The costumer service here is unmatched and the store layout is clean and engaging. We visited today just to browse for Christmas gifts. My daughter stumbled across colorful biospheres that house African Dwarf frogs. A small aquatic frog native to parts of Equatorial Africa. Each biosphere comes with 2 frogs. Jordan educated us on care instructions and we found this be a very affordable low maintenance pet for a child. These frogs are adorable in pairs ! We were informed that we receive free food within the first year of owning the frogs. The lifespan is up to 6 years. Much better than fish. We enjoyed browsing the rest of the store and I scored some personalized ornaments for our Christmas tree 3 for $10. My daughter identified a company called Dope Slime whose items are not sold everywhere. The staff was very friendly and courteous and we can't wait to come back and visit the other locations. They're unorganized and messy, but man, is it fun to find a good bargain! Yes, there's more junk than useful items. However, they do carry lots of name brand items for cheap. I don't know why I buy from retailers at full price, Ollie's is where it's at!! From Yankee Candle to Olay and everything in between, you bet your bottom dollar that you're going home with something...and if you're not, you didn't spend enough time browsing. Here are just a few things I've gotten from Ollie's: a Stephen King graphic novel of The Dark Tower for less than $4, a secret Santa gift filled with journals, crayons, colored pencils, and two drawing pads (don't forget the gift bag, tissue paper, AND a card) for less than $15, Yankee candle melts for less than $2, a Yankee candle oil diffuser for less than $4, a large bag of brand-name veggie chips for less than $2, St. Ives body wash for less than $3, a Febreze car plug in for less than $1. As entering the store, quite a makeover. The guy at the register may be the manager greeted every customer entering the store a pleasant and welcoming experience. The prices seem to increase significantly. I did go in to purchase a few specific items but they no longer seem to carry. I looked at some furniture and found a recliner which seemed to be well made and supportive for my back; however, I could not get it to recline and no one in the department came over to ask if I needed assistance. I did see three other employees somewhat nearby. My mom purchased years ago a beautiful Broyhill kitchen table and chairs in another state and when she told me where she bought it and the price, I was very surprised in a good way. Another reason to stop in to see the furniture etc even though I was not looking to replace anything but in case I found something I really liked. I did see a sturdy 3 piece bistro but the table was not on the floor with the displayed chairs. Definitely need to sit in and see if comfortable or not. Besides if the product is sturdy or inexpensive or not well made to support use. Big Lots prices have gone up just like everyone else. This location a solid 4 star rating.
