I would give this place 3.5 stores. The shop is so cute inside and smells delicious. The server was kind and let me try multiple flavors. I appreciate how you can get to go cups of M&Ms and sprinkles to put on top. I have high gelato standards after Italy last summer though, and was a little let down. I didn't want to hold anyone up trying more than two flavors so went with a chocolate sorbet flavor. They only have waffle cones and cups, no cake cones. My one scoop into my cup was on the smaller side, and it melted SO fast, faster than most ice creams. By the time I got to a bench outside at the park, it had turned mostly into a puddle. It also tasted a little sweeter than necessary in my opinion. Again, I'm a bit of a harsh gelato critic, but I would probably opt for ice cream or soft serve over this particular place. However, if you're in the area and looking for a treat in downtown Plano, they were very welcoming. Maybe a different flavor would provide a better eating experience. read more

We've been on the lookout for a new gelato spot since our go-to closed, and we're glad we stumbled upon The Gelato Cone in downtown Plano. The shop is cute and located in a very walkable area. They offer a great variety of flavors--most gluten-free and some dairy-free--which we really appreciated. We were greeted and helped right away, and all of our gelato choices were delicious. I went with the pistachio and chocolate cherry, my friend tried the dairy-free chocolate, and my partner had the strawberry. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and tasty. I loved the ambiance of this gelato parlor! It feels like an old time small town ice cream parlor from days past. One where the ice cream parlor is as much of a social gathering place as it is a place to enjoy some of your favorite flavors! Speaking of favorite flavors, mine is chocolate. Now I am not usually a big fan of gelato, I have to say their chocolate gelato was some of the best I have ever had! I was also impressed by the service here. First time trying this spot and definitely plan on returning! The location is perfect for a stroll on a nice day. It's located by a park with tons of sitting areas and a playground for kids. There's also a farmers market and art gallery near by. The interior and exterior of this place is gorgeous. The worker was very friendly and let us try multiple of their unique flavors. First time here! I would give it a 4.5 overall, I got the rose gelato and loved the flavor! It wasn't too strong or sweet, but was permeating throughout to give a constant floral flavor. Really good and delicate! The ice cream is stretchy, I think they add gum to give it more texture. I like this texture, but just keep this in mind. It was $3.69 for one scoop, and $5.69(?) for two scoops, which seems pretty expensive but it was more ice cream than I expected. They have a lot of flavors from chocolate, to fruit flavors, to sorbet. Interior is very colorful orange and blue, and service was good. I would come back again to try more! read more

Gelato was adequate. Nothing extraordinary. The scoops are tiny for the price they charge. Their double scoop is the size of Paciugo's single scoop. And Paciugo's tastes better. Service wise, this is definitely 0 stars, but 1 is the lowest I could go. The server was quite dishonest. We were asked if we wanted 1 scoop or 2 scoops. We responded 2 scoops, but we asked to separate the scoops into two separate bowls (we didn't want the flavors to mix). The lady said sure. At payment, she charged us for 2 separate scoops. When we asked about it, she told us that the 2 scoops had to be in the same small plastic bowl. She should've volunteered this information when we asked if we could have it in two separate bowls... not charge us for two separate bowls and ONLY bring it up when asked. I will not be going back to this place. I will not recommend anyone to go back to this place. read more

Great spot to get gelato. A good variety of flavors and sizes. You can get a cup or a cone. Plenty of seating. The employees are friendly and helpful, and give you a nice sized sample. A good place to stop for dessert or after shopping in the nearby boutiques. read more

Visited this ice cream shop on Saturday, 4/26 around 5 PM and had a disappointing experience. When my boyfriend went to pay, the cashier -- an older Middle Eastern man -- intentionally added a $2 tip to the total without our consent. At first, he denied it, but when my boyfriend checked his phone and showed proof of the extra charge, he admitted what he had done. It's not about the $2 -- it's about the principle. Customers should be able to trust that their payment is handled honestly. This experience left a bad taste, and I won't be returning. read more

It's a no for me. The flavors just didn't taste right. I can't put my finger on what it was. It tasted very artificial and had an off putting texture. The gelato case wasn't very inviting. I had the banana. There was this springy texture to it like gum. Strawberry was the same but tasted better. I tasted the pistachio. It's rare for me to find a pistachio I don't like. This one wasn't the least bit good. My daughter liked her mint chocolate chip so for that I gave them a star but I wouldn't recommend this place at all. The guy working at the time didn't seem too enthusiastic while helping. For 1 scoop, the price seemed high. I didn't have anything to compare it to price wise off the top of my head but 3 single scoops was $11.98. Total disappointment. read more

It's a 3.75. I got the milk free chocolate and it had a good consistency. The display is not much but the ice cream is pretty good. The front seating is nice and Plano-picturesque but go any further back and it's like a liminal space back. We have been to this place twice in a week. First of all we were impressed that they remembered us and said welcome back. Secondly, you cannot go wrong with all of the flavors. They are all super good. I had one called cookies this time. My husband had one called rose and a scoop of caramel. My daughter had a scoop of rose and a scoop of strawberry, and a scoop of caramel. My son had, a scoop of mango and two others. It was so amazing. We've decided we like gelato more than ice cream and definitely a tie with frozen yogurt. Nice new gelato place in downtown Plano. They have a great selection of flavors and - even better - each flavor also includes calorie information as you debate what you'd like to get. Staff encourage you to sample before you select and I'm glad I did. The flavors here are more intense than Paciugo. This is neither good nor bad, just different. I'm going to try the pineapple sorbet next time because I love pineapple and think the intense flavor will be a winner. I had "Mounds" which was coconut gelato topped with a 1/4 inch thick layer of chewy milk chocolate - like the consistency of fudge when you first pour it into a pan. It was delicious and I would definitely get it again! Prices are typical for gelato - $3.40 for a single scoop. You can get it in a cone or cup. This is a welcome addition to downtown Plano and I know I'll visit more when I need a sweet treat on a warm day. read more
