2nd time we stay here and everytime is amazing .. this time we stayed in a delux cabin with a queen and 2bunks and its fully equipt full kitchen including pots and pans and linen also!! October 2024

Great little campground! Traveled to Moab for a Marine Corps reunion with my wife. We rented one of the larger cabins and split it with a buddy, his daughter and niece. It had a master bedroom with a queen sized bed, a set of bunk beds and a futon couch/bed. The beds all had pillows and linens. It also had a nice small bathroom and shower, it was stocked with towels and washcloths. The kitchen had a microwave, full size fridge and was stocked with plates, bowls, glasses and silverware. Outside you have a covered porch, a covered patio area with a table and four chairs, along with a propane grill and a fire pit. It was a nice cabin, but my wife and me said the next time we go out we'll just get a cabin to ourselves, five in the cabin was a little cramped. The check-in office is also a store with a nice selection of food, drinks and other necessities. There are grocery stores just a few minutes away. The staff was great. You're in a close distance to the National Parks, so it's very easy to get around. The Canyonlands airport is about 30 minutes away also. Moab is a great little town and the KOA made our trip that much more fun.

While we were in Moab we stayed here. It was a very busy place. The place was packed. The store and office were nice and the yard games and pool were great. The park was very convenient to the trails, town and stores. The only draw back was the cable. The cable Was bad. All the channels were snowy and hard to watch. After a long hot day and a shower, a little TV hits the spot but not here. Otherwise it was good!

Everyone that works here is very helpful. It was nice to be shown to our exact site by one of the workers in their golf cart. We did a 30 day roadtrip and this was the only campsite that offered that level of service. They have corn hole and ring toss games available for anyone to use. There are nice areas to sit around a fire pit. If you are a walker like me this campsite is large and has a lot of fun areas to walk around and explore. Their pool was great also. It was big and very clean. The kids were able to ride their motorcycles around and we had a blast at this site.

Two person table, love seat pull…read moreout couch, two queen beds, a bath tub, coffee pot, mini fridge, toaster, etc. Each room contains a mini split which works great at heating and cooling the rooms. The mattresses are what you'd expect for staying off somewhere, not too hard but not too soft. We brought our own pillows so I can't speak to those. The bathroom has hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. We didn't use the community areas, but the setup looks great and it has a grill. Cons: Cleanliness is lacking, there are cobwebs throughout. The floor needs a good vacuuming and a heavy mopping done. It looks like only spot cleaning is done when guests leave the property. Seeing the lack of cleanliness made me question if our sheets had actually been washed and that's a gross feeling. The bath tub has no stopper, but using a wash rag worked just fine. The hot water is lacking. A quarter of the way filling the tub the water turned cold, and it took a good 45 minutes for the water to heat back up. With three people needing to bathe/shower, it was problematic and very disappointing after a long day of being out in Arches N.P. Be sure to watch a YouTube video on the Hamilton Beach Brew Station coffee pot before using or you will have watered down cold coffee. Unfortunately, I did this after making our coffee, and wasted the coffee grounds and collagen powder I had brought. There is a lot of road noise, so if you're a light sleeper bring ear plugs. I don't think we will be back here again for the price we paid.

This review is for the tent camping, not the cabin or other rental options here (now HTR Moab)…read more The tent area is right next to the highway and it is LOUD since the trucks are engine braking downhill and shifting gears to go uphill. We stayed here two nights and slept terribly. Even with the free earplugs, we couldn't get a good nights sleep. Everything is so close together you also have no space from your neighbors. When we arrived someone else was encroaching in our site. The shared kitchen and bathroom facilities are nice, hence the 2 instead of 1 star.

Location A+ I want to share the good first, so I will continue with that. The staff were friendly and helpful. It was quiet at night, everyone respected the quiet and guests were respectful. All the RV spots are pull through so no fighting with your spouse on backing up your camper. - haha. It was nice to have a pool (although they should really extend their hours and stay open later-8pm pool close is too early when the sun is still cooking. Now for the not so good- where to start :( The staff was never around when folks seemed to need them- I always saw people looking for someone who worked there. The women's bathroom was just unreal how gross it was. I truly think the only thing the staff did daily was empty the trash and refill toilet paper and one of the two paper towel dispensers. Never once cleaned or attempted to clean any of the three showers, sinks or toilet's. The little store they have closed nightly at 7, sometimes sooner. Which really wasn't convenient if you wanted a treat after dinner like an ice cream or adult beverage. You really have to plan ahead. We just went to town, but would have rather supported the camp ground and stayed there. Overall - this could be an AMAZING place. Just needs more staff, and a little more TLC- We would go back if we heard of improvements.

Horsethief Campground is run by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Their mission is "To sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations." I did copy their mission from their website, FYI. Horsethief caught our eye online immediately. Though it did not have any running water offered, it was open during the winter. It also had toilets on site, which was a win for us. We decided to drive to Horsetheif and check it out. They offer both campsites and RV sites, but with no hook ups. All sites are first come, first serve. Which was also fine with us, because again, we were planning on camping during the winter, during a time when they had just had a good amount of snowfall. I was told that it was an unseasonable amount for that area at this time. As we drove we made note of how close the campground was to both Canyonlands National Park and Dead Horse Point State Park. We were planning on visiting both parks, so this seemed ideal. When we pulled in, (and do not blink, you can easily miss the entrance), we knew we found our campground. It was breath taking. The area was spectacular. It was covered with pristine snow and had Pinyon trees all around. It was like we were the only people there, we felt so secluded and protected. We picked tent site 25 and it could not have been more perfect. When we stay at Horsethief again we will aim to get the same site. It was close enough to the bathroom and yet hidden. I fell in love with our site and that campground in the short time we were there. The cost is $20 per night for tent sites and you need to bring exact cash. You simply put your cash in the provided envelopes and drop it in the drop box. When we visited there were no pens/pencils, and we did not travel with any, but I hope they know that we were the ones that paid. Please if you stay a night at Horsethief, please pay your fee, the money goes directly to the BLM and that is how they support taking care of their land. It was magnificent and I can not wait to return.
