Hello fine folks of Cary, North Carolina! I would give this place 10 stars if I could, 100 all the way! If you have kids or if you are a kid at heart (like me!) you need make a stop in here ASAP. The young gentleman working the counter was really nice and knowledgeable, I think that his parents own the store, so you should feel good about yourself when shopping here by SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES. Science Safari is more than a science store, it's a resource for science items and information! I feel like it's an almost-hidden-gem in the area, because I feel like it took much too long for me to realize just how much Science Safari has to offer! Originally, I thought it was just a store with some cool "smart" (think STEM/STEAM) items. Then I noticed they do parties in the back room and there are some fun creatures in the store for kids (and adults) to view: turtles, chinchillas, roaches, fish, an iguana, etc. I later learned that there are drop-off classes offered for children from preschool to grade 5 here too! The classes are grouped by age and the activities planned are age appropriate based on the same theme for each level. My daughter has taken a few classes here and has really enjoyed them. It's so fun that even a preschooler can have an age appropriate introduction to black holes, forces, animal habitats, or even just visiting with baby animals! You must enroll for the classes in person or over the phone, and there is a small fee about equivalent to an hour long class through town of Cary (imho it's definitely worth it!). Classes offered are posted in the store and there are handouts too. My daughter is always really excited when we arrive here. She has a few favorite toys she always checks to see if they're still there, and then she finds something new and exciting to look at. It's a nice shop to see what sparks her interest to determine activities we can do together later. The owners and employees here have always seemed genuine and friendly. I loved this place. If you're a science geek or even someone with half an interest in educational science you'll probably like it. From a glow-in-the dark moon and stars, microscopes, rocks, minerals, dinosaurs, to experiments in gravity, clocks made from potatoes, chemistry and other experiments with wire, gooey and glow in the dark ingredients, even kits to make a.m. radios that don't use batteries or electricity -- all made especially for kids, this store covers any area of science in which you might have an interest. In the back of the store they had some live snakes in glass tanks although I didn't go back far enough to see if they matched the cute names they were given (umm -- no way that was going to happen). But, I did stop by the large setup with the yellow turtle who was out of his shell and seemingly fascinated by the activity in the store. I spent quite a bit of time by the magnets -- I'm fascinated by them -- and found some really fun stuff that used them. Some of the loose magnets looked like dominoes. As an adult I found this store a lot of fun. I imagine some might not be so fascinated since the experiments and activities reminded me of school lab homework. Science safari even offer classes for kids on various topics. Overall, I thought this was a great store to pass the time and maybe even take a trip down memory lane. read more

Science safari is a great pick when looking for cool little toys, Knick knacks, crystals, and so much more. I'd definitely say it's a better version of learning express and it's way more affordable. It's a great establishment for both teens and children of all ages, I'd even recommend it for adults. There are so many products that could create great memories when doing them together as a family. The live animals in the back room are also super cool and interesting, they have iguanas, a chinchilla, and other cool pets. They even offer interactive learning classes/events for children. It's a super cool place with a variety of things, many in which promote fun learning. Just make sure you don't touch the snapping turtles!! read more

This is a great toy store / science resource. I was there yesterday buying a doctor's kit for my granddaughter and a little boy decided he needed to tell me about sharks. They have everything you can think of to install scientific curiosity in a child. Finger puppets of famous scientists!! I love this place!! read more

This is one of my favorite stores to shop at. This store and the Lego Store in Crabtree account for about 99% of my Christmas shopping. Not only is it a great place for kid's toys, but I also buy stuff for myself. This place also has science classes, but I've never had the opportunity to take my son to them. The only down side is the hours aren't that great. They close by 7pm weekdays, by 6pm Saturdays, and I don't think it's open on Sundays at all. read more

Great little store with tons of educational toys and gifts. As the name suggests, they have a large selection of science based items but there is also plenty of other types of toys as well. I thought the walk through "cave" with gemstones and fossils was a neat touch. They have quite a few small animals/reptiles in cages that your kids can look at and they offer hour long classes throughout the week. Prices are great for the toys and the classes. The owner is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely be back! read more

I end up at Science Safari a lot, looking for interesting / unusual stuff. One time, while working on an art project, I went there for supplies. I wandered around for a bit and the shopkeeper asked if he could help me find something. I said what I really needed was a 1/2 scale human skeleton model. He reached up and pulled an unmarked box off a shelf and handed it to me. Yeah, it's that kind of place. read more

This is an excellent little store. A wide variety of educational and fun gifts and toys for children. The man who works there (owns it?) is very helpful and friendly. The prices are not the cheapest, but they sell much higher quality things than traditional toy stores. read more
