The arcade was the perfect place to throw my boyfriend surprise Milestone birthday. Not only are the games well maintained and super fun, with amazing variety for kids of all ages, but the owner was incredibly kind and helpful in planning the party and setting up the day of. Party space is also thoughtfully equipped and makes hosting your event there a breeze. 10 out of 10. Absolutely loved the selection of games, and the pinballs were really great, particularly the Austin Powers one (which I hadn't seen in YEARS) and the older Gottleib ones. I checked Fix-It Felix off my list finally but there are plenty of other classics to be played here including Ms. Pac-Man, Robotron, and a whole bunch of others. I REALLY enjoyed myself at this arcade, you guys. We showed up with an hour left until close and paid $15 for an hour of gaming. Compared to bowling, lasertag, D&B and any other of similar activities, this was a really competitive rate. After that it was off to the races! I'm talking Tropic Thunder (2-player), Tundra Thunder (ditto), Kung Fu Panda (1P but we made it 2P), DDR, pinball, Terminator, and that DnD style game that's 4 players where you get skeleton keys and mash the attack button at goblins. Great arcade, old school like from the 80s kinda like a time hop of sorts. But the kids love it and so do I. It's a good deal you can buy a package with however much time you think you will need. Great games, tons of pin balls which is a favorite of mine. The kids really have a great time here. I mean sure it isn't like their games today but this is still pretty awesome. You just pay and play one time. They give you a beeper and it let's you know when you are out of time. No need for coins or tokens. Great for our family fun day. read more

We were invited to a birthday party here so it was our first time visiting and it was awesome! The kids had a great time and it was like a trip down memory lane for me! I explained to these youngins that it was how our games used to look and we would often hang out at arcades, ahhh the nostalgia/memories. We were given wrist bands for the kids and they were off to play. It's great for birthdays and family fun days! The mystery family will definitely be stopping in to have a family fun day! Awesome spot for vintage video games, many of the original classics that I played in college in the 1980s. It was great playing them again! The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and you can spend your time playing your faves or trying new ones. Cool pinball games as well if you need a break from classic video gaming. Wish we didn't buy an hour. Wish I'd done the math: $3 for 15 min, $6 for 30, and $12 for an hour. There's no discount for buying more time: wish we'd just gotten 15 min. Which is roughly how long it took us to future out that none of the pinball machines were in "good" condition. Some, I wouldn't even say were in "playable" condition. They could be; if someone took some time and care. Some flippers were non functional, like you couldn't make it up a ramp with even a spit-on perfect shot. Which means you can't progress or enjoy the game. We didn't stay the full hour. read more

This is a cool little place which will likely get even better soon. Its small, but expansion is underway which will make it much bigger with many more games. Right now it has a great selection of games with most of them being on Game is Afoot console emulators. The emulators have a menu which let you chose between actual classic arcade consoles, and all the systems from when you grew up - Atari, NES, SNES, Sega, Turbo Grafix etc. It also has all the fun 4 player arcade games like TMNT, X-men, Streets of Rage etc. Your first visit you will spend a lot of time just browsing through the menus. I recommend having a plan of some classic games you want to play ahead of time, so you can go straight to them once your hour is ticking. This is especially helpful if you are bringing small kids who have never played these old school games. Otherwise you will spend a lot of time browsing and trying to pick games they can keep up with. Currently the rates are $12/hour with unlimited credits on all games. You get a stamp card and for every 10 hours you get one hour free. I'd give it a 3.5 stars, but will round up to 4 trusting that the expansion will make it better. read more

My daughter was here for a birthday party and seemed to have a great time. Although during the allotted time I picked my daughter up and she wanted to play up to the end, so I told her we have 2min until we leave, I sat down to play an arcade game to kill the time. Big mistake! The "Karen" attendant/manager quickly pounced and said the party is over and next time you have to pay to play. Really bub? Technically the party allotted time was not over, but close enough for this guy. Was thinking about having my 9 year old son's 10th birthday party here but with a stickler manager it's not worth the aggravation. I know it's a business but this is a transitional period bro, let the parents play with their kids while they wait. No ones getting pleasure from a guy who is "power tripping" it for an arcade game and playing by the rules to a fault. Our family loves coming to this arcade. We had a birthday party here today for my two step kiddos who are on the autism spectrum, as were many of their guests. One of the kiddos became a little over stimulated, and the arcade employee went out of his way to offer a quiet, dark spot for any of the kids who needed it. That was above and beyond and extremely thoughtful. The party room had extra plates, candles etc. if needed. The kids (and parents) all loved the games, and it was nice not having to deal with coins, cards, tokens, etc. just play as you wish. Highly recommend! read more

We had our boy/ girl twins 12th birthday party at the Game Is Afoot Arcade which was an awesome party ! The arcade was closed off to the public and so we had the arcade to ourselves which made it easier for parents to feel comfortable dropping their kids off which made it easier for all of the kids to come to our party. The party room had two long tables where the kids sit together to eat pizza and cake . The owner took a great family picture! The staff completely cleaned up after the party . A perfect party ! Our kids only complaint was that there was not air hockey or more modern video games, but literally everyone who was invited attended our party and everyone looked like they had a blast ! I didn't even know this place was here. It's tucked away in a strip mall next to a pizza joint. We had a fundraiser here. It is tiny but they're expanding soon. The guy at the front desk was really nice and super pleasant. This is a great concept and good execution. The art in the bathrooms is clever. I want to give this place more stars but if I can't get past how cramped it was and for what you pay, there wasn't a lot of game choices. We'll come back again after they've expanded. read more

I think this place has great potential. Love the decor and the open play concept however, there is Learning curve. Some of the game systems have 1000's of games on them and lots of different buttons so if it's your first time there you'll spend some time getting acquainted with the system, and how to select and play games, which eats into your paid time ($3/15min/per person). Some games were down and/or not calibrated ex: police trainer was not shooting on target (my favorite game so a Little disappointed). I will come back and give it a go again. read more

The machines look beautiful and the staff is very friendly. The only thing I worry about is the legality of everything . They have MAME running in a public setting , which is illegal.....let alone they are making money off of it. Regardless they have 2 or 3 actual cabinets and the rest are all MAME cabinets. It would be nice to keep an actual arcade like this open in the area but I wouldn't wanna see them get shut down for running an illegal operation. I think they should have more actual arcade cabinets with PCBs instead of MAME . The only way the machines in the arcade would be legal is if the company who manufactured them owned the rights to all 5000 of those roms( Which is highly unlikely), but it would be ok if you had one in your house. No. This is a commercial use of MAME and is prohibited by the license. I just don't think playing something that any person could download on their computer for free should be charged money to play. Totally disappointed. I have been wanting to check this place out for a while and finally made the trip. We had my sons birthday party at an arcade last year and thought this could be a cool spot for this years celebration. My son, 7 yr old, is really into all the retro games. We have original NES, SNES, 64, etc. I also brought my 15 month old with the plan of maybe getting in a few games myself, but mainly the trip was for my older son. We were greeted by an employee. Seemed as if we were interrupting him as he needed to take his headphones off and close his device. I told him I wanted to buy an hour for me and hour for my son. He kept saying we could buy 15 minutes? What a sales person! I was willing to pay $24 and he wanted me to just pay $6? While paying, my 15 month old was pushing the start button on one of the pinball machines. The friendly host told me to stop him from pushing the buttons because it could mess up the game. Is this a taste of what we are about to experience? All the games are fragile? Pushing a button could break an arcade game?Great! We went on to play the games and there is plenty of selection. Most of the "5,000" games are emulators. Trying to figure out the navigation is difficult at first, but easy once you get the hang of it. I would have asked the friendly employee for help but he was really busy on his iPad. Assuming we would get a quick lesson was not even a thought that crossed my mind. Anyway it takes forever to scroll through the system selection, game selection, etc. Once you finally get to a game you want play the screen gets glitchy. Also the buttons don't seem to be configured right. For example, when playing Mario bros. the jump button was on the left and the run fast button was on the right? Plenty of lag throughout the game. We were "checked on" once and I think he wanted to make sure my toddler wasn't doing anything wrong like pushing a button on an arcade cabinet. The best part, and another great example of a true sales person, is when our hour was up The employee came back and said "ok guys time is up". After an uncomfortable hour I was ready, but wasn't even asked if I wanted to buy more time. We were the only two people in the place why didn't he try to keep us there? Oh well. I would have given this place zero stars, but he did cut our wristbands off before we left. This was one star worthy. Needless to say, won't be back and won't be having a party there. I have never written a bad review on Yelp before. But this place is not clear on their website that all but three of the pinball machines they claim to have are MAME emulators in pinball cabinets. So yes, they have almost 500 games, but they're all on this extremely wonky system. And there is a delay - a small delay, but a delay nonetheless - between when you hit the flipper buttons and when they respond. As pinball is very much a timing-based game, this makes actually hitting any shots near impossible. The three actual machines are in various states of disrepair. I hate to knock an arcade in these times when they're such a rarity, but this place sucks. I left before my time was even up (at $12 an hour to play their lousy emulations!) read more

This place is an arcade full of emulators. It's flat out illegal to make money off of emulated games as it's considered piracy. It's also incredibly bad for the emulation scene and the people using this technology for its intended and legal purpose. Their concept is commendable and the machines look fantastic. However, their business model is terrible. I went there 1 time and I won't go back. The machines are so complicated for even a technically savvy person. They charge you for time spent playing. In a half hour, I played 3 arcade games. The machines have 5000 games on them. It sounds nice, but its way too much. The virtual pinball machines look nice, but they're nothing like the original pinball machines. I think they should simplify their operation and change it to token based playing. They should also bring in some original arcade and pinball machines that are much simpler to play. While the place is great for entertaining the kids, my main issue is that their business practice is not legal. I am not looking to have them run out of town, but charging people to play on MAME cabinets is 100% without a doubt against the law. Maybe they are using a gray area where the games are set to "free play" but you pay to be in there for a certain amount of time? Their cabs are running hyperspin and MAME, and any research will show that you can't do this and charge people to play them. It is widely known in the MAME industry that you can't use these systems commercially. I am surprised they haven't been fined or closed yet. I did have fun with my kids there and their game selection is great - just like my personal library on my MAME cab because I also know how to download an entire database of illegal roms. The only difference, I don't charge people to play at my house BECAUSE IT IS ILLEGAL. read more

I loved going to arcades as a kid. This arcade lets me play the games I remembered, and many more. Most of the game machines are loaded with many games. You don't need to use quarters or tokens to play, but you do need to buy time. Since I don't live nearby, I bought the all day pass, which let me and my son play all we wanted. I went here with my grandmother and she was playing a game for 20 minutes instead of the 15 she paid for because she hadn't finished and the worker asked her to leave. she said she was almost finished but he continued to push her onto the ground. she had three hip replacements so this hurt very bad. half the games didn't work and the man smelled like hot Doritos and had the fashion sense of a street rat. This place was God-awful. I went in with three other people and we were looking to play Golden Axe. Ok, no problem... except you pay by the hour (and it is very expensive) and there are thousands of ROMs so, even knowing what you are looking for, you cut off at least five minutes of your time by holding the up-down stick, searching for the game. As I mentioned, it is very expensive to play games and most or all of these games you can play at home on your old Genesis or NES console. If you don't have these games, you can download ROMs for free from the Internet. Ok, not necessarily worth a one star rating. Yet. How about this- most of the machines had something wrong with them, whether it be a button did not work for one or more player (can't play when the button to give yourself credits is broken), the machine with the X-Men arcade game had a stuck button. The most important button, arguably. The one to use your mutant power which distinguishes your character from all others. Fine, whatever, three stars. We paid for an hour. The first fifteen minutes, this punk with an attitude comes up to us and says our time is up, finish the level we are on and leave. I kindly tell him we still have 45 minutes. I tell him we have until 6:52. He walks away. Fifteen minutes later he comes up again and says our time is up. Getting frustrated, I a little bit less kindly tell him "no, we have until 6:54, we just told you". He asked what our wristband said and I again told him the time. So, he comes up to us again when we still have ten minutes and says that his computer says we have until 6:45 and we need to leave. Very irritated that we have been harassed the entire time, I tell him "no, actually we have until 6:54 as we have told you multiple times already. We have ten more minutes". He comes up again when we have two minutes left and he says "it's 6:54, your time is up". At this point, I really do not care about being nice and it was actually 6:52, so I tell him that we have two minutes and we will leave when the time we paid for is up. I probably said something about pissing off, too. Besides harassing us the entire time, he also was very rude and unfriendly, seemingly getting irritated with us for his mistake. I will never return as this was a terrible experience and definitely not worth twelve dollars an hour to play games you can get for free and not be harassed. read more
