full time and part time classes. Beware that they open registration to previous students and siblings of previous students first. Step-up: This is a class conducted in the Shayna's Village wing of the facility. It's a stepwise process introducing your child to being in a classroom environment. Starts off with caregivers fully engaged along with children, then a few weeks later all caregivers on the sidelines, then a few weeks later, caregivers drop off children and can view progress through the one-way window if desired. Very good for kids used to being at home alone with caregiver who parents want to gently transition to classroom environment. They have a set schedule with repetition which is very helpful because young kids are more comfortable being left alone once they have the routine down. My son enjoys a variety of activities including music, Judaica, outside and indoor free play, snack and story time and circle time. Amenities: Family JCC membership comes with enrollment for the school year! They have a great fitness center with classes like cardio/dance bootcamp, activities like Israeli dancing and potluck shabbat, and childcare opportunities like drop off for date nights. During the summer we have been enjoying the pool parties which happen once per month and include lunch. They have tennis courts and recently started a pickle ball league. Facility: On the older side but very well kept. Classrooms very clean. Lots of additions to the original building make for a maze-like feel but once you are there a couple of times, you can find your way. The entrance has double doors and you are required to show ID prior to entering (unless you have your membership/key card). There are security guards on campus. Promotes a feeling of safety without it looking scary. There is a new Barnies coffee stand in the front with yummy drinks, some snacks and treats. New families should be sure not to miss new parent orientation so you can get an overview of all of the services and events.
