This review is for the tent camping, not the cabin or other rental options here (now HTR Moab)…read more The tent area is right next to the highway and it is LOUD since the trucks are engine braking downhill and shifting gears to go uphill. We stayed here two nights and slept terribly. Even with the free earplugs, we couldn't get a good nights sleep. Everything is so close together you also have no space from your neighbors. When we arrived someone else was encroaching in our site. The shared kitchen and bathroom facilities are nice, hence the 2 instead of 1 star.

The mattresses are what you'd expect for staying off somewhere, not too hard but not too soft. We brought our own pillows so I can't speak to those. The bathroom has hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We didn't use the community areas, but the setup looks great and it has a grill. Cons: Cleanliness is lacking, there are cobwebs throughout. The floor needs a good vacuuming and a heavy mopping done. It looks like only spot cleaning is done when guests leave the property. Seeing the lack of cleanliness made me question if our sheets had actually been washed and that's a gross feeling. The bath tub has no stopper, but using a wash rag worked just fine. The hot water is lacking. A quarter of the way filling the tub the water turned cold, and it took a good 45 minutes for the water to heat back up. With three people needing to bathe/shower, it was problematic and very disappointing after a long day of being out in Arches N.P. Be sure to watch a YouTube video on the Hamilton Beach Brew Station coffee pot before using or you will have watered down cold coffee. Unfortunately, I did this after making our coffee, and wasted the coffee grounds and collagen powder I had brought. There is a lot of road noise, so if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs. I don't think we will be back here again for the price we paid.

We planned a fun trip to Moab to see the National Parks and wanted to make it affordable. We are…read morecampers and came across Up the Creek Campground on a web search. It was cheaper than getting a hotel in town and sounded more adventurous. We were sold on having a bathhouse with a shower and flush toilets. There is also a sink to do dishes in and outlets to charge your electrical devices. The nice thing is that the campground is right off the main road through town if you need to pick up anything or want to eat out instead of cooking your own food. Up the Creek Campground has 16 tent-only sites that are nestled within a grove of large shaded trees. If you want to cook your own food here at the campground, there are grilling stations. There are also patio games like Corn Hole near the community area. I was a little worried about noise because this place is a few blocks from the main road. But everything was surprisingly very peaceful for us. The best part about this place was being a short drive from both Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. The only bummer during our time here was a major rainstorm that passed by one day. It rained hard for hours that day. Up the Creek Campground offers sensible weather coverage per day if it rains over 1.5 mm per hour for over 2 hours during daytime hours. I appreciated the refund for that day because we had to take shelter in our tent most of the day. Great place if you don't mind camping. You can walk up or book ahead of time.

First thing I asked was, " Is there any Propane in the Tanks?"…read more Well there should be. Was the answer I got. Ended up running out of Gas Two times. The 3rd Grill was across camp in another person area at 9:30pm. Meals ruined now. Have fun finding food at this hour. Shouldn't mention a Creek that you can't see or access. Couldn't believe how many Triggers I got attacked by! Moved down by the Colorado River, didn't have that issue? The table that is Covered in Tree Ooze, that they can't seem to just move to eliminate the issue. Or maybe as they text me about the Propane issue; they will get to it tomorrow. Not a Happy Camper! Especially since I got charged for a night I wasn't there! At least there was a Shower? And the other Travelers! That's it!

I recently stayed at Portals RV Resort, and while the amenities were top-notch, the customer…read moreservice left much to be desired. Let's start with the good, the resort itself is beautiful. The grounds are well maintained, and the amenities are impressive. The pool area is pristine, the fitness center is fully equipped, and the communal spaces like the pickleball court & pond area are fantastic. It's clear that a lot of thought and care went into designing the resort to be a relaxing enjoyable place. If you're into off-roading, this is place for you, centrally located between downtown and some hard core trails. However, my experience with the ground staff was very disappointing. From the moment we checked in, it felt like we were an inconvenience rather than guests. After parking in front of our house while unloading within minutes, they came to tell us we need to move. Obviously we were unloading but the man in the golf cart pretended to clean with a leaf blower as he watched us. This was a daily routine for him. In our last day there as we are packing up and loading our Jeeps, he came by again and said "you know you guys need to leave in half hour right".... It felt a bit racist, uncomfortable and unnecessary. It was unfortunate because the potential for this place to be a 5 start is there, but the poor customer service overshadowed the entire experience. Therefore, 4 stars is the most I can give them. I hope management takes these issues seriously because with better service, this place could easily be the best RV resort in the area.

The amenities--from the pool to the laundry facilities--were truly first class. They even offered complimentary popcorn, muffins, and snacks, which was a nice touch. The only downside was the WiFi, which was slow and a bit spotty, but everything else, from check-in to check-out, was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend!

Our tent faced Arches National Park, and waking up to those views each morning was unforgettable. We stayed in an accessible tent, which was spacious, comfortable, and had convenient parking right next to it. The tent was a little warm at bedtime, but it cooled down nicely as the night went on. The amenities were wonderful. We loved grilling dinner, making complimentary s'mores every evening, and enjoying fresh coffee each morning. The staff was incredibly kind and always happy to provide us with ice or a cooler whenever we needed one. The nightly activities made our stay even more special. We enjoyed the bookmark-making activity, and the "Star-bathing Meditation" with Monika the most peaceful experience. We spent an hour lying on a rock, meditating under an incredible sky full of stars. It was so relaxing, and Monika made the experience unforgettable. We also spent hours stargazing from the hammocks. The night sky at Under Canvas Moab is absolutely breathtaking. The views are unlike anything we've ever experienced, and we would absolutely stay here again. I highly recommend Under Canvas Moab to anyone visiting the area!

The noise from the 191 is loud, incessant and unbearable. From the winding road, the tents are less…read morethan 1/5 mile from the highway, so in fact they are even closer. For Under Canvas to choose this location and then not to to disclose how loud - and constant- the traffic noise is... is disingenuous at best. The industrial level earplugs they leave at your bedside indicate their awareness of the problem, but you can even hear the traffic through those - though it is muted - and the noise ruins just sitting outside in nature and looking at the stars. Imagine being on a motel off the freeway with the windows open the entire time, and you get the picture. For them to charge the prices they do for this location is literally highway robbery... and you are practically right over the highway. So much for peace and quiet around the campfire at night -- the free s'mores cannot undo the damage to the ambiance of having cars and semi trucks constantly screaming by. Such a disappointment.

The woman at the desk was very polite but informed me since I paid for both nights in advance, she couldn't refund me the one night. It's honestly not about the money, it's that i was already an emotional wreck and it was just the cherry on top. The only facility I used was the washers. $2 was the advertised price so I put in the quarters and it kept asking me for more. I was pleasantly surprised the dryer ran longer than advertised. My site was not level and although my dog enjoyed touching grass his last day on earth, I kept waiting for someone to complain. The price was high for a highway view but it is what it is. And no, I will never come back.

The manager was racing around the park this evening "running" her two large black dogs endangering people walking with their dogs (which we were doing) as well as causing dust and noise for those trying to enjoy sitting outside. We hollered at her to slow down, we were immediately accosted with outrage from her telling us we need to control our dogs?? They barked at her because she slid to a stop and started yelling at us that we had no right to tell her to slow down. She went on to say we were not welcome at the park anymore and we would be banned. Really? We are a Jeep club that booked 25 spaces for a week. We were placed right across the street from her home/space where her dogs barked at us every time we went to the dumpster or walked our dogs. We never complained but did say something when she was racing around the park in her golf cart. We have been RVers for over 30 years and are always respectful of where we stay. This "manager" was way out of line threatening to ban us for telling her to slow down. The park is hardly worth the cost, but our group stays here so we bit the bullet and have stayed here several times. However, the manager's attitude was the icing on the cake. We will never stay here again.

We tried the coffee bar in the morning and loved that we didn't have to go into town first thing for a cup! As for the room it is very bare bones but gets the job done. There is a mini refrigerator/cooler in the room which was nice. I do wish there was a microwave either in the room or downstairs that could have been great for pre hike breakfasts. Do note that if you want housekeeping it is an additional $25 per day. We were only staying 1 night so it wasn't needed for us. Keep it in mind if you stay longer. It is also a very dog friendly hotel , we saw lots while there and it's nice to know there's a good dog friendly place!

The facility itself is great: lots of space, clean bathrooms and showers, and tap water supply between each two camp areas. Evan (Kevin?) was also very courteous and came to check in us each day. For T06 Great shade but you will require an extra canopy to cover the front area that includes picnic tables, otherwise you are going to fry or get hit hard by random thunderstorms (yes it happened to us just now). Note there are insects out here that can be an annoyance for some. Bring extra bug spray or raid (if needed for ants), because they might crowd in certain areas. Grills are old school. We hiked the East Rim Trail, which connects to the West Rim Trail, for a total of about 3.9 miles. I'd rate it as easy to moderate: mostly flat with a few sections of light climbing. The views throughout the hike are breathtaking, and when we went, it wasn't crowded at all. Keep in mind that the park is very hot with almost no shade, so bring plenty of water. If you're traveling with a dog, be mindful of the ground temperature to avoid burning their paw pads. The visitor center itself isn't pet-friendly, but the bathrooms are located outside and accessible. My only complaint is that the trail markers could be clearer--since some trails overlap, it can get confusing. Entry is $20 per vehicle, paid at the gate. We spent about 2.5 hours exploring, though you could easily stay longer if you want to sit, relax, and take in the scenery. Overall, this is a must-visit stop in Moab.
