Loved this arcade! $10 a person per hour. Which makes it really simple to just play whatever you want without fumbling for coins. It wasn't very busy at 4 on a Saturday, there was a children's birthday party and some other adults. They have a wide range of machines, not just ones for kids. They have 10+ pinball machines including sopranos and South Park. Which I like a lot. The place is very clean for an arcade and two bathrooms in the back. They keep the machines all operational, nothing was out of order. They have couches to play consoles and even an Atari! I loved the air hockey, and skee ball as well. I would definitely come back here to play guitar hero which I didn't get a chance to play. I think it's also byob. Staff are friendly and helpful. read more

We have been here before and it felt like they have improved the space. It seemed more open and spacious than in the past. When you walk in, you get a wrist band that tracks your arrival time. You pay when you leave based on the time you spent. It's a set price for an hour and then 15 minute increments after that. Yestercades Somerville is one of the several Yestercades locations in New Jersey. Parking is a short walk away in the municipal lot. This retro arcade is pay by the hour or day pass, and they are BYOB, but call ahead for times and what's allowed. Inside, you find a clean and well-run retro arcade with very few machines out of order. Most cabinets and pinball machines here run from the 1980's to the 2000's. They also offer TVs for console play. Interestingly, they have pool tables and air hockey. I was here on a Saturday night and while it was busy, it never felt crowded. For not being in a large space, Yestercades Somerville might be one of the better retro arcades in New Jersey. I look forward to returning here again. read more

A great place to visit on your own or with family and friends and it truly is a fun place for people of all ages. Whether you're 6 or 60 you can have fun here. They have a variety of nintendo 64 games, switch games, xbox, etc and have tvs and many devices to use. Overall, there's a good selection of games available at this Yestercades location. Good luck getting to play air hockey, as those tables are always taken. I visited this location with a friend, and we were able to play nearly all the games we wanted to try. There's a lot of nostalgia seeing some of the older pinball machines and such, so it's a great throwback to games we played as kids. There was a small party going on and they poorly sectioned off an area that we didn't realize was supposed to be inaccessible. It would be nice if they did a better job of making divided sections clearer to avoid entering a spot that one shouldn't. I've been to this arcade a couple of times now and I love it. The prices are good and the games are amazing. The only issue I had is the workers in there. Me and my boyfriend went tonight on a date to have fun, and the workers were very rude and hostile. I don't know their names, but the one tall dude with the glasses and the ponytail kept putting his two cents, being rude like you couldn't ask him a question for the life of you. I'm sorry if you're miserable and don't like your job but maybe learn how to properly speak to customers instead of being disrespectful and answering in an aggressive manner. T&C Surf Designs on the original NES!! That is a big reason why this place gets 5 stars. That was my most memorable game as a 10 year old back in the 80s and I have been searching for this game for a long time. To be able to come to this spot and have a comfy couch to play this game all to myself for an hour or so was a complete stress reliever. I was no longer 40 something with a mortgage, bills, etc.. I was back in my grandparents house with not a care in the world. The spot seems sorta dated and smelly inside and actually that adds to the energy and experience that allow you to go back in the time, so it works for me. I went here with my son, this place is great! All the games I remember from when I was a kid.

My nephew's 10th birthday party was here on a busy Saturday night, and the adults and kids all had fun! Our party host, Aaron, was great and helpful with setting up the party, getting and serving the pizza, and helping the kids get set up to play Super Smash Bros with 7 players. Having the private area with our own games, our own couch to play with different video game consoles, along with being able to use any of the rest of the games made the time fly by. Highly recommend for a kid or adult birthday party! I also found out it was BYO (I think beer/wine only) after 8PM. read more

It's a simple concept you can pay by the hour to play unlimited games or you can buy a day pass. We checked in at the counter and the friendly guy explained how it worked and gave us bracelets that track your entry and exit times. I loved the wide variety of games offered from pinball, skee ball, air hockey, old school video games and much more that I didn't get a chance to explore in the hour that we spent there. This is one of the better pay by the hour arcades in NJ. They've got a great selection of arcade cabinets. I wish they had X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Lethal Enforcers, OutRun 2, and Marvel vs. Capcom 2, but most arcades don't have them. There are also pinball machines and air hockey. My only complaint is that some games like Time Crisis aren't calibrated properly and some arcade sticks and buttons don't work properly. Most arcade games are fine though (Tekken 3). The staff is always helpful and friendly. Best of all are the consoles from all generations up to today (PS5, Xbox Series X) and leather couches to game on. I always come here before going to Sushi Palace (AYCE Japanese food :) ) right across from here. read more

What a great experience! They had so many games and the price is not bad. It's $25 for a day pass and $9.25 for the first hour and prorated accordingly. They track it through a bracelet that they give you upon entry, making everything so easy. Everything is unlimited play and you don't have to worry about quarters or anything. They had shelves full of games for all different gaming systems. After 8 PM it is BYOB and open until 2 on Saturdays! It's great for all ages and definitely worth going! read more

I've been wanting to go to this location for awhile but I kept forgetting about it. I'm usually at the red bank location. Which I love and adore. I will admit this place is larger with many more games and pinballs. They also have a snack bar and party set up. They have a pool table, air hockey and foosball. They have 5 huge TVs and couches for console game play. Which was pretty cool. Also 3 skeeball machines which I didn't get to play..sad face. Okay staff were friendly enough. My issues were I'd say a good portion of the games and pinballs weren't working properly. I was excited to play the games but seemed like every game I went to was broken and staff were unaware. Pinball machines also, flippers didnt work or you would hit the start button and you would get nothing. There were about 6 machines that didnt work and one that the ball kept getting stuck in. The machines were sticky and greasy..yuck. after we left I used mass amounts of hand santizer, literally. There was a staff member trying to wipe down the machines but she was doing it haphazardly. They were probably that way bc I believe a kids party was just there. I was quite disappointed with this location. You also have to pay for parking. It's not much $.50 an hour and you dont have to walk far but it is a hassle to go back and forth to add more time. Sorry to say I prefer the red bank location hands down. For the simple fact of they check their games regularly to make sure they work. When they are down they have a sign on them and quickly fixed unless it can't be then they remove it. I've been here twice and had a blast both times! For anyone who was a teenager in 1980s, this retro arcade will bring you right back into that world, only enhanced by being an adult now and actually allowed to bring alcohol into the arcade. After playing stand up games like Q*bert and Joust for hours, my friends and I flopped onto the bean bags and played Atari. By that point I was tired/drunk enough that the present merged with my memories of my past and I momentarily believed I was back at my neighbors basement rec room in 7th grade. Paying by time is awesome and it brings back memories of how many quarters I wasted in my earlier years just attempting to get good at a machine. Console games, standup video games, and a very large selection of pinball machines will make nearly anyone happy here. The best part about my experience here is everything seemed to be in pretty good to excellent shape. As somewhat of a pinball collector I can tell immediately the difference between a machine that has been beat to death and something that is "home use only". Here, yes, they are still in a publicly accessible arcade but I pleasantly surprised with the condition they are in. The same was true for the standup video games.
